We have always loved New Bern and comenevery year. The Heath house is beautiful, however, the upstairs bedroom was significantly warmer than downstairs. I went and bought a small fan to help keep my husband and I comfortable at night.

We enjoyed everything about our stay at Heath House! The home was very clean, beautifully restored, and the neighborhood is precious. It’s close to bars, restaurants and the river. We definitely will stay there again!

The house was nice in a quiet neighborhood. 5/5 would stay again

We had a wonderful stay at Heath House. It was beautifully furnished and well appointed. We were able to find everything we needed to use the kitchen and had a nice cookout on the deck.
The house is close enough to downtown to make it accessible but in a quiet neighborhood. The neighbors were very nice and took the trash out for us when they knew the trash collection was coming. New Bern is a wonderful town! Many restaurant options and so much history.
P.J. was responsive and wanted to make sure we had a great stay. We look forward to visiting again!

Our 1st visit to New Bern and this home didn’t disappoint. PJ is very easy to reach & check in was seamless.
Upon arrival the home was very clean and exactly as described. The beds were very comfy & loved enjoying morning coffee on the porch.
There are train tracks behind the home which were quite busy in the evening but overall didn’t disturb us.
The home is in great walking distance to the Riverwalk & shops. Love the history of the town.
We’ve stayed in VRBO’s all around the Country & this one is one of the best we’ve stayed in.
Thank you PJ for sharing your beautiful home!

We had a wonderful stay at the Heath House! Perfect house for our needs. Could not have been happier with the whole process and communication. Enjoyed our coffee every morning on the front porch listening to the birds and watching the comings and goings of the neighborhood cats. New Bern is awesome and the ability to walk to the shopping district was nice! Thanks for a wonderful stay!

This was our second time staying here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay once again. The home is immaculate, kitchen well stocked, and every room as comfortable as possible. The neighborhood is great and we enjoyed sitting on the front porch watching the neighborhood activity. We will definitely be back.

This home is a joy to stay in. We loved the historical aspect of staying in this turn of the century, probably working class home, near the Neuse River. We stayed about 3 weeks, long enough to enjoy the history, the neighborhood, meet the friendly and helpful neighbors and see lower outer banks towns and Cape Lookout. The home is just a mile walk or bike ride to downtown New Bern. If you really want to get the feel of a welcoming, diverse, historically rich area, stay here. PJ is a great host and was very responsive to any requests.

Lovely century house well restored to modern standards. Comfortable beds, great front porch and backyard. Kitchen well equipped - we cooked several meals here. About a mile from downtown - very walkable in good weather.

This wonderful historic home is close to downtown. A cozy, cute, southern home with many areas to relax. The backyard was entreating with large trees, manicured lawn, flowers and a fire pit. The beds were so comfortable we hardly noticed the train. Perfect for a New Bern getaway!

We enjoyed our stay at the Heath House. P.J. was very responsive to any questions or concerns we had. The neighbors were friendly and we appreciated the fresh, chocolate chip cookies at check-in. If I had to critique one thing, I would say that the house is near train tracks which run at night and can be a bit noisy for those that may be light sleepers. Other than that, we had a great time. New Bern is a beautiful area.

The house is wonderful and neighbors were super friendly. The little touches inside made us feel welcome and home for our long weekend. We did spend most of our time enjoying both front and back decks. Downtown is so charming, we spent lots of time their. Communication on check-in/out was super easy. We will definitely come back!!

The property was just perfect. We enjoyed the many amenities, the neighborhood, and the kindness of all we met. The tandem bike was great fun, thank you! The house was comfortable, well decorated, well appointed, and welcoming. I highly recommend The Heath House.

Very nice home close to downtown New Bern. The owners have thoughtfully supplied the home to make sure anything and everything you may need is available. We will be staying again in the future.

This house exceeded our expectations! It is spacious and comfortable and thoughtfully appointed. One of the best rentals I’ve stayed at. I highly recommend.

Heath House was absolutely beautiful. It felt back a journey back in time with the interior decorating. The host was very easy to communicate with. Only clarification in the description would be that the river is a little further away than described. We thought it would literally be a walk out the back door. It’s actually about a block and a half away. Would definitely stay here again, though!

My family enjoyed our time at Heath House. We used the paddle board at Lawson Creek Park, an easy 10 minute drive from the house. Downtown New Bern is a short drive or nice walk from the house. We liked exploring the area. It was a relaxing trip and the host was very helpful.

