Relax on our covered porch or the deck that providing a view of the forest and mountains. On the back deck is the hot tub and a gas grill. This is a perfect spot to sit and enjoy the sounds of the national forest, and waterfall.

Surrounding Areas
No matter the time of year, this four season destination has something for everyone! In Spring and Summer there is plenty of mountain and lake recreation, foliage viewing in the fall and winter snow skiing. The property is 40 minutes from the Boone, NC Ski slopes (Sugar, App and Beech Mountains), Johnson City TN, and Bristol for the big Nascar race. Hike endless trails nearby, indulge at the Watauga Lake Winery, Golf at some of the most beautiful and challenging courses in NC, or zip line at Off The Grid.
Our community has a private marina and boat ramp tucked into a quiet cove on the lake. Bring your boat and dock it at our boat slip or just walk down for a day of fishing right off the marina. Watauga Lake is one of the cleanest lakes in the country making it the perfect spot to swim, fish, ski or boat around this expansive high mountain lake. At our boat slip we have several options for fun on the lake including 2 brand new "sit in" kayaks, a third "sit on" kayak, a full-size paddleboard and a super fun paddleboat to take out on the cove. We highly recommend renting a ski or pontoon boat at one of the public marinas as that is one of the best ways to enjoy the lake. Docking privileges at our marina is included. The area is also one of the top trout fishing destinations in the country. Catch trophy rainbows on the Watauga River or, for the more experienced fly fisherman, book a guided trip for a shot at a wild, indigenous, brown trout that can grow to over 30" in the clean, cold waters of the South Holston River.
Depending on the time of year, your welcome letter will include recommendations on the places to go, and things to do that will make your trip one to remember.
This is a family rental so no large parties, Bachelor/Bachelorette parties or large gatherings of any kind are allowed.

I personally would never rent this particular cabin again or recommend to anyone. Upon opening the door, I walked straight into a cobweb. Not a huge issue or deal breaker but my main issue was walking upstairs. There is no insulation so just walking from the bathroom to the room sounds like moving furniture around from the lower level. After the first night we all had to go to bed at the same time each night which was not ideal.
Absolutely no view of the lake unless you peep through overgrown shrubbery. The photos on the listing have been updated now so that's good. The walk to the lake/private dock is a long one. Especially when carrying a lot of items. And the way back is all uphill.
Overall, we had a good time because I'm always going to make the most of it, but I would personally never rent this cabin again.
I will say the property manager was really nice and helped with some water and power issues that happened unexpectedly. He kept me updated through the process.
I wasn't thrilled when he tried to send someone out to repair the deck damage (that was there when we arrived) during our stay. I asked him not to and he didn't per my wishes. Wasn't trying to hear banging any more than we already did with the walking upstairs.

We couldn't ask for more, my family loved staying in Tree top lodge. Cabin is very, very clean, beautifully decorated, very good beds, pillows, sheets, towels, everything looks like new and good qulity. Hot tub was hot when we arrived and it stays hot throughout the stay. Cabin is well stocked and you can't run out of basics and even more. We had keurig coffe cups provided for our whole stay! Kids loved bunch of games, toys, books, tv in each room. Very easy access to the lake, few min down the road. Very nice, small neighborhood. I sure would stay again, maybe in summer next time, but fall foliage around the cabin and lake is magnificent this time of the year.

Nice cabin in beautiful location.

Great property! Beautiful, clean cabin with toys/games/books, well stocked kitchen & comfy beds. Ate all meals out on the deck and hung out around the fire. Even saw a bear one night! Only issue was RedAwning Property Mgmt could not answer basic questions. We tried to determine how far the walk was to the lake before arrival, but they never responded. It is a very steep walk down to the lake which was hard for our young son. Wasn’t too big of a deal to drive, though. Our son caught his first fish off the dock. Great family memories we will always cherish. Fun weekend getaway. Would recommend, as long as you are ok not having easy access to the lake.

Home was very clean! Lots of communication between the owner and us, renters. We had everything we needed and when there was a problem with the lock, there was direct communication with the property manager and it was handled immediately. Great stay!!

The home and location were beyond beautiful! The only issue was, in the pictures, it showed access to the lake, which we thought was direct access. It also showed a paddle boat and canoes. We saw both on the community dock but had no idea which was ours to use. Also, the paddle boat and canoes we saw were really dirty. Other than that, perfect place!

Very pleased. Loved the cabin/location. A couple of amenities listed were not there. Other than that fabulous stay.

