Fabulous overwater bungalow with magical snorkeling right off our own deck. Lovely staff, fun tours.

Beautiful location in Moorea with wonderful on site snorkeling. We stayed in a beach front hut. It had a large porch facing the ocean, a large room and decent size bathroom. A stocked mini bar with two beers, waters and juice that is restocked daily. The bed was very comfortable and the AC was well maintained. The restaurant on site was delicious. We are there twice daily for 3 days and all the meals were wonderful.

Sofitel is our new go to vacation spot. Absolutely incredible, and highly recommend the oceanview properties!

Hotel staff, especially at the front desk, were not very accommodating or helpful. Restaurant staff was fantastic.
The hotel needs a meaningful investment refurbishment - the pool has pieces that are falling apart.

The resort, the staff, the food, and the entire stay was absolutely amazing!

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Sofitel from 5/10-5/14. The property was clean, the staff was friendly, and the beach/snorkeling were incredible. We would stay at the Sofitel again, simply because of the beach/snorkeling.
For first time visitors, I would call out the following to help set expectations
1) Dining: The food options are limited.
For Breakfast, the buffet is fantastic and filled with all sorts of options. There is something for everyone.
For Lunch/Snacks: You are limited to the Beach Shack menu, Pure, and the Hotel Bar. Drinks are not an issue, there is an abundance of alcohol and fruit drinks.
For Dinner, the Sofitel has some partnerships with some restaurants and offers a car service so you can eat outside of the hotel grounds. You can order food from outside to be delivered or you might want to rent a car to explore other parts of the island.
2) Hotel Room Cleaning: We had to call and specifically request to get our room cleaned each day. Even though we put out the sign requesting cleaning, it wasn't until we actually called the front desk that someone came. The only reason this left a bad taste is because we were at the beach and even though we tried so hard not to track sand inside the bungalow, it inevitably happened.
3) Make sure you have mosquito repellant. Many of the rooms require you to walk through the gardens or the beach, and we did get bitten at night on our way to dinner/show.

This hotel is very expensive given that it is in real need of significant renovation. There is evidence of lots of wear and tear in the rooms, and walkways. The staff are very friendly, but some waiters seemed untrained. Bar food, beach food and drinks were very highly priced. Beach food was horrid. The beach is only part sandy with lots of broken and sharp coral, so you need beach shoes. The pool looked very tired and dirty and seemed little used. Overall the hotel had a very run down feel. We also stayed at the Hilton on the main island, and Bora Bora by Pearl resorts, both of which put this hotel into very sharp contrast.

Excellent property, just beautiful views. Over Water Bungalow well worth the money as is half board.

The online photos give you an accurate picture of this property. A unique, immaculately clean and well-maintained property. Self contained with wonderful snorkeling, kayaking and other water activities. We didn’t stay in one of the over-the-water huts; instead we had a hut on shore with identical facilities only feet away from the water’s edge. The staff were most eager to please, very friendly and helpful. Moorea is absolutely beautiful and we had a wonderful stay.

Wonderful stay. The staff was so kind and accommodating and the snorkeling was world class. Expensive but worth it.

We booked an overwater bungalow and oh boy we weren’t disappointed. Jumping into the water from the room, we ended up in one of the best (if not the best) snorkeling locations we’ve ever been to. Moray eels, spotted rays, wrasses of all sizes and colors, parrot fish, etc. Incredible.
On top of the tasteful and detailed service we received, we took advantage of the half board option for a delicious no compromise 3-course dinner and incredible buffet breakfast.
We also leveraged our (free) Accor club membership to get two drinks passes, which covered soft drinks during the day, and alcoholic beverages 4:30-6:30pm. We enjoyed those in the bar overlooking the lagoon at sunset.
Cannot recommend this place more for a luxurious romantic getaway.

The Resort wants you to spend every nickel you have at the resort. I have stayed at the resort 5 times. The resort used to loan bikes to guests. Not any more. The Resort's staff has been directed to make raising revenue from guests a much higher priority than guest satisfaction.

We had a wonderful stay and were very well welcomed! The hotel decoration and grounds are beautiful. The beach is one of the best in Polynesia and the nautical center was great. Staff were very very kind all around. Restaurant is great and food was diverse and of good quality. Breakfast buffet also was very diverse and with a beautiful view. Thanks for a great time! A few improvement points could be that the decks of the bungalows are in desperate need of a refresh (wood is very much worn out). The swimming pool floor has quite a few missing tiles. Towels are the swimming pool could be replenished during the day. Also a shuttle to/from the ferry or the airport would also be nice to have.

Great place, great staff. Only drawback is that one needs to take expensive taxi to do anything outside resort.

We had such a beautiful stay here! The grounds are gorgeous and the over water bungalow was incredible. The food was overpriced and not always the best but ultimately the experience was what we’d hoped for on our honeymoon. We appreciated having access to the snorkeling gear without an extra charge.

