This cottage is so adorable and just a short walk to the beach and a local convenience store. This makes it easy to park the car and just walk to get coffee and such. We stayed in October so not much open this time of year, but we were in the area for a family wedding so not much time to hang out anyway. This was the first time I've rented on Vrbo, so I wasn't sure what to expect as have read a lot about obnoxious owners with tons of rules, but Brett is super-chill with only a couple of things asked that are doable and appropriate.
It for sure is a seasonal issue, but I have to say that the oak tree that hangs over the house dropping acorns on the roof at night got to be a lot the first night we were there as the noise woke us up a few times. The acorn adventure ended up becoming a joke at the wedding. Fortunately, the tree seemed to settle somewhat so not as bad on the second and third nights.
This is really quiet neighborhood, which I'm sure is lively in the summer, and offers a great retreat in any season. I'm so glad I took the risk and rented this cottage. I highly recommend.

The cottage was absolutely adorable. Very clean and new, inside and out. It had every amenity, just like home. You can see the beach/ocean at the end of the street. And any questions we had, the host replied right away. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! 5 stars!

We had a fun few days in this little cottage. Appreciated having two bathrooms and the mini mart next door was perfect (not noisy or bothersome at all). Fun walk to the beach. We only wished the beds had box springs for support. Overall a great time.

It was just what my husband and I needed, we had a great time! The cottage was clean and had everything we needed for our stay! The location was perfect, a nice easy walk to the beach and also close to Mystic, Niantic and Old Saybrook for restaurants, shopping and sightseeing.

We stayed for the 4th of July holiday. We had an amazing week. The house was exactly what we expected. So close to the beach, lots for the kids to do, wonderful memories made!! Brett was great as a host and we can’t wait to come back next year!!

The tiny cottage was perfect. The second half bath was very handy. We had more than enough room and my daughter loved sleeping on the futon in the enclosed "porch". I cooked and had everything I needed pots, pans, and blender. We brought extra TP and paper towels, but did not need them. Do bring napkins, tissues, extra bottled water, and your vaca state of mind. The beach is a nice walk down the block, the neighborhood was quiet and dog friendly. The beach chairs were wonderful and though the beach is small, there was always plenty of room for all. Highly recommend this property. The only problem, was we did not want to leave.

My daughter and I live in CT but needed a place to stay for a few days, while we had some work done at our house. We decided to pick a place close to Mystic so we can plan a day trip. We found this cute cottage house in Old Lyme which is walking distance to the beach. The place was very clean and comfortable. Besides Mystic Aquarium and the shops, we visited the outlets for more shopping in Clinton CT. If you enjoy hiking there are plenty of trails and Ferry Landing state park if you enjoy fishing. We would of gone to Mohegan Sun for the day but we had our small Min Pin with us. The owner Brett is very friendly and responds to text messages very quickly. I am definitely interested in going back again !

This cottage was perfect for us. Much more spacious than the pictures show. The beds were comfortable and the ac was great for the super muggy evenings. Coffee pot was a BONUS. The huge deck… block it off and it was the perfect playpen for my baby granddaughter visiting for the day. It’s near a busy street but we didn’t hear anything at all. So unexpected - in the BEST way!

This cottage was perfect for a family vacation or girls outing! We didn’t need the car to get food (convenience store), beach, and restaurants. There is an arcade and carousel nearby too!
The house was well appointed and very clean! Just bring your own towels and linens and your set! Brett was very easy to communicate with. We would definitely come back!

We were looking for a spot to hold up for a few days to recharge and escape and this place fit the bill. Walkable to the beach and some casual local eateries that were better than expected. Easy drive to state parks and Mystic.

The house was just what I needed for me, my daughter and our dogs. The beach was 5 minutes down the street. The area was nice to walk our dogs. . I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. Thank you Brett! I hope to return next year.

We booked this cottage for a last-minute family beach getaway, and overall it worked out great. It was big enough for our family (our 2 kids shared a bed) and pretty close to the beach, although we were surprised it was adjacent to a convenience store and catty-corner to a gas station. Our kids loved biking to the beach and around the neighborhood, and especially loved the carousel just down the street, which is such a treat.
Brett was extremely responsive, and is a caring host. I know he's still working out some kinks with the rental (eg: the recent remodeling wasn't 100% complete) and I'm confident this place will continue to improve over time!

Awesome week away with family!
We booked a last minute vacation for a week away and we were looking for something within driving distance, allowed dogs, and close to the beach. This house was the perfect little cottage. Walk next door to the convenience store, everything in this little beach town was right on our street including the entrance to the beach. The kids loved the arcade, ice cream shop, crepe breakfast spot, little stores, carousel, and they have restaurants (all right on our street). Very family friendly and felt safe. Close driving to fun activities including a children's museum, tons of restaurants, mystic aquarium and dinosaur place.
The owner Brett was very responsive and quick to get back to any and all questions we had during our stay. All appliances and furniture were new and in great condition. Very clean and updated cottage. Would definitely come back and stay here again.

Come with all necessities, including linens/towels
We came to CT from TX for a family emergency. After a full days travel and coming to the property at 10 pm and finding no sheets or towels, was beyond disappointing. The manager responded quickly and told us where the nearest Walmart was and gave us $50, but I’d rather him use the money and provide those basic goods. He said the lack of linens was under amenities, but couldn’t find it anywhere in the listing. The next morning, however, it was listed (with asterisks) in the property details. We stay at VRBO properties frequently, and have never experienced this. When we are flying into places (or driving) and staying somewhere, we shouldn’t be expected to carry our bedsheets and towels with us. Very disappointing. Also, there were bugs (silver fish) that kept falling from somewhere onto the couch, beds and on the floor. I hope they will spray before the next tenants arrive. Also, there was no instructions or info anywhere. I had to reach out to the manager to find out checkout instructions. This place would make a great rental someday, but it needs a lot of thought and care first. I definitely do not recommend this place as it is now.
