Stop over for long journey home from Cornwall, stayed in a family room - 1 adult & 2 kids but given 1single & 1double. Was ok but not ideal. Room was dusty & in need of good clean under beds & behind furniture, hanging cobwebs. The shower door was hanging off although could still use. Decor very drab which added to dated feel of the room. Whilst the beds were comfy the pillows were flat. Lots of tea & coffee supplied, great tv with choices for kids. Had an evening meal, food was great although had to move as from garden as the language from younger drinkers was a shocker and the kids felt v uncomfortable hearing it. Not really an issue with the owners but a local pub with a young crowd so something to be mindful of if travelling with kids. Overall we enjoyed our stay, owners were lovely as was the food, and ok value for money.

Friendly and helpful staff, and allowed us an early check in to the room early as we were going to a wedding. Room was rather small and only had a skylight, no "proper" window but we didn't spend much time in the room. Small shower room, but the shower itself was great. Good breakfast.

Room was a little small, but it was adequate for the first be night stay.
Generally clean but nothing too special.
Would go back.
Pub meal was excellent. We had the steak and can thoroughly recommend it!

Shower point blank did not even turn on in my room, pillows were basically empty pillow cases and the mattress so thin I could feel each individual slat of timber through the mattress, worst spent 65 pounds of my life.

Lovely quaint old coaching inn, rooms where clean and tidy, staff very obliging, could of had a more varied evening menu, but wasn’t a problem.

Very clean, tidy & well presented room. The bathroom maybe a little bit dated, but clean and everything worked well. Lots of hot water, which is always a great thing! The pub areas are well-used and busy, a typical busy pub atmosphere. The food is hearty, well prepared and tasty, and the beer well-kept. Excellent buffet breakfast with delicious bacon, sausages and choice of healthier options if you preferred. The staff, I couldn't praise enough for their friendly helpfulness. The Dolphin isn't the most modern, or the best equipped hotel, but it is clean, friendly and offers good food. I enjoyed my stay very much and will definitely stay again if I'm in the area.

Prompt and friendly when I arrived. The room was large and comfortable. Good selection of teas and coffee in the room. As usual, the shower was sufficient. Good Wifi signal. Plenty of parking space in the car park.Breakfast is buffet style; cereals and cooked, plus some fruit. My room overlooked the courtyard but it was very quiet.

Room had been left unattended, with window 4 inches open (it was only 3degrees outside) the radiator was off. They refused outright to provide a better room. All bedding was cold and I had to sleep with my coat on the bed for extra warmth. It took over 90 minutes to get comfy. The room is above a small courtyard, where there is a yellow floodlight. This sends a significant amount of light pollution, so whilst a blind was provided, I had to establish a makeshift blind to reduce the light coming in the room. The hotel shows many signs of inadequate investment. The room I was in, the bathroom door would not close completely, the windows were drafty, the floors are soft and creak. The hot tap was inadequately tightened. The fan dirty and partially blocked. Breakfast was unapatising, bland, greacy and out of the 1980 s.

I have photographs to prove how dirty the hotel was. Ceiling Brown with damp. Paintwork dirty. If I could have moved elsewhere I would not have stayed. I would hope you will reply to this message as I always book with you but would be hesitant to do so in the future

My wife and I booked here for 2 nights, we are both pensioners and have travelled extensively throughout the UK, this was the worst experience we have ever had and totally ruined our weekend break and I really don’t know where to start!
Let’s try, room 15, tiny, box room that should not even be used for single occupancy never mind a double, no wardrobe or dresser for storage, we lived out of suitcase, no coat hangers, no seats, no windows! There was a skylight which we had no control over; this was covered in bird droppings! Shower/toilet room smelled of urine, carpet was dirty, second night we were kept awake till 2am by loud music, we weren’t sure whether this was downstairs or an adjacent building but as I say we couldn’t close the skylight to dim the noise, but even if we had closed it we would have been too hot.
TV remote was filthy; we bought some antibacterial wipes ourselves to clean this, room door closed with Yale lock but we were unable to ‘lock it’ as this was broken.
Toilet macerator was noisy and constantly making ‘rumbling noises’ which we did not understand at first.
The only thing that appeared to be acceptable was the bed linen ‘appeared’ to be clean.
We wanted to book into another establishment but all were full due to social events planned over the weekend.
We did not complain because to be honest we were in a state of shock and though we’d just soldier on and look forward to getting home.

We were pleasantly surprised after reading some reviews. We stopped here on the way back from Cornwall to break up our journey. We had a meal in the evening that was very nice, the only thing was we were the only people in the resuarant. The breakfast the next morning was very good, but could have been warmer.
