The full kitchen has all the small and major appliances and counter space the group chef could ask for, and you'll have plenty of counter space to work on as well. Nice big house, plenty of room, fairy tale forest yard! We didn't have time to use all available amenities- hot tub, fire place, outdoor fire pit etc. Used Boca balls!

We loved this charming home that was set in the redwoods but next to the ocean. It had a wonderful gathering area/family room where watched movies and the America Cup. Comfortably sat 8+.
We will be back!
The hot tub was delightful, walks at night through the neighborhood, and playing soccer outdoors were splendid.

Beautiful property. Overall great stay. Did the trick!
A couple of minor notes:
- the cabin has thin walls between rooms
- bathroom towels were limited
- no laundry facilities available

It’s a beautiful home, thus is the second time we stayed here. However this time we noticed the house needs a little tlc in some areas. There are pieces on the floor missing in the hallway. Safety hazard. But beautiful home , relaxing hot tub, great location in town

The house is quite large and easily accommodated all 6 of us (plus a baby). It's a short drive to downtown Mendocino and all the beaches. Highly recommend this place.

LOVED this home! We were looking for a quiet, dog-friendly getaway near Mendocino and this home had it all! The pictures are very accurate but at the same time don't quite convey how truly large and open the main living area is- which was s delightful surprise. I absolutely loved having my morning coffee in the bay window, reading in one of the many seating areas in the open concept living space, or lounging on the wrap around porch. The layout of the home allowed for lots of time together or we had the option to retreat to many of the quiet spaces around the home- both inside and out, to recharge. The dog run area was a really helpful addition to the home and allowed our pups (2 small dogs ~10-12lbs) to run around without the worry of having them off leash in a new area. The hot tub was wonderful way to unwind at the end of the day or just relax on the back patio area with snacks and wine.
This home is definitely for tree-lovers and while you could technically see the ocean, it was far enough down the hill that the we were insulated from the cold and the wind.
We traveled with my in-laws and my 11 year old, the home is great for families and fur-family members. We had one person in our group that with mobility limitations and uses assistive devices so it was nice to have a range of bathroom options (step-in shower) for different abilities. Overall- highly recommend and it's close enough to both Mendocino and Ft. Bragg that you could easily run to town or go adventuring and never feel like you're too far of a drive from your "home base". Love it!

Wonderful house among the redwoods. The house was very spacious and clean with plenty of places to stretch out and play board games. The hot tub worked really well and the kitchen had everything that we needed for cooking. The setting was so quiet and peaceful. We would have loved to have our dog with us but she was over the 15 lb limit.

The living room of the house was perfect, we could all hang out together to play family games, eat and relax. It was the perfect gathering place. The wood stove was awesome and made the room so cozy and nice. They already had wood ready to go! The house is in a nice neighborhood and with a short walk you can see the coast. The drawback of the property is the 4th bedroom is an addition to the garage so whoever stays in there is really separate from the group, but my parents stayed in there and liked they couldn’t hear any noise from the family games.
The laundry saga…
The local rental company failed to update the VRBO listing so we thought there was a washer and dryer and there is no laundry facilities. (You can see them in the garage but you do not have access) They only had 1 bath towel per person which was ok, but if there is no laundry they should provide more towels.
At this price point we expected a washer and dryer. The homeowners should know the local company post the wrong info on VRBO. The rental company told us to go to a laundry mat if we wanted to do laundry instead of apologizing for posting incorrect info about the house. Like we wanted to spend our vacation sitting in a laundry mat. My husband and my Dad had to go to the local place in person for them to make it right by giving us a small credit for each night.

The kitchen can use more pots, pans, glasses, etc. Customer service was not very helpful when the lock door stopped working.

Spacious living room with a huge T.V. The backyard is very relaxing. The deck is amazing and you can see the ocean through the trees.

