This island is beautiful. The location right in the heart of the port was a great location with an excellent host. Great food and sites close by. This location deserves a visit.

Very clean Hostel with a perfectly equipped kitchen and little garden. I really loved my stay here!
8.0 / 10.0
The hostel is very well-located, the room was big enough and we loved the big windows with the view of the small garden.
The room was cleaned although there were little stains on the bed sheets and a general weird smell, not sure what it was about.
The mattress was pretty hard for me.
We have never met the owners, just the cleaning lady and she was lovely but did not speak any English.
Unfortunately in the hostel, there were some very young students, and they left a mess in the kitchen. Bottles of alcohol everywhere.

Maria is a kind lady who allowed us to leave the lugguge despite the early hour when we arrived . The room was clean, new and spacious.

Reception operated once with clever man with deep knowledge growing all kinds of herbs.
The other time reception operated with woman with no English and no willingness to accept card payment.

It's like living in IKEA - everything is cozy and new
There are no curtains in the bed, everywhere is a light smell of mold

I loved that this place had an open kitchen for your personal use. The shower was also very lovely.
The front door entrance to the building was difficult to open and close. No dedicated parking, so during the afternoon you may have to walk quite far.

Location next to the harbour was excellent. Close for any boats to other islands
Beds were very comfy and room was big
Water pressure was excellent too
The checkin process was awkward, not much communication beforehand, had to call the owner and wait for him to show up, he showed up quickly after that though.

The hostel is really close to the harbour and right in the center of Madalena.
The kitchen is not really clean and basics like sugar or tea for the coffee and tea are not filled up regulary.

Both the dorm and the bathroom were very spacious.
The kitchen is very well stocked with cooking gear, if you want to cook your own meals (I didn't).
There is a table with chairs on the patio (also one on the first floor balcony) if you want to sit/eat outside. There are 2 cats that chill in front of the patio door, but won't go inside if you leave it open ;)
You can use the washing machine for free, which is very nice.
The lockers are not very big (and quite loud when you take out your bag). The door to the room cannot be locked, and the front door is usually open during the day (luckily, there isn't much crime).
There was only ever 1 other guy in the dorm with me, so I just left most of my stuff lying around the bed. I expect hanging your towel to dry is a bit more difficult if the room is full.
The reception desk wasn't staffed during most of the day. If you had questions about the hostel you could text someone, so it wasn't much of an issue for me.
On Booking.com it said that you can pay extra for breakfast, but they really don't do breakfast at all. However, there is an A Padaria right across the street where you can buy delicious breakfast (or even whole meals).

We had a private room for our 1 night stay. The room was new, renovated, nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable. I iked that they serve a free cake, coffee a nd fruits in the kitchen. The kitchen where you could prepare you mea was well equiped. The receptionist was friendly.

The bathroom in the room, the bed, clean and wonderful. Great kitchen and washing machine. The staff was also very kind and friendly. I would like to stay here again.
Not particularly.

The hostel doesn’t offer breakfast but there is a breakfast place across the street. You still could use the kitchen and prepare meals, make coffee or tea.
The room was big enough, the locker was there, and the bathroom was clean and spacious. My bed didn’t have a light to use but I was able to charge my phone and camera.
Ok… There is something I didn’t like! It wasn’t possible to pay for the room thru booking.com. When I arrived, I decided to pay in cash. When I paid, I asked for a receipt. The receptionist, although she had a computer at her disposal, didn’t want or couldn’t print a receipt for me, and I didn’t receive even a written receipt. The explanation was that her boss on the mainland has to do it, or to approve it.
The next day I stopped at the reception again and this time I got my „receipt“. But it really wasn’t one… It was an invoice with a remark that „when paid, the invoice becomes receipt“. I need to say that for me it’s something fishy… If I wanted to avoid paying taxes, I would do exactly like that: present somebody with an invoice, asking to be paid in cash, and then just cancel the invoice saying that the transaction didn’t take place…
I guess, every honest hotel or hostel should be able to present a client with a receipt stating that the invoice has been paid, in cash or credit card, and that amount to be paid is now zero.

The hostel was rather on an expensive side so it be nice if breakfast was included. And when I booked my stay, the room was supposed to have four beds, there were five of them…

Superb, new, immaculate hostel with kind, friendly staff. All is spotless, good quality white sheets and towels. Very well equipped kitchen, pleasant garden. Washing machine for which there is no charge
Towel rails by the beds would be good

Everything was great, clean, new hotel , great location.
I wish they had people on reception for longer periods of time. Nothing critical happen, but sometimes helps if you can ask someone in the new city for advise/recommendations

The location is perfect! Very close to the city centre and restaurants and shops.
It’s not always clear when someone is at the reception or not. Also communication around check in times was very poor.

kitchen is well equipped
check-in was somewhat difficult, nobody around, didn’t speak English.
I booked a 4 bed dorm and got a 6 bed dorm
