About this house rental
Beautiful and peaceful lakefront house with a private dock on Lake Douglas, only 25 minutes from Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. The house is a 4 bedroom home plus a game room with additional sleeping. There are a total of 8 beds in the house with sleeping for up to 10. The upstairs has a spacious master bedroom with a queen and a full bathroom. The second bedroom comes with a queen, and the 3rd bedroom has a full and a twin bed. There is a new full bathroom in between these two bedrooms. The kitchen, dining, and living room are combo rooms on the main level. The downstairs has been completely remodeled over the winter. There is a new game room, a new theater room with recliners, and a new 50-inch HD TV. This room houses a day bed with a trundle that sleeps two, and also new bunks beds with a twin and full mattress. This is a perfect setup for the kids or a second family! The game room has a ping pong table, poker table, and refrigerator. Both decks have gates so no little ones can escape. We've built a new walkway to the water, complete with a platform at the lake for relaxing that steps down to the lake and a floating dock. There is a landing about 5 miles from the house by car if you want to bring a boat. H2O rentals are only about 1/2 mile up the road for anyone who wants to rent boats or jet skis. Dandridge is the closest town and it is about a 10-minute drive with restaurants and a grocery store. This lake is dam controlled so you have water from May-late September. Water begins to recede in the fall and with no water in the cove through the winter months.

Our stay was enjoyable. It was nice having access directly to the water lake from the house. There was more than enough space in the house for 8 adults.

Overall, this is a great property. A couple things worth mentioning to prepare future patrons. The dish washer leaves a gritty film on the dishes. This is probably from the detergent. It may be septic system friendly, so be prepared to rinse or wash dishes by hand. The other issue was the drain in the master bath was slow. Other than that, the place is great for a vacation and gets you in to a good location for lots of fun.

This is a great property and everyone had a good time on our vacation.

First off, the location of this property was perfect. It was 10 minutes from downtown Dandridge with a large grocery story that was well stocked and housed a Starbucks. Unlike Gatlinburg and, Pigeon Forge, there was hardly any traffic. However, most any attractions we were interested in were within 40-45 minutes drive time with beautiful Mountain Views and wildlife. In eyesight of the property across the cove, you will see a marina. We took advantage of their pontoon rentals, and they also have jet skis at a reasonable price. The on-site fire pit and hot tub were very nice. Some tips if you’re going to rent, this property would be to bring your own beach towels. There was only one at the property. There are plenty of towels to use, but they are very small and quite scratchy. You will want to bring your own hand soap and cleaning supplies as none were provided or left on site. The owners do start out with two rolls of paper towels, and several rolls of toilet paper. We purchased and left two skillets at the property, so there will be adequate pans to cook. Other than that anything else you may have needed is located on the property. We would definitely stay here again One of the highlights I would like comment on is the Cove the property is located on. The water was very clean and deep enough that you could dive off of their floating dock. This was a daily family activity for us. Absolutely wonderful location and home.

We had a great stay! The house was spotless and the location was absolutely perfect! It was nice to have a relaxing, quiet place to stay. We went swimming, fished and rented a boat that was right around the corner. Perfect stay! Would definitely stay again!

We loved this property in Douglas Lake. It was so comfortable and was a great size for 4 couples. We really enjoyed the hot tub and the fact we were able to bring our boat and dock it right at the property. The location was great! We were close to the cute town of Dandridge and many restaurants. The owners of the property were also very nice and helpful.

Had fun, rented a pontoon boat, went golfing, burnt wood in the fire pit, swam off the docks, grilled, fixed dinner in the kitchen and walked around talking to the neighbors.

We have a group of 2 families- 3 Adults, 2 Teenagers, and 2 kids. We enjoyed the array of bedroom options. 3 bedroom upstairs and 3 bed downstairs in the various gamerooms. The kids loved the bunk beds.

The house is spacious and clean. Lots of room for family, everyone had their own space. Downstairs for the kids playing games and watching movies in the theater. The views are beautiful, and it is close to all sorts of adventures. The owner was great and messaged back quickly. Neighborhood was quiet and friendly. We stayed over Christmas and they had a tree for us! Thank you!

The house was as described. Being in a house by the water was amazing. We enjoyed our time there. This is a house we could see ourselves renting again. We usually stay in a different house each vacation, but this one may change our minds. Thanks for a great vacation rental.

