Lovely hotel with friendly hosts, very accommodating with dogs. Dinner and breakfast excellent. Room comfortable but a lower floor would have been preferable with the dog.

Made very welcome by Paul and Mel, nice clean ensuite double room. My pet spaniel was made welcome too. Located in the middle of town, with good parking, Id recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Porlock.
Breakfast was tasty and filling, with a good choice of cooked options.

Really welcoming. Room a bit small but we knew that. Nice snug to sit in downstairs. Food was fantastic and they made a good packed lunch for walkers.

Great little hotel in Porlock, not far from the coast path. Room was very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was nice, staff were friendly. We also ate in the restaurant which did very good food.

I enjoyed my stay at Lorna Doone. The food and Drink is AMAZING! My real poultry pie was out of this world and the breakfast was to die for! The owners were every nice in providing me with an adapter, which i think i lost :(
My room was clean and comfortable, EXCEPT i couldn't get the heat to work. So I had a cold night :( Hence the 4 stars. I highly recommend this place.

Very disappointing, initial greeting was certainly not welcoming ,just a waving gesture as to where the reception area was when asked. We had drinks in the bar which were reasonably priced. We requested a menu as we had decided to stay for dinner, we were advised that they were fully booked. As we were sat very close to the dining area ( and being in the hospitality business) we could not see why an extra table could not have been set up or even an offer made to eat in the bar where we were already seated. However, if they don't need the revenue so be it. On retiring I found "pubic hair" and a dead insect on my pillow, when I went back down to reception to advise the lady owner /manager she enquired " what would you like me to do"!!!! I requested it to be changed, this was actioned immediately by the gentleman owner/ manager who in my opinion is far more suited to the hospitality industry than the lady who came across as condescending and as if she was "doing the paying guest a favour". The standard of cleaning need improvement, Bathroom window sill was very dusty, carpet on stairs leading to the bedrooms needed vaccuming, fire extinguishers needed dusting. The mattress in the room we stayed needs replacing as the springs had started to rise to the top and so was most uncomfortable and to which I had felt the effects of the next day.

We had a great stay, we are in the restaurant for our evening meal and the food was outstanding. The breakfast was delicious and the waiting staff were so helpful, our dog even had her own sausage at breakfast.
The room was clean and very comfortable, everything we needed for an overnight stay. The shower was a little tricky to use.
We would certainly come back again and would recommend. 10/10!

We were very disappointed with our stay. The room was tiny - I wouldn't call it a double room. It might be OK for one person but definitely not for two adults (and I should notice that we are not obese).
There was not a bedside table, only one chair. There was the smallest TV set I have ever seen - my laptop is bigger.
There were only 4 hangers in a wardrobe.
There were 2 nice things in that room though - a view out of the window and a painting on the wall.
The receptionist was not very friendly. She coukd not book us in the hotels restaurant and when we asked her for advice where we could eat in the evening, the answer was: Thera three places nearby.
We finally found a very nice place - The Ship Inn. The food was great, the service was great too, and the bill was very modest.
