Getting Here
**4-wheel drive or AWD required*. The lodge offers plenty of parking for numerous vehicles. Access to the lodge is just a short drive from US-19 on gravel roads. We suggest you take the ride up slow as there is always wildlife nearby. All types of vehicles navigate the mountain terrain. Guests have arrived by truck, SUV, and sedan without any issue. Motorcycles, low-sitting vehicles like Corvettes and Slingshots, are not ideal for the mountain roads, we suggest that you do not bring these vehicles if you reserve the lodge. We suggest that guests purchase travel insurance with weather-related coverage. This will protect you, should you not be able to access the lodge due to weather. We do not offer refunds due to weather and road-related issues. The amazing views that our lodge offers are possible because you have to travel UP a mountain. The first 1/4 mile is bumpy and steep but levels out as you travel. The road is wide compared to many mountain roads. There are many families that live year-round on this mountain and drive the roads daily. We also suggest that you arrive during daylight hours. We have posted a video on our Facebook page that gives you an idea of the drive-up. (https://fb.watch/eNj-Z27AdJ/) Elks Crossing at Whiskey Ridge is definitely worth the drive to the top!

Between Gods weather for the week and a beautiful home to stay in, it was as close to perfect as one could possibly hope for. We spent time with our grown children, eating like royalty and site seeing. Yes worth your time!!!

The house was as pictured, very nice, clean and well equipped as compared to some other rentals in the area. We have stayed in Maggie Valley area several times a year for many years. Our family vacay this time consisted of 8 people:3 generations- grandparents in their 70's to grade schoolers and 2 dogs. The road up was the first adventure- a front wheel drive mini van loaded made it up the mountain in lower gears without trouble, even in rain and sleet. All wheel drive a lot easier. We saw no wildlife from house but made up for it in Maggie Valley and Cherokee. We hiked, UTV'ed, horse backed, viewed elk and turkeys and enjoyed the rain and sleet from the covered deck. The sunrise on the one or two sunny days was amazing. The only things we would add to the house is handrail in one bath and a HOTTUB on one of the decks. We were wishing for a glass of wine and to sit in a hot tub and enjoy the view. The only negative was the girls didn't want to come home!! We are already trying to get schedules worked out for another trip. Thank you for letting us use your warm welcoming spacious home to make family memories.

We had an amazing family vacation! We have stayed in several homes in various locations and must say this is the most well stocked home we’ve stayed in! The beds were very comfortable, the home was extremely clean, and the decorations were on point! The extra touches of providing hand soaps, toiletries, spices, kitchen needs, extra blankets, dog treats, etc. were an added bonus that makes this house stand out above the rest. We also really enjoyed the pool table and the amazing sunrises.
Our first time up the mountain was a little scary as it was during a torrential downpour. After coming and going a few days you get use to it… just make sure you have 4 wheel drive on and ensure you have what you need when you leave/return. We wanted the full mountain experience and this house doesn’t disappoint. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Magnificent sunrise every morning, road might be challenging to some, did not bother us.
Very well equipped and clean.

The house was so well equipped and set up. No corners cut and everything you could ever need for a vacation home. Updated appliances, clean, spacious, well maintained, you could see maintenance was ongoing and the owner of the property did not cut any corners. Roads well maintained, outdoor grill, fire pit, spacious outdoor balcony seating, expensive qualitly pool table and que sticks. Linens were so fresh and clean, home had dehumidifier which was awesome drying things indoor. The view was spectacular and home was so pet friendly, when we checked in you would have never known pets were allowed it was so clean. There were some wonderful touches, such as treats for dogs with doggy bags and spare leashes, toels for cleaning wet pooches after walks, and bowls incase you forgot your own, some starter supplies were there for laundry and kitchen, couldnt be better. House directory had great information available and Maggy Valley was perfectly situated for all the surrounding attractions and destinations. Our 4th trip to Blue Ridge and by far best home to stay.

