The Neighborhood:
Penn Quarter is a neighborhood in the East End of Downtown Washington, D.C. north of Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. Its boundaries are not well established, but they appear to extend along F Street NW from 5th to 10th Streets, and approximately H Street on the north where Penn Quarter abuts or partially overlaps with Chinatown. Penn Quarter is southeast of the Metro Center shopping district. Penn Quarter has been rejuvenated over the past several decades, stimulated first by the Pennsylvania Avenue Development Corporation (PADC) and later, following the recession in the 1990s, by the Verizon Center, a sports, concert and event arena that opened nearby at 7th and F streets in 1997 as the MCI Center. Penn Quarter now boasts a variety of entertainment and commercial establishments including museums, theaters, restaurants, bars, and contemporary art galleries. The area is also home to a popular farmers market and several food, wine, art, and culture focused festivals.
Penn Quarter is home to many restaurants, cultural, and entertainment venues in Washington, D.C. On Thursday afternoons in spring, summer, and fall, the FRESHFARM Penn Quarter farmers market is open on 8th Street, just south of E Street. The Newseum is located at the intersection of 6th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. The building also includes offices and television studio space, The Source restaurant by Wolfgang Puck, and the Newseum Residences, an apartment rental community. The neighborhood is served by a variety of recreational and entertainment facilities including seven theaters, Lucky Strike bowling and several exercise clubs. Other neighborhood amenities include several coffee shops and a teahouse / restaurant on 8th Street; three salons with day spas; the nearby Landmark E Street Cinema, which screens independent films; Regal Theater; and shops selling clothing, jewelry, ice cream, and books, among other things. Over the past thirty years the neighborhood has transformed from a sleepy, nondescript part of downtown into a vibrant 24-hour residential and commercial community.

Location can't be beat. Close enough to all the action, but located on a quiet block. All basic necessities included, clean apartment. There was construction happening at one of the entrances (the side we needed to go to check in) and on our floor so the entrance wasnt pretty but once inside apt, was lovely.

My family of 3 stayed for 5days/4nights and it was great ! The property manager messaged a few days before and gave me all the required information . The condo itself was clean and plenty of room . Even had a futon and a rollout bed , so bigger families would have plenty of room . The location was perfect and within walking distance of everything or you could catch the metro if you prefer . Would definitely stay here again .

This was a perfect place to stay, near archives, close to Metro and convenient to the convention center. The unit was well equipped and comfortable...perfect for 2 couples to share.
4.0 / 5.0
The location was great for us. There are lots of dining options nearby (less than 10 min walk). The main sights are all within 15-20 minute walk with National Archives and a few other highlights (depending on what you're looking to do) within a 5-10 minute walk. The apartment, building, and area were all very clean and safe.
There were some maintenance issues that needed attention. Mainly, the master bath shower did not work. Also, the master bath sink was very slow to drain and master bath tub drain stop did not work very well (we had to stuff a washcloth in the drain to help keep water in the tub). These were brought to property management's attention. They acknowledged the issues but didn't really offer to fix them, nor did we demand that they be fixed given our short stay and workarounds, so hopefully they've addressed them for future guests. All in all, it was a great place, especially for the price and we would stay there again assuming the maintenance issues are taken care of.

We had a lovely stay in this unit. The location could not have been more ideal for our family; great access to the metro and a quick walk to the National Mall and a variety of attractions. We would stay there again in a heartbeat!
We had an issue with the shower in the master bath but the property manager was responsive and resolved it within a day of our request.

Great location. We were able to walk almost everywhere we wanted to go. Great restaurants nearby.
4.0 / 5.0
The property was in a great spot and was within walking distance to many of the popular attractions and wonderful restaurants! It was quiet and private. The view of the city was fantastic and the kitchen was perfect. The free Netflix was nice and the beds were comfy! The amenities were fine! The customer service was prompt and friendly.
Constructive feedback: The place needed a little love with cleaning and a few updated items, but I think it just means that this place is used often and is well loved.
I’d definitely stay here again!

The apartment was clean and roomy for two couples. The property management team was very helpful and attentive. The location was safe and convenient to lots of restaurants and activities.
The only thing you might want to bring is your own Roku or Firestick. Both TVs are streaming only.
I would stay there again!

We had a great time on our DC vacation. The unit was just as advertised, and is very clean. The building is in a great location for all your sightseeing, and lots of restaurants. We enjoyed the building's workout facility and pool and jacuzzi. The building is staffed with a front desk person and is very secure/safe. The owner/rental company was easy to communicate with and very responsive. Most importantly, the beds were comfortable. My only suggestions for improvement is that the kitchen could have been better stocked for cooking (and with more cutlery). We are a tall family and found the 2 couches (well, one is a folding bench/love seat) to be fairly small/short (in depth and height)- not very comfortable for us all to sit/lounge together to watch a movie. Finally, please note that this unit is on a corner, which is great for viewing the bustling city. But one side (with the primary bedroom) is on a fairly busy street- be prepared for street noise all night. While the 2 bedrooms have blackout curtains, the living room curtains still allow a lot of light (from the big lighted billboard on the Capital One arena a block away). The bedroom doors have translucent glass panels -they are cool looking, but they let a lot of light into the bedroom. So- what I'm getting at is, bring your sleep/eye mask, ear plugs and white noise machine!