Surfood Getaway was perfectly located minutes from downtown Mendocino and close to lots of hiking. The house was clean and decorated well. Lots of parking and 4 rooms for a big family. We enjoyed cooking and watching movies on the big screen TV. Kitchen items need an upgrade. There's only one frying pan and it is well used and icky. Only one hot mitt that is so thin you burn your hands pulling things from the oven. No cutting board. Neighbors dogs are almost always outside and they bark relentlessly every time you go outside which made using the BBQ and fire pit unenjoyable. There was no access to the washer and dryer which may be a problem for people staying longer than a couple nights. A landscape crew showed up and wanted to mow, weed whack and blow while we were relaxing so we had to listen to that for an hour. It would have been nice to be told the schedule so we could have been out during their work time. We chose this house because other reviews said the hot tub was crystal clean, but when we arrived, it was filthy and smelled awful. I contacted Vacasa right away, but spent hours of my time texting, sending pictures and videos to prove there was an issue. When I finally got connected with the local team, they were able to send someone out the next day but we still drained and the hot tub and refilled it ourselves, the maintenance guy just cleaned out all the dirt. We lost 2 days of hot tub use so that was a drag.

Loved the big windows and spacious living room. 3 decent sized bedrooms in the main house, 1 smaller bedroom attached to the garage that you access from outside. Kitchen is a bit old - one of the cabinet doors was falling off - and wasn’t super well stocked (some of the pans probably need to get replaced). House was freezing when we arrived and since it has such high ceilings, it took about 6 hours to heat up. Couldn’t locate any space heaters initially, but then found two in the closet in the bedroom attached to the garage.

Literally in a redwood forest! House is good. Big family room, decently stocked kitchen. Fantastic hot tub which was very clean, just like the rest of the house. Great location, very close to Mendocino.

We booked our stay to escape the Sacramento heat, and we couldn’t be happier with this property. Everything from the surrounding tall redwoods to the roomy hot tub to the spacious, well-designed house was a 10/10. Plus, this property is extremely well-located with downtown Mendocino less than a five minute drive away.

Property was precisely as described online. Very close to the town of Mendocino, as well as state parks, beaches, nearby attractions. Would gladly go again.

Mendocino Magic
Relaxing under soft blankets on the deep couch looking out into the surrounding redwoods was magical. There were little peak a boo views of the Pacific Ocean from the house. Bed was extremely comfortable. We will be back!

Beautiful spot in Mendocino redwoods
The location of this house is amazing - it is close to Mendocino and Fort Bragg, but set back in a quiet redwood neighborhood. The kitchen is well-stocked, and there is a place for everyone to study, have coffee and do their own thing. The only drawback for us was that the back bedroom was not clean and the garbage in the house was overfilled, so we worried initially that someone else was staying there when we arrived. (Turns out, just a miss by the cleaning team.) Still highly recommend this house to those traveling with a group of adults or teenagers.

Family Retreat
My five daughters and two adult grandchildren enjoyed a very rare long weekend together coming from Canada, LA, Sonoma County Redding and Chico. We loved the openness, the natural light, the well-equipped kitchen, the many conversation areas and, of course, the yard and hot tub area. This lovely home exceeded all our expectations.

Fantastic House in the Redwoods
After a 20 month hiatus, our whole family of eight, (5 adults and 3 children), spent three nights reconnecting and enjoying the comforts of home in an amazing setting. The house offered everything we needed including a kitchen filled with cooking utensils, a table large enough for everyone, comfy beds, and a large lovely back yard with a fire pit. S’mores we’re one of our highlights, along with playing among the trees. The games were quality and a big hit. Also appreciated was the quick response when we realized one of the showerheads was missing, for some mysterious reason. Within 30 minutes a handyman came and installed a new one. we are already planning a visit for next August. Thank you!

Outstanding House
To say this place exceeded our expectations is putting it mildly. I loved the cleanliness of the home, we have rented other cabins and homes before that supposedly were clean only for us to have to clean them ourselves. My wife always packs bedding and pillows and extra linens and she found the cleanliness and quality of the home so good that she did not use any of our own things. This is a huge thing as she is extremely OCD about cleanliness. The little details and decorations of the home were outstanding as you can tell the love and care put into their selection. Things like the bird house on the tree, the lighthouse on the front, the drawing on the cement made it a wonderful discovery. The location of the house is perfect as you feel you are secluded in the forest and ocean but within very close to distance to towns and city. We have stayed at places where a hot tub is present and we have not used it because of its filthiness and overall aspect, well this not the case with this hot tub. It was in pristine condition and so clean it was super inviting we spent a ton of time in it. The home had everything in the kitchen you need for meals such as oven and pots and pans and utensils. Overall we highly recommend this home to everyone and we hope to be able to stay there once more in the future!!
