Noisy. Thin walls in the rooms. Could hear the tv next door very loud. Quite oldfashioned
4.3
Everything was good except we had a view of the castle which was lovely except it was very noisy. Breakfast was very good. Great location especially if you need to travel by train or take the airport bus.
4.3
Spent 3 nights here. Great location with the tram 1.5 blocks away, airport coach 1 block and rail station also 1 block away. Quick walk to old town.
The one negative about the rooms were the poorly positioned toilets. The toilets are right against a wall causing an adult some discomfort when sitting.
4.3
Noisy and hot room. Promised points for not having room serviced and then did not apply them despite raising them. Will not stay there again

Loved the hotel. Smelled amazing lol. Handy for trains, shops and all things Edinburgh. The only issue I had was I couldn’t access the WiFi. No internet whatsoever and I really needed to be able to be contacted. Highly recommend the Mercure though. Definitely will be back.
4.3
The hotel location is amazing and the staff were extremely friendly. However, there were a few things that could have been better. The hotel main entrance area was under construction so the whole area was covered in drywall and joint compound. The stairs were partially blocked off, which made coming in with luggage while people were going in and out of the hotel very difficult. The rooms have instant coffee, creamer, sugar and a kettle, but there was no bottled water in the rooms or a water area near the rooms. It was not available at reception either. If bottled water could be made available for guests that would be great.
4.3
Th room was very hot made worse by the fact that the towel rail is on constantly so it felt like we had the heating on all the time. We were told that they can’t switch it off because then they have to turn off the hot water too. At the price we paid for the room I really expected more.
4.3
Great location, mediocre service and amenities, and a terrible noise from a street all day and even at night.
4.3
Terrible staff and rooms without A/C , expensive, etc.
4.3
Short break went to see Edinburgh tattoo.
4.3
Great location and great views over the castle and princes street.
Service and staff welcoming.
Hotel is having an update. Down side is the rooms were too warm and only a fan to circulate are. May be worth getting air-con fitted to the rooms.
4.3
Walkable and great view
4.3
Right in heart of Edinburgh, it's a perfect jumping off point for your city adventure!
4.3
This hotel is very conveniently located close to shops and public transportation. The AC wasn't working as they were still undergoing refurbishment but the staff was helpful with a fan and extension cord; and luckily the weather was cooler. Lovely restaurant with a great view of Edinburgh Castle. Would recommend to anyone
4.3
Hotel located right in Princes Street with princes street gardens directly opposite hotel. The Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle within Short walking distance of Hotel and Waverley Station only a few minutes walk from Hotel

It was clean, the food was really good
Our room was very warm..

All good

Good stay at the Mercure. The hotel is in a fabulous location for people travelling by train, all the main attractions are within walking distance.
Room was pleasantly decorated and clean, however the view and sounds from the back of the hotel aren't great, so that's something to consider whilst choosing your room.
Staff were friendly!
Overall nice stay in a good location, but I wouldn't say it was worth the near £800 for 3 nights.
4.3
Overall a good hotel. The room doesn't have air conditioning units. If this is very important to you, you might need to look for another hotel. Great service, good room, good location!
4.3
Great location, service and staff. Shame that there is still some renovation work going on inside and the property next door is under heavy construction
4.3
Nice property but difficult to find as entrances blocked by construction
4.3
We liked the breakfast each morning and didn't mind the incentive to pay in advance. The bar service got better each night and was quite good the last night. We didn't like the construction noise on the palace side of the property that was pretty obnoxious around midnight or later. We managed, since there is already some street noise on that side. The view was worth it.
4.3
Incredible location -- will stay there again. Great breakfast, too.
4.3
Good location. The hotel front desk staff and the restaurant personnel are all polite and courteous. The fire alarm / fire scare was inconvenient but the staff handled it really well.
4.3
The hotel will be even better once the restaurat is renovated.
4.3
Ok property when looking for somewhere to stay for an event but really poor breakfast options for vegetarians. No veggie sausages, veggie bacon, just the usual (tomato’s, eggs, potato scones, mushrooms)
4.3
The breakfast was’nt good but the rest was ok
4.3
We enjoyed the park view and the view of the castle. The room was nice and the book reading on tape that you can hear from the entrance was nice. The staff was helpful in getting me the information I needed to tour the city. I would stay again
4.3
Mercure has a great location in Edinburgh, short walk from Waverley Train Station and close to restaurants, historical sites, etc. Staff was efficient and friendly; room was comfortable, very clean, quiet. Breakfast (not included) was really good. I'd stay here again.
4.3
Employees make you feel welcome, everything you asking they know. Very polite country place is clean,,safe, close to everything. No complaints 👌 😌
4.3
This hotel is in an extremely convenient location. It is less than 5 minutes from the railway station, there are many buses that go by Princes street. It is close to Royal Mile, George Street (all within 15 minute walks). It is also within a 15 minute walk to Edinburgh Castle. The room was very clean and comfortable to stay in.
Two complaints: Our “garden view” room looks out into a concrete courtyard/brick walls with a dead pigeon on the ground (probably has been there for a few days.) The point was it is a neglected area and not very pleasant to look at. The Internet worked for about 2 hours the first night, then it stopped working. We told the front desk a couple times, was told to switch to another network (from Mercure to Conference), and we had to get to the main hall way to get any signal. No signal in our room, probably because of where it was located - out of reach from the WiFi signal. For $340 a night, and we stayed for three nights, we expected a better room view and at least, working WiFi signal.
4.3
Tired hotel, rooms are in need of refurbishing. The view over Princes St park is beautiful. The noise from the tram is awful, definitely take your earbuds!!! Didn’t try the restaurant so can’t comment. Wouldn’t stay again due to the noise from outside unless they replaced their windows!!
4.3
Overnight stay on way back from Highlands Tour
4.3
Receptionists, waiters/waitress and viewing from the restaurant were nice, but I need to say few points;
- Simply it smelled bad inside the room. There were too sweaty smelling and made me kind of headache.
- Poor shower pressure. If you like normal pressure (I don’t say “strong” one), you should avoid there.
- Lack of body soap. It was not refilled…lack of care.
- No socket near your bed. You need to charge you devices a bit far from your bed.
- Coffee machines for breakfast offered one of the bad taste coffee unfortunately.
4.3
Great location, exceptional staff.
4.3
Staff was great. Best location ever. WiFi was non existent. Tried two different ones all failed. Could not even attend a meeting or send emails. Really disappointing for brand name hotel.
4.3
The only advantage of this property was location and friendly staff members. The hotel is OVER PRICED, very old furniture and building structure. The bed was very uncomfortable. The view from Princess Street balcony was great, but the noise from the continues trains passing was horrible, I couldn't sleep. Breakfast buffet was horrible too. I do not recommend this property specially for the price they charge.
4.3
Wonderfull hotel in the hart of Edinburgh.
4.3
A great hotel in the heart of Edinburgh.
Walking distance to all of the attractions.
Nice breakfast and amazing service!
4.3
We stayed in room 451 for 1 night. The toilet flush was working so it was extremely inconvenient and we had to use the toilet on the first floor!!!
Highly inconvenient!
