The building is lovely, bar is nice and food ok but not much choice. Room decor very tired, chunks of plaster falling off. Bathroom dates and damp smell, not sure how often it’s cleaned as small piece of soap in shower been there for ages.

The hotel is very dated. Could do with a makeover.

If i start with the positive, I received a friendly welcome. I was shown to where the rooms are, and thefirst thing that hit me was the smell. Not a pleasant welcome at all. I was directed to my room and after navigating the narrow, creaky stairs and a creaky landing i arrived at my room. It was not only freezing because i think the window had been left open to manage the smell, but it was also underwhelming, especially given the price of the room. The creaky floor theme continued, unable to move anywhere in the room without making a racket. The bathroom was tiny, filthy, and the shower had obviously not been cleaned. Having squeezed past the end of the bed to close the window and reach the one plug socket near the bed, I found a collection of dead flies between the window and the fly screen (of sorts). Though I'm not from the area, I didn't think there were that many flies around at this time of year. The room comes equipped with a decent ironing board with a good, padded cover (a rarity in most hotels I've stayed at over the years) and a tiny travel iron which offers heat but no steam. The bed, feeling damp from the cold, was quite comfortable but the pillows were flimsy and lumpy. With paper thin walls you can hear all tvs in other rooms, people moving about and conversations. So, after a very poor nights sleep I was woken by what sounded like a generator/vent at 430am and unable to get back to sleep. This is a very tired looking inn. Over priced, and very basic.

Beautiful location right on the river bank. We had 2 nights at this amazing hotel. Our room was large, clean and extremely comfortable. The was a great choice for breakfast. The location is stunning with a large beer garden. The staff are friendly and helpful. They arranged a 6 seater taxi for us into St Ives which is a beautiful town which happened to have a jazz an and blues festival and a food market. The menu offers a good choice of food in this historic pub. We will definitely be retuning. Thank you Ben and the team

Lovely setting. Rooms tired, horrible smell around stairs to bedroom. Very noisy fan noise for a while, may have been above kitchen? Bed comfortable, linen and towels professionally laundered. Just needed a bit of an update.

Lovely spot. Rooms are comfortable if functional. Food was OK with good sized portions but supply issues meant some items unavailable. Some parts of the pub look tired but main bar area cared for. Biggest problem is service. Pub seems to be run with a skeleton crew. This is particularly evident during in breakfast service with one person trying to deal with guests, walk-ins from moored boats and early arrivals for a car meet. Likely kitchen had similar staffing level. Accommodation is value for money but be prepared to wait for service.
