The couple who run the guest house are so friendly. They help you with everything you want to know and tells you a lot about the culture.

The house location is good and full of many delicious and traditional Kuching Chinese food court nearby.

The house is well-decorated with some historical pictures and beautiful paintings of original Kuching. It is a traditional and typical Chinese house (I think), and always let me feel easy and comfortable. Also, let me understand and experience the early Chinese life in Kuching.

The staff was super friendly and the breakfast very decent. The location was great, too.
There are three cats in the hostel, and this was not mentioned anywhere. I have an allergy, so it was pretty challenging even though the staff went above and beyond to accommodate me. Their understanding was very much appreciated 🐱

The location is good, easy walk to the city center. Breakfast was good with a lot of choices. The host really tries to connect the staying people. Also there is a hot shower
The guesthouse could be cleaner, the bathroom but also the area in the hostel. In our room there was no window for fresh air

The ladies of the hostel are nice. The place is quite dark and over prized. You get a better room with own bathroom for less just around the corner.
We visit Malaysia for 38 years - this is the most unfriendly hostel owner we ever came across. He is a shame for the good people of Sarawak.
We prepaid the room with booking.com and it said in the Pricing Information that the Tourist Tax was included.
We checked in and bought 2 beers and 1 water which we paid with a 50 MYR bill. Enter the hostel owner. He screamed at my wife and claimed that he cancelled the contract with booking and does not get paid by them. So he just kept the change (30 MYR). My wife was in tears because he screamed at her so rude.
When we checked with the Tourist information they called him and again he screamed at the lady calling. He is super aggressive to women - and lied again about his contract being cancelled and not receiving money.
A scary place with a nightmare owner.
We were so glad to leave.
Plus we ended up with paying the Tourist Tax twice. A very bad experience.

Really nice staff and owners. Very helpful and hospitable. Comfortable beds. Easy to meet other travellers. Great breakfast.
I'm a very light sleeper so everything wakes me up and walls are really thin.

This is such a good place. Sam is terrific and so is his wife, whose name I always get wrong. Warm, friendly and helpful. This was my second booking there, and a friend of theirs was painting a mural on the reception area wall while I was there - he was also a great cook. There were cats (this is Kuching!)

It was a delight staying with Sam and co. A very welcoming place

This is an authentic old school Kuching place, very laid back. The breakfast is great, they serve awesome coffee. What makes this place special is that Sam and his wife go out of their way to accommodate you. Sam even arranged a personal guide and driver arranged for a national park that was far away. Lots of inexpensive, good Chinese and Malaysian good in the area. Also a good spot to meet other backpackers, to split tours and friendship of course! I would definitely stay again!
You better like cats, there are several!

The owners of the hostel are some of the friendliest people we have met on our trip, really helpful for planning our excursions and overall great to chat to. The hostel has great facilities, breakfast in the morning and the rooms are comfortable and bathrooms are clean. Great atmosphere and plenty to do in and around Kuching.

We loved this hostel. Sam and his wife (sorry I can't remember your name, it was a while ago now!) are fantastic. So helpful and friendly and automatically feel right at home. Help to plan things and so much information. We were there as a rafflesia flower bloomed and we rented sams van and a group of us went off. Was great. It's very easy to get to bako from here (stay at least one night and leave big packs here). The first room we had the bed wasn't so comfortable but we asked to move and the second bed was so comfy. Shared bathrooms with good showers and enough of them so never had to wait. And a lovely communal kitchen and sitting area. We met lots of friendly people here who we then met up with along the way on our trip. Best breakfast we had in borneo. Thoroughly recommend.
Our room didn't have an external window but that is quite normal it seems in borneo as we had a lot like this on our trip. And it did have a little nightlight by the bed which was great for the morning. Apart from that nothing to dislike.

It was a pleasure staying at this guesthouse. The owners are really friendly and helpful and can provide a lot of information about the nearby national parks and how to get there. They also offer cheap transportation, if needed.
For me, everything was perfect. However, if you don't like cats, this guesthouse might not be the right location for you.

The Uncle that runs this place is extremely friendly and is willing to point us in the right direction for everything we asked. He also offers lodgers a ride to local food spots. Breakfast is provided as well, freshly made springs rolls, and of course toast and cereal as well. Refreshments are also sold including beer. Free parking available. It's walking distance to the waterfront area, Top Spot food court and also it's right behind Chinatown