We lucked out at check in because we arrived a few minutes before a group. Some guests waited for an hour. Desk was short staffed and took over 20 minutes at checkout with only 4 ahead of us. Property for price and reputation somewhat dated. But our ocean view cottage was spacious, nicely decorated and perfectly clean. Room had refrigerator stocked with free soft drinks and beer. A nice water bottle was complimentary. Shower and towels were luxurious. Complimentary Nespresso. Breakfast was a buffet line of ok but not great quality. The Polynesian show was great with ok buffet dinner. Service at buffet was fine. The dive shop personnel were great and the dive trip was enjoyable. Free kayaks were available and enjoyable. Infinity pool deck was nice. We had a car which expanded dinner capability which I would recommend.

The water bungalow is amazing, bathroom and bedroom & living area with day bed and deskroom are all spacious. Large AC and ceiling fan, mini fridge, iron and board, and great in room coffee machine and tea selection. The buffet breakfast is incredible, such a large variety of everything imaginable in addition to personal omelettes. It is worth paying for if not included in your package because you can fill up until 10am and then you don’t need lunch😉
The only area in my opinion that needs to improve is the lack of service at the nautical center!! The young people working there do NOT help with putting any of the heavy kayaks or SUPs into the water for you. Nor do they help drag the heavy equipment up onto the beach when you’re done. I’m shocked that management isn’t aware of this. Everyone at the hotel works very hard for their guests, EXCEPT the nautical people who have very little to do all day long- shame on you!!!! Hire new people who care, have initiative and are helpful!!!

Exemplary hospitality, amenities, and service. The clarity of the water for snorkeling is incredible. Great bedding and pillows. Highly recommend.

We wanted to experience a “bucket list “ overwater bungalow, where the Sofitel was a great choice. We were in unit 110, which had the sunrise each morning over Tahiti in the distance — absolutely stunning!
The daily breakfast was excellent, with the omelette chef being a unique personality. We snorkeled off our bungalow each day where the multitude of fish species were a delight. Maihere at the concierge desk took special care to the details, getting our A/C adjusted and Tahitian Dinner Show tickets.
A relaxing four days in Moorea, with fond memories to take away.

Great location as it’s in a reef and the snorkeling is fabulous .
Nice staff ( mostly)
The food was pretty terrible and we went off site most nights - very overpriced and not very good.
The massages were just average and the rooms were very dark and need an upgrade .
If you don’t care about food the location was amazing

We loved our stay there. The staff was wonderful, food was excellent, resort was clean and well maintained. Can't think of any improvements. We'll be back!

The photos of this hotel are nowhere near reality and should be a 3 star hotel max. Very run down furniture and overall looks like nothing has been maintained since it was built in 1987. We were just in Bora Bora before which is just a very different league and may have blurred our opinion but this hotel is highly overpriced for what it is without doubt. The food is also very average but priced higher than any London private members club. The pizza at the beach bar was the best… On the positive the whole staff with Hinatea and her team are extremely friendly and making a real effort.

We had a fabulous 4 night stay. The staff made us welcome from the moment we set foot on the property. The setting is fabulous and the beach was great. Great place for snorkeling. We did the water scooter expedition (snorkeling)…. Which was fantastic! Staff responded to all our requests promptly. We will definitely stay there again if we revisit Moorea.

Everything was amazing, we got a beach front bungalow that was fantastic, the only recommendation I’ll have is that it was far from the lobby , room 419, and walking up there was long and far specially if you have personal luggage as backpacks etc , you should consider having bicycles to move around the property, or have the gold karts take you when the room is far as ours . Thank you for considering, congratulations on a great hotel.

Situated just a short ferry ride from island of Tahiti, this property is a real gem! The views from this resort are stunning, the bungalows are amazing, and the water is crystal clear. The Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea Beach Resort is perfect romantic getaway destination.

We stayed two nights in a luxury overwater Bungalow as a treat at the end of our stay on Moorea. Everyone should do this at least once in their life, and Sofitel does it very well. The room is large and roomy and clean with a small glass viewing panel in the floor near the balcony and beautiful ocean views. A welcome bottle of champagne was waiting for us in the room and the beer, water, soft-drink in the mini-bar are included and replaced daily. The TV is large but has almost all French/Tahitian channels with only CNN in English and no option to show sub-titles, so we didn’t really use it. The bathroom is also large with a rain-head shower and a hand-held shower that was set too low to shower under. They supply shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and soap as well as other amenities like toothbrush, shaving and vanity kit.
We were able to relax at the bar and make use of the facilities while we were waiting for our 2pm check-in.
The gardens and grounds are beautiful and the water fountain lights up in different colours at night.
Breakfast in the restaurant was good with an excellent selection of food and drinks.
The bar has tapas/snack options for food which were good. We did eat at the restaurant on our second night but found the food a bit ordinary and portions very small.
The staff at the resort were very friendly and helpful, nothing was ever too much trouble.
We would highly recommend Sofitel as a great place to stay at Moorea.

The overwater bungalow experience was amazing. Everyone was so nice there and treated us great! Breakfast was included. There was a huge buffet. Everything was good. The guy that was making the pancakes was super funny! He kept us entertained. The water was beautiful for snorkeling. It’s amazing how clear the water is there. Hinetea and her daughter were especially amazing to us. We were treated with a bottle of champagne as a welcome gift when we got there. Everything in the fridge was free of charge and they restocked it every day. We also had dinner at the restaurant. Everything tasted delicious. Would highly recommend this experience.
