Great CT River Valley location; close to I-95, Routes 1, 9 and 154. Nearby restaurants, breweries, grocery store and shopping. Could walk to Baldwin Bridge, out on the pier, watch the boats in the river, and people crabbing and fishing from pier. Off-street parking and use of one side of garage. Two bedrooms with comfortable king-size beds were great for 2 adult couples. All 3 bedrooms and full bath located on the second floor. Good closet space stocked with bath & beach towels. Gas stove, Keurig coffee machine, washer & dryer in basement and lots of board and card games. Unique quiet canal location and well-groomed yard made the rental feel special. Large TV and multiple sofas in cheerful sunroom great for hanging out.
Additional considerations for western exposure that made porch and back yard hot in the afternoon despite the large retractable awning. Floor fans used upstairs in addition to A/C due to heat. Full bath lacked space for personal toiletries. Significant deposit for this property (retained for 2 weeks after departure) and prohibitions against parties and large gatherings.

This house and property was the perfect part of the CT river to dock a boat for the week. We were able to jump on our boat whenever we wanted and not have to deal with a boat launch. The house was clean and spacious. There were plenty of towels, blankets and cooking supplies. I loved sitting outside on the deck or by the water in the Adirondack chairs. There were many games and puzzles to play when it rained out. The area is beautiful and we would love to stay here again.

This home was incredibly clean, nicely decorated, and well stocked with everything needed for a nice getaway. The bedrooms were all bright, beautiful, clean, and relaxing. Extra air-mattresses and pull out sofas allowed for more guests with nice accommodations. The kitchen was stocked with everything you would need and the living space was lovely and cozy. The technology in this home was exceptional - great TV and internet connections including a smart TV to watch things like YouTube; the awning on a remote to easily put it away in windy conditions, a key-code was given specifically to us allowing us to feel safe in an unfamiliar home, and a door system that notifies you when a door to the outside is opened - very helpful with a 3 year old near the water!
The outdoor space was great! A small deck with an awning and awesome furniture. A large flat, well-maintained lawn leading to the lagoon where we were able to secure our boat without any issue. This calm water and adequate dock allowed us to keep out boat safe and secure and explore the river. We enjoyed crabbing, watching Osprey, and catching baitfish with a cast-net from the waterfront area. The no-wake zone out of the river to the sound definitely makes for a longer ride to ocean fishing and swimming, but if you are interested in river cruising, this is a great location close to beautiful Essex, iconic Hamburg Cove, and elegant Saybrook Point Marina.
Home is located on a quiet, quaint street where the neighbors were friendly and attentive. Although there is some highway noise when sitting outside, the home offers quick access to 95 and Route 9, and the towns of Old Saybrook, Old Lyme, and Essex.
Happy with our choice to stay here!

Mike was an exceptional host and was very assessible for questions. Our family absolutely loved our stay! We had a family get-together from out-of-town and wanted them to experience some fun things around southeastern CT. The home was well appointed, very clean, and comfortable. The location was very convenient, close to Essex, Niantic, and Mystic -- perfect for evening walks, dinner, and shopping. We especially loved the backyard and dock! The dock was exceptional -- very well maintained and provided easy access to the Connecticut River (for waterskiing and sports) and Long Island Sound (fishing). Thanks for opening your home to us, Mike!
