Let me say first of all, the host are incredible people. We went to Washington DC for the fourth of July and when we went to the roof to watch the fireworks, there were plenty to see. There was a dampness in the air, for it did rain only a little bit before the fireworks started, which may have caused the professional show to fizzle out a bit. However, the neighbors all around the city let their fireworks fly in the spirit of Patriotism and they did not disappoint.
Let's talk about the condo: Clean does not define this property, it was immaculate. From the bathrooms to the kitchen to the living room, a person would be hard to find a problem. The hosts, Mark and Nicole, welcomed my daughter and I warmly and graciously.
Are there any downsides: Not really, Mark and I discussed a problem and he took it as constructive criticism, for I have a disability and did not disclose that. I do not make it a point to let anyone go out of their way to accommodate me, for I am a grown person who needs no special treatment.
Would I stay there again: In a heartbeat. The following evening, Saturday, was still available, but alas our return flights were for Saturday and I could not change them. The host and hostess are a delight and I look forward to staying there again if and when I get back to DC anytime soon.
This is a great place to stay and great people who make you welcome. Five stars all the way.
Thank you Mark and Nicole,
John and Leah

Great location with great amenities. Host is very responsive to any questions or concerns. If you're going to DC....recommend this location

This was by far the cleanest rental we have stayed in. Plenty of towels and space for my family of 4. Even the couch turns into a bed, so my kids didn’t have to ‘share’ a bed. We found a couple little spots to pick up minimal groceries and a few restaurants in the area. We spent our days exploring DC and the surrounding area. The apartment was a nice refuge from the daily seeing. One evening we were so exhausted we just stayed in. The neighbors were kind and the neighborhood was maintained nicely too.
Communication was easy and often via the vrbo app. We would recommend this rental to others in the area. We had a car and never had an issue w parking (parallel only in the area) We never took the metro.

Thanks, Mark, for the nice night in your place on Irving Street. You were great about communicating. Appreciate your being so available. Will try to stay here again when visiting our son and his fiancee in Columbia Heights!

Fantastic! Super clean, nice space! Owner gave us all the details. Had dinner on the roof with a great view. Well stocked too. We would definitely come back. Only good things to say about our stay!!!

Everything was neat, easily accessible. No issues at all.

It was fairly clean except for mold around tubs and large stain in back bedroom carpet. Towel rack broken and missing in back bathroom. Neighborhood is deteriorating a lot of trash on street. Overall nice experience but would most likely not come back. The 10 am check out is pretty early especially when you can't check in until 4. Overall good stay

The property owner is great! When we got there, the blow dryer was on its last leg to say the least. I messaged the property owner and a new one was at the front door when we got back from dinner!
The house has all the kitchen stuff you need … even a Britta water filter in the refrigerator. The owner also left us a bottle of wine.
If you’re a foodie the location is an easy walk to some great restaurants. Get the Michelin Guide and know you can’t go wrong with any of the Bib Gourmand rated places within walking distance!
The weather was rainy and chilly while we were there so we opted for Uber rather than walking to any of the Metro stops. We had no issues getting an Uber to the house quickly.
Beds were great and everybody slept super well … especially the ones staying in the extra dark inner room! You could sleep for days in there and have no idea you missed the day!
The view from the rooftop deck is a million dollar view. The weather didn’t afford for us to enjoy it much, but if you are there in good weather, you will want to grill out & hang up there!
Be aware this is a bottom floor apartment and you can hear any walking around above you. Also, the internet service is really bad in the front room/den and affects the ability to watch stuff on the TV … however the internet is smoking in the master bedroom and TV works fine back there. If you are coming for work and need stable internet you will have to work from the master bedroom or use a hot spot.

Clean house, comfortable. The property host was responsive and helpful. Off Street Parking is tight, but no problem just folding the mirrors in on a RAV4. Walking distance to metro station, but a bit of a longer walk. Definitely recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Marks place here in Washington DC.
Mark was very communicative and check in check out were very easy.
The place was clean and comfortable with great beds, bedding , towels, and kitchen necessities.
The place is 5 blocks from Metro which was totally fine for us late 50's people to walk daily.
Highly recommend and would stay here again.
Thanks Mark for your hospitality.

Property was clean, cozy, and in a central location to get around easily in DC. Parking was a plus. Access to the metro and bus stops was within a short walking distance. Several markers located nearby. Aurora was the best for sandwiches and gelato. Mark checked in frequently by the VRBO app. We had everything we needed so we did not meet him in person. I would recommend this stay for anyone traveling to DC.

We vacationed in DC and wanted a place to just park and use public transportation to all that DC has to offer. This place was perfect! Easy access to the Columbia Heights station. The space had a great layout, was clean and had everything we needed. Mark was a wonderful host and so responsive if we had any questions. I would definitely stay here again!

We had a wonderful visit in DC and the location and comfort of this home was prefect for the 5 of us. The manager gave us dining information and promptly responded to our questions and needs.

Our week stay in DC was perfect. This property is just a few blocks from the Metro in Columbia Heights which made travel all over the city and to Alexandria very inexpensive and easy. We felt very safe in this multicultural neighborhood. While there we made several meals “at home” and found everything we needed to do so. Mark responded to every question quickly and made us feel welcomed. We would definitely return if visiting DC again. Thanks,
Mark.

I have been waffling between 3 and 4 stars for the property. First, I will give the positives: the host, Mark, lives upstairs and was very responsive to all requests, and there were several, which I will explain later. The parking space is a huge (!) benefit, but a small sedan is all that will fit. It’s a tight space. The property was clean and spacious. There were a few convenient food items left by other guests, like pancake mix and syrup, that was nice to use and Mark provided good coffee (always a bonus in my opinion). The towels were of good quality.
Here are the items I suggest a guest consider or be aware of: There is a steep stairway from the parking area down to the apartment (about 8 steps). Consider your personal agility in managing stairs and moving luggage up and down the stairs. It was a struggle for me and my friend. We arrived at night and there were no numbers on the building to identify we had arrived at the right place. We guessed that was the place to be and the staircase was dark. 😧 (Do we go down there?) Luckily, Mark arrived just as I was texting for help, plus the combo lock had malfunctioned so we couldn’t even get in. He fixed the lock two days later. The Internet worked about 25% of the time in the living/kitchen area, but was good in the back bedroom. Don’t trust Internet service if you need it for work. We were given 1 washcloth for a kitchen towel, but finally received two dish towels 5 days later. I asked Mark to replace some kitchen items that were in very bad condition and he did so as soon as possible. He also brought a box of tissues when requested. 👍🏻
To summarize, the 2 bedrooms and bathrooms and parking space were huge benefits. The stairs were iffy but we survived. Mark is a nice guy and attentive to our requests. Don’t trust the Internet. Bring a small vehicle.

The host was fantastic. Very pleasant neighborhood with only a brief walk to the metro made it the perfect place to stay.
The commanding 360 degree view from the roof has a lake in the foreground and the dome of the capital in the distance.