This place is fully stocked with anything you could think of! Master bed is the most comfortable I've ever been on! It was wonderful to feel so well taken care of. It did rain most of our trip so the views were not exactly what we were wanting, but luckily we ended up with one night and one morning of absolutely gorgeous views. The drive up- okay- this is where it gets tricky. The hosts do their absolute best to prepare you for this drive- but if you don't have any mountain experience, I'm not sure you can be fully prepared. That being said, they suggested we arrive during the day, which we did- and I'm so thankful we did. After the first Drive up, it was much easier and not a big deal- but the first time was definitely something to remember. Overall, it was a great stay. The hosts have great communication. There
Was a tree down on the power line when we
Got there (no power disruption) and they had someone there to fix it within a couple of hours. I highly recommend this place.

Our family loved our time at the lodge. It snowed about a foot while we were there. Make sure you carry snow chains in the winter. The lodge has everything you need for a wonderful time in the mountains ❤️

This lodge was beautiful. The hosts anticipated our every need. The road up was a little daring but we managed going slowly. If you have 4 wheel or all wheel no problem. The views were spectacular. Very clean and tons of games and enjoyed the fire pit. Very centrally located.

House and views are really quite nice. Road up is very very bumpy in parts with deviations of about a 8” to a foot deep in 4 or 5 spots but drivable. I have a Ford Explorer. There is a sign at the bottom as you turn on to the dirt and gravel incline that reads “four week vehicles highly recommended”. However I never used 4 wheel drive up the gravel and hard packed dirt incline but was glad I had clearance due to the holes. Looks like they are going to do some repairs on the holes since there are piles of gravel on side of this road up but they look like they’ve been sitting there awhile since some have weeds . Overall the incline is steep in spots but it’s the sudden dips to be careful of , which are drivable if you go slow over them . Once at the house, it’s worth the trip up and the host is very responsive to questions via text. Soco gap, water rock knob, and blue ridge are close by for lots of hiking choices ( mountain to sea trails marked “MTS” are great! ) and we like to bicycle the blue ridge too. The trail across the street at soco gap parking spot just off hwy 19 on blue ridge is excellent!, ( not the very short trail at that soco parking spot. Rather walk to right , cross blue ridge parkway at road gate and You'll see the trail on the other side. It is an easy to moderate trail with wooden bridges and streams and a lot of level walking too )
we just left Oct 7 2022 after stating 6 days and am passing this on

We had such a great time at Elks Crossing. The property was so welcoming. The check in process was easy. Our host went above what we were used to. The extra touches were amazing- a ceiling fan in every room BUT also the one for the bedside. The road to the property was not as hard to navigate from what I had read on the reviews. The view was breathtaking and so relaxing to sit in the porch and just drink coffee. I would recommend this property to anyone. It was fantastic!

Elks Crossing is everything listed and more. This beautiful lodge boasts breathtaking mountain views and the sunrises were amazing to watch. The lodge is beautifully decorated and very clean. The kitchen has everything available you need and more. Just bring the food. We cooked breakfast and dinner every day and there wasn’t anything in the kitchen we needed that we didn’t find for our use. There were so many little extras available that we were in disbelief that a rental property would offer so much for your every day needs. We enjoyed the game room with the pool table, many kids games available to use, movies, outdoor ring toss, even a hammock to enjoy. All the furniture was comfortable including the outdoor furniture. Sitting on the deck enjoying the view, fresh air, listening to nature was so relaxing. We even saw a huge male elk which was awesome. Privacy is terrific. This lodge was by far heads and shoulders above any rental we have used over the years. We vacation in a cabin setting at least one a year. There’s plenty to do and see within a reasonable driving distance. We have already decided to use this lodge in the future. For our family, it was absolutely wonderful.

Elks Crossing at Whiskey Ridge had beautiful views. During our stay we experienced a rainbow three different days. We also had the experience of seeing a set of 3 elk visiting the property. I was very concerned about the transition process of the house, Julia said it would be seamless and true to her word it was. The house had amazing amenities, everything you needed was there. Enjoyed our time at Elks Crossing.