Great location for our conference and events. Also for the walking of the neighborhood for sight seeing. Convenient for stores and restaurants as well. Place was safe and easy to access from both 7th and 8th streets. Interior was clean and exactly as described in the listing. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

What fun to be in the middle of Washington, DC with amazing downtown views. The corner apartment has such a different feel with the day and night time views - seeing the Capitol Center electronic billboard at night creates a great atmosphere. The couch and living room furniture could have been better quality and more comfortable, but the beds were comfortable which was most important.
We'd happily stay there again.

We spent four days in the Pelican residence and would definitely return again. The property is in a great location, close enough to explore the monuments and museums on foot and close to a range of very good restaurants, as well as live basketball and hockey at the capital one arena. We tried a number of establishments for breakfast and dinner and loved each of them. The apartment is clean and well resourced and the building has a gym and pool to relax in after a busy day sightseeing. We look forward to returning another time.

Beautiful property, ideally located in Penn Quarter - close to National Mall, Metro, restaurants. Very walkable to all the sites, museums, memorials, and restaurants. Pelican Residences was easy to work with, unit was spacious and very nice. We would definitely stay here again.
5.0 / 5.0
This apartment is a great place to stay if you're in town to tour the Monuments and Museums. The building is close to the National Mall and allowed us to walk almost everywhere we needed to go, with a few Uber rides. The pool was disappointing for my kids (it's more of a gym, lap pool), but we really didn't have time for it anyhow. A few nights there was quite a bit of outdoor noise (passing sirens and cars) that woke us up, but that's expected staying in the middle of the city. We wished we had found a grocery store at the beginning of our stay to do breakfast at home. Overall, I recommend this apartment.
4.0 / 5.0
Location was great. The beds were uncomfortable, too low to the floor and need to be replaced. Kitchen appliances were nice but no kitchen towels and minimal glass (plastic) ware.
5.0 / 5.0
Simply could NOT have asked for more in a rental in DC!! It would’ve been nice to have a few more kitchen amenities but that’s my only complaint. I will definitely rent from them again, without thinking twice!
4.0 / 5.0
If you're staying longer, you may wish to adventure out to some of the suburbs like Clevand Circle and Georgetown. But if you're interested in sight-seeing, Capitol Hill, Lincoln Memorial, etc., this location is superb.
Keep in mind that its a downtown city location, and it can get noisy at night and typical city issues.
The unit and facilities were satisfactory for a family. The blinds are not 100% dark, so if you have a baby or young childern, you may have early mornign light in the summer.
Overall, satisfactory place and suitable for your 2 bedroom needs in the city.

The rental is as described. In a great location for restaurants and museums. The staff is prompt and helpful in their replies to concerns. Only thing Is there isn’t a market within walking distance so keep that in mind if you need/want supplies.

Federal govt building district Condo
Satisfactory 2 bedrroom apartment in good location near the Archives Museum where the US Constitution is housed. Blinds/curtains are not completely darkened, mattress is uneven and needs to be replaced, and furniture is getting old. But these are not major issues

The property was perfect for us. Very comfortable. Pool and workout room a plus. Parking on site is a must for me although its an additional charge. The neighborhood was terrific - lots of restaurants,
walk to the mall. Very lively area.

Great Location!
Awesome property within walking distance to most attractions D.C. has to offer. It was great to not have to worry about Uber's or parking and just walk to all the museum's. Definitely would recommend and would stay again.

We had a great time staying here for spring break. It was great accommodations. It was very convenient to all of the mall destinations as well as the metro. There were plenty of dining options. Our family of four had a great time.

Nice apartment in excellent location
Comfortable unit for 4 people. The location is excellent for walking to museums, restaurants, Capital One Center etc. and is also near the Metro for getting all around the city. The front desk staff are very helpful and the host company is responsive.

Great apartment, great location
The beds aren't great quality or super comfortable, but that is literally my only complaint. Great apartment, building, and location. Great communication and easy checkin process. We will definitely stay again for our next family trip to DC

Excellent
The apartment was excellent. The location was also excellent. Check-in was easy as could be. The only down side for me was the cleaning service. The apartment was clean but there were 4 towels for 4 people for 4 days (so I thought). After 3 days I opened the dryer to dry the bathing suits we wore to the pool and found a bunch of towels. The cleaning service should make sure they are out and available. Also, a request for me to run the dishwasher and laundry before leaving. The dishes were no problem but there was no detergent left in the bucket that said detergent when I went to look. Again the leaning service needs to be on top of these things.
Even though I have these suggestions our stay was excellent.