My husband and I went away for our anniversary and wanted to hike portions of the Appalachian Trail. This property exceeded our expectations. It was VERY clean, comfortable and had a beautiful view. We enjoyed finding local spots to hike and explore. I would say, locally, there are very few places to eat or go out, which wasn’t a concern for us, but something to consider if you would stay.

Everything went very smoothly

We were in town for a weekend at Bristol. The home was beautiful, well stocked, and quite comfortable. It was nice to come back to after a long day at the races. It was a little tough to find at first, I definitely recommend arriving during the day as was suggested in the listing. The only downside was that we thought it was closer to the lake but with 2 small kids it was a little too far so we didn’t get to enjoy that. Otherwise, we truly enjoyed our weekend!

Beautiful setting
Tree Top Lodge is the perfect family getaway. The house is beautiful and has everything you will need for a relaxing time. It is nestled in the trees giving plenty of privacy. The waterfall, firepit, and large deck are just a few of the areas to unwind. The paddleboat at the marina was a big hit with the adult children. Our family will be returning!

Lovely Cabin tucked into a National Forest
My family of 5 had a wonderful time at this cabin tucked away in a peaceful spot. We loved the outdoor space as much as the inside. The toys, games, and books at our disposal kept the kids happy. The trail into the forest ends quickly, but we did come across a baby deer hiding out up there. That was a highlight for my 7 year old!

Mountain Lake Getaway
Tree Top Lodge provided the perfect getaway for our family. It was perfectly appointed. We ate dinner on the picnic table on the deck every night. It provided beautiful lake and forest views. We were able to relax and spend quality family time hanging out by the fire pit, in the living room in front of the fireplace, out on the back deck enjoying the birds and particularly the hummingbirds visiting the feeder throughout the day. It was a wonderful TN mountain getaway! The owner was very responsive. The home is nicely appointed with linens, towels, kitchen equipment. It was a great cabin in the woods.

Beautiful mountain lodge
My husband and I stayed in this gorgeous mountain cabin in April and our stay exceeded our expectations. The check in information was clear and precise, directions lead us straight to the front door! The cabin was clean and stocked with all the essentials and even some spices and coffee accessories! Lake view from the porch rockers was gorgeous and hot tub was amazing even on the cooler nights. We not only enjoyed the electric fireplace indoors but the outdoor fire pit as well. The lake was a little cool to venture out on the kayak but it was nice to know they were available. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing getaway, this is the place to be!

Great place! It has everything! Would definitely stay again!

Beautiful property!!! Very quaint
Overall a cute place in a remote location. Most things in town are a 30-45 min drive away so keep that in mind. The lake is gorgeous but was a bit too cold to try out the canoes. My only complaint was the master bedroom is directly under one guest room and there is no insulation so you can hear everything. There was also a mouse trap stuck to the guest room upstairs curtain. Keep in mind there isnt a dinning room in this rental if you need that! I would stay here again in a return trip. Manager was polite!

Fall bliss
My husband and I were seeking some cooler temperatures and fall leaves and the Tree Top Lodge fit the bill perfectly. Located in a gated neighborhood on Watauga Lake, this cabin appeared brand new, tastefully decorated and slept very comfortably. All of the essentials were present, even some snacks, coffee and laundry detergent. We grilled outside one evening and found the string of market lights set a beautiful and welcoming ambiance. Although we didn't use the hot tub, it's conveniently located on the deck and ready to go, already heated!. Mark encouraged us to enjoy the lake at the nearby marina, and we did! The kayaks were easy to use and provided a serene view of the lake, other properties and the Cherokee National Forest. Tip: if you don't want to risk getting wet, launch the kayaks from the marina boat ramp. We hope to return to the cabin again. Great value, super host, and impeccable decor.....all ensuring our trip was just what we needed. 🍂

Perfect Vacation!
Our family thoroughly enjoyed our vacation in this gorgeous cabin. The cabin is beautifully decorated with many special touches. It’s only a couple of minutes to walk to the Lake where we enjoyed paddle boarding and boating. We enjoyed the incredible views, the hot tub, and our boys enjoyed the basketball hoop which was a bonus. The owner is wonderful and everything exceeded our expectations! Can’t wait to go back!

Amazing mountain getaway
This property is flat out amazing. Great Mountain View’s, close to awesome hiking trails, extremely clean and well kept property, and the host was extremely helpful before and during the stay. The beautiful lake is a short walk away, and the kayaks and paddle board provided are great. I highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to disconnect and have an amazing mountain vacation.