It was absolutely perfect! I felt right at home. I’m still thinking about our morning coffees on the porch. Loved the neighbors and can’t wait to go back down at some point and visit again!

Had a really nice long weekend stay at the Heath House. Super clean and comfortable, while also feeling like you were staying in a home full of history. My favorite part was sitting out on the front porch in the morning with the birds chirping outside with some views of the river. Really nice backyard with a firepit as well. The home was fully stocked and the owners were super responsive and even left some fresh baked chocolate chip cookies for us! Perfect home for two couples or a family of 4.

My friend and I loved this place. It was a comfy, yet beautiful house that felt like a home. We come to New Bern frequently to play golf and we’ll definitely return to the Heath House.

I had driven by New Bern, only seeing it from Hwy. 17, a few years back. I liked the look of it, a small town with a Waterfront.
Deciding to come back this Spring, I booked a place with PJ for 5 nights. I was not disappointed and can say the following;
PJ was an incredible host and great with communication
His home is well-appointed and has everything you need for a
stay as if you were in a top-shelf home you designed.
The neighborhood is SAFE and WALKABLE. A 10-15 min walk gets you into town and Restaurants. There is a Post Office in town- on Middle St- and a UPS Pack and SHip if needed for business, as I took advantage of. Bella's for Coffee and Pastries is a nice spot and town abounds with Restaurants and quaint shops. Definitely check-out the PEPSI Shop- as New Bern is where Pepsi started.
New Bern is a Beautiful spot and the locals are quite nice and helpful to Visitors. Traffic is light, almost non-existent, and the pace is slower. The town has Brick Buildings and the homes and businesses feature a Southern-Architecture. Downtown is clean and pleasant to spend some time in. Most everybody will say "Hi" or wave to greet you !
I highly recommend the town and the Host.

We really did not want to leave. It was so comfortable and inviting. Everything there that you could need. The live flowers are such a special touch and candles. So mamy things available that could of been used if wanted. House is so close to all that can be explored. The neighbors are terrific too. Learned so much from them. The weather was perfect. It was the best long weekend get a ways i have had. I hope we may come back.

We have stayed at multiple properties over the years visiting New Bern and this is the best property we have enjoyed. From the location, living space, along with the kitchen were perfect. The deck and BBQ setup were easy to navigate and the neighbors were a delight to talk with. We will stay here again for our next visit!

Just wanted a wonderful space to spend a last weekend alone with my daughter before she gets married Sept 17. Everything about this home was perfect. Beautifully furnished and VERY comfortable beds. And looking out the kitchen window at the beautiful, well-kept yard was amazing! It couldn't have been better. Host was immediate in answering all queries. Just great!!

I stayed at The Heath House while in New Bern for a staff retreat. It was the perfect oasis to relax between events and to host a small gathering in the evenings. The home had every amenity plus was less than a block away from the river. It is just minutes away from downtown for business meetings and restaurants, but tucked away in a quiet neighborhood for some recharge between social activities. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting New Bern!

We LOVED this house! It was probably the most homey feeling rental I have ever stayed in. You could see the care that went into the property.
PJ was very sweet to work with. He went above and beyond to help us when there was a miscommunication about our arrival time.
The house is less than a mile (a few blocks) from the heart of New Bern.
I would say it got 5 stars for every box, comfort, style, location and customer service.

Wonderful historic house close to things you want to do
I have high standards when it comes to vacation rentals and this is one of the few I would 100% come back to! Beautifully restored historic house, furnished to look period appropriate. Most likely not haunted, didn’t get any weird vibes. All the things in the kitchen you actually need to cook or just function. Huge backyard. Lovely front porch with ceiling fans to keep you cool and keep away the bugs! Neighbors are lovely, what a delight!!

Beautiful house and garden
We chose to stay at Heath House for a trip celebrating our 60th Anniversary and what a wonderful choice it was. The house, with its beautiful decor, was conveniently located near restaurants and shopping. We enjoyed our activities around New Bern as well as relaxing at the house, looking at the beautiful garden and enjoying the front porch. Thank you to our wonderful host - we hope to come back soon!

A New Bern gem
The property was clean and comfortable. The updated period details to include the period colors for the residence was phenomenal . The house is situated in a neighborhood where all the surrounding homes are well maintained and manicured. It was a very pleasant stay and a small drive to the waterfront and historic district.