Very nice well kept home on the lake with a nice dock in a quiet cove. We had a wonderful stay with our children and grand children, 8 total. We chose this place over staying in Pigeon Forge because it's only 30 minutes from there and when we weren't out doing the sights we could and play in the lake and enjoy the game room here. It was an excellent choice, everyone loved it and had a wonderful time. The host is awesome!

Honestly, I don’t have anything negative to say about this home.

I was very impressed with the cabin. It is well stocked with all that you will need. The kids enjoyed the hot tub and the downstairs area with the tv and "their own fridge". There are plenty of washcloths and towels - all 3 bathrooms are well stocked and the washer/dryer along with the laundry detergent was a plus. I would just offer a few suggestions: there needs to be a trash can downstairs. There is only one and it is in the bathroom and it is a small one. Also, there was a dish cloth in the kitchen but no towel, thankfully I had brought extra ones. Once we were able to get the air conditioner unit working properly, it was better. The mattress cover on the beds does make the beds hot. The towels are nice and the shower heads are nice. The full 3 baths are nice. Thank you for the stay. The view of the lak is very nice.

This property was clean, easy to find, short walk from the house to the dock. It had everything we needed. Our family had a blast.
My only complaint (and this is only a complaint if you have small children-crawling or barely walking) is there is a set of stairs in the kitchen and living room that our open. There’s no door or gate so we were constantly moving him away from the stairs. It was exhausting. I know places can’t make everything child proofed so this is only for the families with small children.
Other than that we loved it!!

Hugh the property owner was great, very responsive, and easygoing! He made us well aware that there was no water in the cove, but I will tell you even with no water this property is amazing! The privacy, hot tub, relaxing spacious deck space, and abundance of morning songbirds made the perfect combination for our vacation! The basement gaming room was a huge hit with our teenage boys! The house was clean and ready for us upon arrival. This is truly "the perfect spot"

Property manager is great. Very easy to talk to, responsive, and friendly. House had everything we needed. We had a couple hiccups when we were there but we also got hit with surprise snow our first night and we were coming out of a week of record cold. I’m attributing the hiccups to the cold but it is my only reason for not leaving 5 stars. Some things to note. You go up a steep hill to get to the property, make sure you bring the right vehicle. Our fwd Tiguan couldn’t make it up the hill in the snow the first night. Fortunately a neighbor through us in their car to get to the house and our car made it the next morning when it melted. If it is cold, the basement does get a little chilly, but the owner was happy to bring us space heaters. Wouldn’t mind staying again next time we visit at all. Thanks for sharing your home with us.

From ages 15 to 82, a total of seven family members shared this wonderful home. Can’t wait for a spring or summer visit to see it in ALL its beauty! A light dusting of snow put just the right touch on it for us. Thank you Hugh and Sharon for the lovely accommodations.

I can not express what a wonderful stay we had. This is by far the best home we have ever stayed in using VRBO. The house was immaculate! I can not say enough good things about the owners. They went out of there way to make sure we had everything we needed. They were very quick to respond to any question I had. When I asked how many camping chairs they had, they asked how many extra I would need and then left them at the property (before we got there). What a sweet surprise that was. They really went the extra mile to make sure everything was perfect for our visit. With other VRBO stays we have always packed "extra" because we just get a few toiletries, a starter dish soap, etc. This home had everything we needed for the week. The owner was extremely kind and generous, the property beautiful, the home had everything we needed and then some. Our kids really enjoyed the movie area and the ping pong. I enjoyed the hot tub.
It really was a perfect week. Oh and all of us loved the Bush Beans self guided tour and gift shop nearby. Who knew?!?
We will definitely be back!

We had an amazing time. Owners were great and communicated frequently. Location was fabulous and having direct access to lake was awesome. We had a great family time and the kids had the time of their lives. You are less then five minutes from boat rentals and 10 minutes from town. The house has plenty of room and everything you may need to be comfortable and enjoy your time. Can’t wait to come back!!!!!

Excellent Lake House!
Property was better then expected. Great location in a quiet neighborhood but convenient to local grocery, the marina, Pigeon Forge, & Gatlinburg. Water was some of the best I've seen and located on the end of a cove so no boat traffic to worry about when the kids were swimming. A few things to note about the property: there's a corn hole set, many fold out chairs on the deck, and propane for the grill and very nice fire pit. Overall one of the nicest VRBO's I've stayed in, the whole family wants to return. Hugh was very responsive to any questions asked about the house before and while staying there. You will NOT be disappointed in renting this for a relaxing beautiful lake vacation!