Fabulous cabin
We loved how roomy the cabin was for our group of 11. Lots of games to play if you just want to hang out at “home” but close enough to towns to enjoy all they have to offer and stay close. Only about 1 1/2 hours to Gatlinburg, TN and you have a very scenic route to get there. The road up is long but even after rain it was accessible. Absolutely loved the fire pit grill, will be purchasing one for our home!! Would definitely consider staying there again if we have a large group going again.

AWESOME!!
Wonderful house with amazing views and excellent owners. Great communication with the owners. This house has everything you would ever need! It's very well outfitted in the kitchen, has games, pool table, excellent internet service. Everything you need and more, no issues at all during our stay. Central to many activities, restaurants, breweries, dollywood, hiking, etc.. The access to the ATV trails from the house was also great and fun to ride/hike those trails. We had a great time and will be back to this house in the future!

Need a 4 wheel drive and a steady heart
The house itself is gorgeous. The road to get to the house on the other hand was heart stopping, and not in a good way. It is a one way gravel road up the side of the mountain, that other people live on. That means some one will have to back down or up into someone's gravel driveway that is also a hairpin turn. The only space there is for two cars is about a mile from the top/bottom and it is only the size of maybe two cars. We took two trucks and my father, who is in his 70s drove one, while my husband drove the other. Not a fun 25 minute drive.
We stayed one night and decided that since we had planned on going places and not staying in the house the whole time it would be better if we just left. My son, who is autistic, couldn't handle the drive up and down each day for the week.
I might add that if you are used to mountain roads this is an amazing house and you should check it out, it is just not for the faint of heart or city slickers.

Could not be happier with our stay at Elk's Crossing at Whiskey Ridge
I am a person that never takes the time to do reviews but for this vacation rental I must. Our family of 5 just returned from our stay last night. This lodge has everything you could ask for and more. The owners are so very helpful and accommodating. The lodge is in a perfect location to have your own privacy. We brought our side by side to ride the many trails around the lodge. The lodge itself is absolutely gorgeous and well maintained. You can tell the owners really care about wanting to make your stay special. The cleanliness, the decor, and the amenities are so much more than we anticipated. Thank you Josh and Julia for a family vacation we will cherish forever.

Perfect for our little wedding
This house is absolutely beautiful and the view is even more spectacular! Wakeing up every morning to a beautiful sunrise made our days even better! It was also perfect for our big day! We got married at Soco Falls, which is only about 15 mins away. Everyone got ready at the house and took beautiful pictures off the balcony on the top floor. The kids loved all the games and space and begged to rent it again! Being from Florida though the road gave me a small nervous breakdown on the way up the first time. ( We did fine the rest of the week in our Chevy traverse) My sister and her family couldn't drive their mini van up at all so we had to park their car in town. But we all made it work and enjoyed our week. I do recommend a 4x4 if it's wet for sure.

Beautiful location
My family spent our 2021 Christmas at the lodge. We had a fantastic time & will look to book again in the future! We had a party of 7 adults that found the accommodations very spacious & comfortable.
We had everything we needed for our stay. Pick up your provisions before heading up the mountain & you will be set. We enjoyed the lodge, but also took some excursions a couple of different days.
One day to Asheville, NC. The other day we went to Gatlinburg, TN for a visit. Easily could’ve stayed at the lodge with no problem.
Can’t thank Mike & Laurie enough for the great time we had at their lodge. Also many thanks to Laurie in being so attentive to my emails, appreciate it very much Laurie.
The descriptions of the property in the listing do not do it justice, a very beautiful setting. Will not disappoint!
Regards,
The Campbells

Amazing View and great family atmosphere
Overall we had an amazing time. We did have a hard time getting to the property in one vehicle because we where separated and one took Route 1 which was the BEST route. Route 2 I do not advise anyone to travel as we kept sliding down even in a GMC Acadia. Other than the route there which the owners suggested route 1 but we misread the instructions. The Lodge is very nice and spacious and has plenty of room for a nice large party to attend. We took a baby gate and placed at the top stairs for our two and one year old to stay upstairs with us. The kitchen is spacious and has enough room for the whole party to enjoy dinner. The downstairs has board games, pool, and lots of other games for kids and teens to enjoy and a wet bar as well. The bunk room is nice and spacious as well. Definitely would recommend this cabin to stay at to anyone and the views are breathtaking.

