About this house rental
Lake Side!! Boater's paradise! Bring your Boat, Canoe, Kayak. Silent walk to the water, “NO STEPS”. From the rear porch you can see the lake, and from time to time, deer and turkeys. This lake home has it all: Full kitchen, living room area, upstairs loft, Sunroom. Swing for 2 in the edge of the woods facing the lake. Stroll down to the water's edge and wet a line or take a dip. (Bring Extra Towels - You'll Want to Get Wet!) Barren River Lake is known for its Bass, Crappie, Hybrid Bass and Large Catfish fishing. As night begins to fall, find a place on the bank and watch as moonbeams beckon the water to dance. Or just curl-up in a chair and read that favorite book.

My family of 5 stayed here as we navigated a variety of different attractions in the area that were literally minutes away. Loved the setup, experienced woodland creatures, fishing, camp fire smores and grilling in this secluded woodland comfort. Would do it again.

My sons and I really enjoyed our time at Sweet Waves. There is plenty of space, it was clean, and we loved being able to go down to the lake. Thanks!

Propery had everything that was needed. Everything was clean. Perfect place to get outside, fish, swim in the lake, enjoy the outdoors and close enough to explore Mammoth Cave.

We pleasure boated, fished and relaxed. The kids had a blast and the adults did too. Very nice cabin with great accommodations. Having a dock slip is a game changer when boating for an extended period.
Would definitely recommend for a family vacay. We plan on retuning in the future!

It is a secluded house in the woods. Very clean and had everything we needed. Doesn't really have a view of the lake. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't kind to the area and before we got there the lake got so much water that all the docks were under water and the beaches were closed. So we stayed in more than anticipated. The house is not a very bright place with lots of natural light. But would be perfect for evening retreat after a day on the lake.

Very comfortable. Easy check in and check out
Would like to visit again and spend more time enjoying the property and the lake.

We stayed for four nights and it was a very relaxing stay. The lake was very low, and we looked up the lake to find that it is lower during certain times, so that is something to consider activity wise, depending on when you stay. We had fires and roasted smores nightly, enjoyed the deck and grill usage, fished (unsuccessfully, lol) and enjoyed being able to cook at the house since there are little options for eating out without driving 25 minutes. I was glad there were cleaning supplies there-I vacuumed daily thanks to my heavy shedding dogs. I was able to have instacart deliver a few things from Food Lion which was nice. The pamphlets, maps, and guides in the guest book were so helpful, and we all left wishing we could stay-I can't recommend it enough!

Access to lake, two paddle boards and a canoe was amazing! Great dock location for floating and swimming! Home had everything needed!

Great lakehouse, very private, near the end of a dead end street. We stayed for a week and just wish it could have been longer. Caught (and released) dozens of fish off the pier and had many fun hours out floating on the lake. The house is fully furnished: a few welcome surprises that I haven't seen mentioned in other reviews are fishing gear, inflatable lounges, small dog bed, dog food and water bowls, blender, and lawnchairs. We had my little sedan loaded to capacity and would have packed a lot lighter knowing that all these were available. Greg and Lora are great hosts, very responsive and we could tell they take pride in maintaining a great family lakehouse and work hard to save their guests a 20 minute drive to town for incidentals. The internet really lives up to the high speed claims, can easily watch movies on prime video or youtube on a stormy day. Looking forward to the next time we can get away!

Sweet Waves is located in a quiet remote area, with direct lake access. The home is well maintained, stocked with all the essentials, and has several rooms for family members to get private space. Full kitchen, 2 full bathrooms, plenty of towels, kitchen utensils, and board games. A short walk to the dock and we were able to paddle board and swim. There is a canoe available as well. Don’t hesitate to book this place for your family, you will love it. We stayed 5 days and visited local attractions like Mammoth Cave, Kentucky Down Under animal park, and the National Corvette Museum in Bolingreen. Greg was very responsive and helpful during our stay. Thanks for sharing your home!

The woods, the lake, the wild life, the bonfires, the house and it’s amenities and it’s cleanliness - all made for a very peaceful weekend where we had so much fun and made beautiful memories. We brought far too many things that weren’t needed because this house has it all - well stocked kitchen, so many outdoor chairs, lots of pillows, games, big family table… I could go on. 😀 Exceptional lake house!

Even though it rained our entire trip, this property still gave our family the peaceful setting and amazing memories that we will always remember! The hosts had a bunch of board games that came in handy on the rainy days we spent there. Would definitely recommend and have already talked about going back one day!

A beautiful cabin directly on the lake. We had a wonderful time. Please be sure to bring food and provisions before getting there. Grocery stores can be a bit of a drive. But you will definitely enjoy this cabin. We will surley come back.

We stayed with 2 kids and our dog and had a great time. It’s about 30 minutes from the caves. The place was clean and the kitchen had the essentials for cooking. We didn’t see anyone else the entire stay, it was nice to be in the woods away from it all. We will definitely be back!

All you would expect from a lake-house VRBO. But the extras made it much better: gas grill & dinning area on the deck, fire pit & roasting skewers for hot dogs & marshmallows, fully stocked kitchen with utensils for grilling. The big plus was the canoe with life vests, paddles and wheeled cart for transport down to the lake. Paddling was a highlight for the kids.

This was our second experience renting a VRBO and we have been extremely happy with each. The house was clean and roomy on the inside. The outdoors had plenty of comfortable seating as well as a fire pit. The path to the lake was well marked and easy to use. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of amenities. The bedrooms were comfortable. We will definitely consider renting again depending on availability.

We had a nice stay. It was clean, and had all of the amenities we needed to make meals there. Plus, it was comfortable. It's tucked away, so if you want a quite get away place, this is it. It was about a 25 min drive to Mammoth Cave, and 20 min Glasglow. All in all, it was a very pleasant stay.

Our family loved this property. We had so much fun playing in the lake and fishing from the shore. We even took the paddle board out for a trip along the cove. Good times were had by all. The cabin is away from all the busy traffic of the lake, which we loved and an easy drive to Mammoth Caves.
Great place to stay!

Lake Getaway
Great Lake House with nice furnishings and space. It's nicer than the pictures . A 3 minute walk to the lake where we fished and used the owners' canoe and paddle board along with our kayak. Lots of outdoor and indoor seating. I think it would be beautiful in the Fall. I met the owners when they were nice enough to fix a slight kitchen sink issue and they gave the boys tips on catching fish. Great hiking trails and cave tours at Great Mammoth National Park.

Fun, Comfy and Quiet!
Beautiful lake, nice dock, squeaky clean, well equipped kitchen and laundry! Two baths were a welcome amenity! Faster WiFi than our Columbus, OH Spectrum!! We had a ball swimming, canoeing and fussing with our 14yr old's RC boat;-) Fun week!!
PS: Our two dogs behaved! No accidents!

Relaxing family vacation
We enjoyed a wonderful week at this rental. The cabin was spacious, clean, and well stocked. The short walk to the lake was perfect for swimming and the fishing was great. Greg and Lora were great hosts and even helped with finding more bait when we ran out. Thank you for sharing your lake house with us!

Ready for relaxation
The house was clean and ready for use. It was not only stocked with all the standards it also had some of the things you wouldn't think of like zip lock bags and tinfoil :-) There was enough space for everyone and the ability to hit the lake with a canoe was an excellent addition.

Great get away
This place is lovely, remote and peaceful! Great for a small get away that’s right on the lake and it’s close to mammoth cave and a number of other attractions. We’ve stayed more focused Han once and I’m sure we’ll be returning again in the future!
