The stay went well. The staff were attentive and available. The room corresponded to the photo, it was very spartan but optimised.
The hotel is extremely well located, which is great!
One small negative point: the cleaning lady came and took our towel and forgot to close the door when she left.

Very nice for the area. Thanks Ms Paulie

The room is cheap (~USD 25), so maybe it's not fair to ask too much, but the hotel is indeed not decent, not even comfortable in any sense. The room is so squeezy (no place to open a luggage) and not very clean (but acceptable). No slippers were provided.

Arrived 24 hours later than expected due to flight delays and hotel canceled reservations and denied refund or any changes. If I paid for 4 days and arrived on day 2 I assume I have 2 days left on reservations but it appears I have 0 day left.

It is the worst experience I have had in my life. There were three cockroaches in the bathroom. When I turned on the air conditioning hundreds came out from everywhere. Also the water for bathing was cold. It is too noisy and dirty. There is also no space for anything, it is too small. I had to leave the hotel immediately. I would definitely never stay at this hotel again

Excellent staff, friendly and welcoming. The room was spotless and well presented. The building itself though was a bit undesirable with rubbish (baby nappies) laying in the walkways, a foul odour filled the building and elevators. The hallway walls had dirt all over them, the external windows and externals where full of cigarette butts and rubbish.
Upon arriving to the building, we where bombarded with multiple people asking if we needed a room to stay and not taking no for an answer. The place was extremely busy and hard to navigate, but when we asked for directions, we where given good assistance.
Over all we felt safe in the facilities, felt welcomed by all the people we came across and the location of the accommodation is perfect as it is central.

it is all tiled with modern big beige tiles, nice tv, smoke detector and fire alarm, lock safe, very nice owner, beautiful etched bathroom door, air conditioning, elevator, excellent location. However, the space is limited: only abut 18 between the bed and the wall. The main entrance to the flat was 2 from my door so I heard it all the time. His (owners) desk was 3 from my door. I could hear him in his bathroom, and Im sure vise versa. My stomach was upset and I constantly smelled food. I expect more privacy and space in a hotel so I think calling this a hotel is misleading. It is a hostel room and very nice by those standards.

Exceeded my expectations, only 3mins away from Tsim Sha Tsiu station exit C. The lift to get to the hotel takes forever, so make sure you are first in line. The room I got was a family room it was clean they had lugagge space underneath the bed. Toilet is a wet room and is quiet small. Staff was very nice and friendly.

First off, the location is in this crazy tower block with loads of Indian/Pakistani stalls on the ground floor that hassle you as you walk to the elevator. There are loads of elevators and its a bit of a nightmare trying to find the right one, I was sent up the wrong one when I asked... Once in the room it's not too bad, there is a small but hot shower/bathroom, fridge, safe and aircon with either on or off. Leaving it on can get a bit cold at night, while off it can be too hot.. The staff are friendly enough, though playing music and speaking loudly in the reception which if 2 feet from my door wasn't appreciated. Had to ask to turn it down once because I was trying to sleep. Another point is there is a nasty curry smell that comes into the room from below. Other than that it is at least cheap and in a good location. Would I stay again? Probably not unless I was on a strict budget.

Not that bad really, just dont expect a 4 star experience. Right in the heart of Nathan Road, this 16 story building probably has 500+ rooms. The rooms are the size of our bathrooms at home. Definitely meant for the budget traveler or back packer. Elevators are slow but then a ton of people using them. Room was clean and cleaned every day. Check in was different but again, this is not a 4 star! I am past being a backpacker or living as such but if you want adventure, then by all means stay here. 5 minute walk to anywhere...Star Ferry the best value on the island...

Room very small, little space to move,no restaurant, but clean, quiet and all amenities that fit into about 6 square meters are there.Tv only has local channels, elevator service is slow,at first the entrance of this building is scary and crowded, but I had no problem.Check in and out easy.I rate it for the money I paid an easy 90%

This hotel is cheap and you get what you pay for. The room while very small was clean, there was good wifi, TV and air-con. The main room downside was a horrible smell of cooking food early in the morning coming from the 'window'/air-con unit. Accessing the hotel was via a floor of shops where you were always hassled by the sellers, which was highly annoying but didn't feel unsafe. Accessing the hotel was slow as there was always a queue to the small lift - hotel is on the top, 16th floor, Block E - remember this as there are many lifts that only go to specific floors/areas. Overall if you are on a budget this isn't the worst hotel to stay in.

My husband and I needed to stay in a budget hotel for 2 nights. This was ideal. As other reviewers have said, it was not so easy to find the hotel inside Chungking Mansion - we had to ask where the E Block was. Check-in was very quick, but then our actual room was in another area, so the staff lead us back down the elevator to another block inside the building. We believe this is because the hotel had overbooked. For information, Chungking mansion is a big indoor market, full of Indian / Pakistan curry eateries and electronics stores. Very multicultural. This did not bother us. We did not feel unsafe at all. As other reviewers said the wait for the elevator is quite long, as they are very small, and in high demand - it is a very busy area. There are loads of tourists from all over the world. Once in the room, (yes, it was very small, but that's Hong Kong!) we were quite comfortable. We booked a double room, and the bed was small. We are small people, so if you are a larger couple, you might want to book a twin room or triple or even family room. The room was extremely clean (and I am fussy!) It is newly refurbished. Had a mini fridge but no microwave. We ate curry for breakfast downstairs. Can also buy Turkish pizza and even some sandwiches. There was no bottles of water, but the manager said we had unlimited access to the bottled water in the foyer (adjacent to room), so we filled up a couple of small saved water bottles each night.

This room has everything you need except space. It is clean, well setup and fine for the price. It is very very small however as we were transiting for one night it was great . The hard part is actually finding it. The best thing to do once you find the street number on Nathan rd is to ask people at the front of the address. It is also helpful if you get a block number from the hotel when you book. This sounds strange but you will understand when you try to locate the hotel. It should be block E for reception but there are many quest houses in this building so it could change . All in all the $50 we paid for the night for two people was good value . There was a microwave and bottled water available outside your room. It was in a great location and also within walking distance to our cruise ship departure point. Also when we arrived at the airport we caught the fast train into town and then a free shuttle to the holiday inn and then a 5 minute walk to our hotel . Found our stay very easy , cheap, and simple . Just be prepared for a room the size of a shoe box ...

I am a 72-year old woman who was travelling alone. Before my arrival, I was a bit concerned about having booked a room in a hotel located in Chung King Mansions, given the reputation of the building. The building was as bad as expected but I felt safe in spite of the motley group of people hanging around at the entrance and the sometimes long wait for the lift. The hotel itself was superb for its price range. I had booked a room at Hotel Skylark but ended up in Hotel Skycity that belongs to the same organization.
The hotel room itself was spotless, the room was cleaned every day and a new towel provided. The air conditioning worked perfectly, and so did the hot water heater. The WiFi signal was strong. There was a hair dryer and a safe in the room; I was told that I could use the fridge and the microwave at the hotel entrance.

Staff is friendly. The room is small but location is very convenient. For the price I have no complaints. The bathroom is very very small but provide very hot water. The air conditioning is cold and very quiet. I do not mind not havent no windows. Security is simple but good enough. As a solo traveller I will stay here again.

The money i paid for this wasnt worth it. The entrance was so dirty . The cigarette butts scattered and garbage was so smelly in the walkway and the elevator do not have a going up option unless you are in the ground floor. The room was so small that could hardly accommodate two people standing at a time...
Sorry but i just hope expedia would accredit hotels better than skylark or yet never stay in chungking mansion.