Perfect in every way!
I cannot say enough Good things about this cabin. It was absolutely perfect in every way. Mike and Laurie were wonderful to work with and very responsive to all of the questions that we had while we were there and leading up to our stay. The cabin was extremely clean and the beds were very comfortable in the home had everything we would need. The welcome package was an added touch and made our stay even that much more perfect. It is a roomie cabin and gave us enough room to spread out amongst our families who were there. Would stay again any time without any hesitation.

Peaceful & Quiet
Our stay at Elk Crossing was absolutely perfect. The location was beautiful and the lodge was spacious and very comfortable. We enjoyed the beautiful morning and evening views from the upper deck. We also enjoyed stargazing from the hammock on the lower deck at night. The game room with pool table was perfect for members of our group who wanted to stay up later at night without disturbing those who went to bed early. The lodge was a perfect home base for exploring Maghie Valley, the nearby waterfalls, scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, Cataloochee, and Cherokee. We also spent time hiking the trails surrounding the property with our dog. Mike and Laurie are excellent hosts and were always quick to reply to any questions we had.

This is an amazing cabin. The view is beautiful and although we didn't see elk on the property, we did see an elk family of 7 on the road leaving the cabin. They were so beautiful 😍. Thank you Mike and Laurie for renting your wonderful property. We will be back again. Barb & Chris

Beautiful mountain views
We absolutely loved our time here!! The home was beautiful and loved spending time on the deck. The hummingbirds were constant companions. We saw chipmunks, groundhogs and an ELK!! The kitchen has everything you need. The beds are comfortable allowing for great sleep. While the road is an adventure as other reviewers noted, we had a 4WD and had no problems. The views from the deck were definitely worth the adventure. Owners were very responsive to all our questions when planning our trip. We certainly plan on returning.

Beautiful views and very quiet
This was a beautiful property. We saw 5 elk on the property 2 different days. The road to get up was not fun though as it had rained before and caused large ruts and holes. Luckily a few days in, a neighbor evened out the road, made it much easier to navigate. We drove up in a minivan. Plenty of space to spread out for all 5 of us.

It was good, BUT...
The property itself was nice, however the AC went out. The owner was able to get a tech to look at it at it the middle of our week stay but nothing was ever communicated about the repair. Of our 6 night stay, we only had AC 1 of those nights and no apology was offered or any information regarding repairs. We were fine without AC at night because of the cool nights, but the house was almost 80 degrees inside on those hot August days. Other than lack of communication form the owner, the house was in a beautiful setting and fit our needs well.

Hummingbird Heaven
We had an amazing time at the well appointed and very comfy Elks lodge. The layout was terrific, views stunning, kitchen and home had everything we needed and more. Elk were a plenty as well as chipmunks, ground hogs, and oh my my so many hummingbirds. Its a long road up the mountain, super bumpy at the start, I personally wouldn’t recommend driving up in a low vehicle and be careful at night. Certainly worth every bump, twist and turn! Maggie Valley and surrounding areas are amazing and you can do everything within an hour’s drive.

Beautiful Views & Spacious Home
We had 14 family members stay at Elks Crossing last week. It was AMAZING! Kots of room for everyone, boardgames, movies and beautiful views. Honestly we spent most of our time on the balcony enjoying the weather and the view. The road up the Mountain to the house was scary at first but after a couple trips us Northerners got used to it. It's dirt & gravel & bumpy in some parts. If you have a truck or SUV you'll be fine. We loved our stay here. We even had a visit from an Elk, a cute little squirrel who liked to visit the balcony and so many hummingbirds!!!

Excellent accommodations
We had the most wonderful time! The view is better than pictures can capture. While remote off the beaten path, super close to town also. We enjoyed seeing lots of wildlife, ELK, hummingbirds, so many song birds, woodchucks, and chipmunks to name a few. Enjoyed close waterfalls and hikes in the area. We are already planning our next trip. Mike and Laurie are easy to communicate with and answer any questions needed. On the way out of town ran Into a herd of more elk. Topping on the cake of a great family vacation.
