A building full of character with fantastic views, containing superbly warm hosts and great food!
Mark and Lowri are fantastic hosts and the food is excellent! The bed was comfortable and the views towards the black mountains from the property and my room were stunning. The room was exactly what you'd expect from a 14th century building, a little crooked and some fantastic original features, which made the experience feel special. Would definitely have no hesitation in returning.
No upright/ standing shower but there was hand shower tap on the bath so it wasn't a big deal.

Quaint building, lovely location, helpful owners but bathroom needs updating
The hotel is exactly as in the photos, very old and with rustic charm, although the room we were in was in the newer part of the building. The room was spacious with a large bathroom. The location is beautiful - very much in the country. They service pub food in the restaurant - food was OK, not great. The owners were friendly and helpful.
I would have given a higher rating except for the shower - or lack of. I booked a deluxe room and didn't think I needed to specify a shower. What we got was a hand-held shower over a bath. It was hard to get the temperature right - either freezing or scalding - and the pressure and the design meant it was like being pierced with sharp needles. Essentially it meant sitting in the bath - not especially comfortable - and getting water everywhere. The bath was difficult to get out of afterwards. The room had not been dusted recently and there was a spider on the desk. NB steep stairs to the first level where the rooms are.

A bit basic on arrival, but the whole experience was fabulous....will come again!
The hosts were extremely welcoming and friendly, as were the locals eating in the bar. Dinner was homecooked and delicious, service swift. Breakfast the next morning was cooked fresh and extremely good.
The room was a little basic and perhaps a little worn, though we had everything we needed and it was very comfortable...but we had chosen the cheapest room in the hotel!

Very poor
The room was very poorly furnished with no proper table and a chipped mug to drink out of. For our evening meal we were shunted away from the restaurant to a small isolated corner of the bar area.