Loving lake living
Fantastic location - right on the lake, with a dock to swim off of and tie-up the pontoon. We had lots of room for our 3 families (with kids of all ranges), enjoyed the hot tub plus the game room was a big hit at night for cards and ping-pong. Big thanks to Hugh - easy check-in, helped us with quick answers and had all the extras provided. LOVE LOVE this place!

Christmas Vacation 2021
A nice quite get away, about 20 minutes from Pigeon Forge. Would be a great place to stay during summer when lake is full. The only complaint from our group were the beds. The only bed that slept well was the one in the master bedroom.

Country Getaway
Quiet, somewhat secluded property makes for great private getaway. Nice floor plan upstairs with nice furniture. Loved the double decks on the back side of the house. Fairly clean, reasonable requests for departure by owners, and accurately portrayed online with photos. Look forward to renting again during summertime.

Nice and Cozy
This was a great cabin and a perfect location. Easy to find. It did advertise a lake, but it was all dried up, which didn't matter to us.
I recommend this place to anyone.

Great Stay!
What a nice home and neighborhood. Great communication with property manager. Our girls (three -16 year olds) selected the home from several we searched out. Their reason; the basement game room! The home was perfect for our family. We ventured out each day to go to the Smokey Mountains and when we returned, the girls retreated to the lower level while we rested upstairs, on the porch swing, or the back deck. The house was equipped with everything we needed to cook meals, even a gas BBQ grill on the back deck. The house had ample general supplies (coffee, coffee filters, toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, garbage bags, laundry, dish & dishwasher soap). Although the house was on a lake, which the description explained the lake is drained in the fall, it was still beautiful with the water that was there. The grocery store is about twenty minutes away. We even visited a Walmart to resupply the ping-pong balls (yes, the girls played ping-pong every night!). Our host also brought in board games and cards, as I had asked if they had any at the house. The kitchen table was plenty big for meals and games. Multiple places to eat, as they also had a large island & table on the deck. The only negative was the distance from the Smokey Mountains, which had nothing to do with the house, as we soon learned the roads in Tennessee are narrow and much like a roller coaster...a mile in Minnesota equals one minute, a mile in Tennessee equals 4-5 minutes. So we ended up driving an average of three hours a day to get to the Smokey Mountains. If you rent this home for the lake, you will not be disappointed, as there are still fun things close to the house to explore: Dandridge has a cool little drugstore that still has a soda fountain, an old cemetary to explore and a neat historical museum. Ten minutes from the house is the Bush Baked Bean Visitor Center is great! You have to watch the factory tour, explore the museum and try the pinto bean pie at their restaurant. The Forbidden Caverns are also close by. Of course lots of tourist activities in Gatlinburg & Pigeon Forge are about an hour away, including Dollywood. Overall, we were pleased and comfortable in the house. We felt safe and even got to know the neighbors. I would recommend renting the house, especially if you are going there to enjoy the lake. Just take in mind if you are planning to to go the Smokey Mountains, you will have a drive each way. Thanks for a great stay Hugh & Sharon.

Family Gathering
The property was perfect for a family to gather in and talk and visit while still having their own space. The house did need cleaned before we got there, especially the basement area; however, the upstairs bedrooms and baths were great. The cleaning crew needs to move things around in the living room to get to the leftover bags of snacks and water bottles, etc. I would still recommend the cabin; it's a great place for a family to hang out; felt very safe in the location; wasn't far from the attractions and activities in the area.

Lake vacation
The overall house was fantastic. It is back in the hills and overlooks a cove which leads out to a lake. We tied our Tritoon to the dock and it is about 6 ft deep. It was a little cautious driving the trailer to the house because there is very little room to turn a trailer around but we managed it and kept the trailer in front of house. The house was clean and had all the essentials that we needed. Look forward to going back next year. Hugh was great to deal with.

needs some updating.
all in all it was a great time for my family! it is in the process of upgrades and as a business man can completely understand and is rentable in the condition. The stair situation or should I say stairs to come down to the lake is definitely a liability. My wife busted her ass one time on the way down. I would like to say I see what the owners are turning the place to and honestly my family had a great time and the lake was absolutely beautiful!

Great stay and property
We greatly enjoyed our stay! The home was very accommodating, clean and the neighborhood was welcoming. The property was well-equipped with beach chairs to use on the dock, basic sundries in the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry room. We would definitely choose this location again the next time our timeshare here isn't available!
