Lovely well presented hotel, 2 night stay overlooking the sea front, with putting green, free parking, easy walk into the town centre ,

A one-night stay for the first time at this hotel but given a welcome as if we were long established guests staying much longer. A compact room but with a spacious en suite and nice big towels. A smallish double bed but very comfortable.

Hotel was lovely, clean, room, spa and food was great but wish was made aware it was a hotel catered and focused for older people as we felt uncomfortable as no younger guests, also wish was more clear that the spa and outdoor pool was not in this hotel and had to walk over to sister hotel adjacent

Good place to stay short walk to the shops

Very comfortable hotel, excellent attentive staff, spotlessly clean, good breakfast, didn't eat there due to concerts we were attending during Folk week started too early for service. Good parking which can be a bonus in Sidmouth. Traditional luxury. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Brilliant
We pulled up in a convenient parking space not 50 steps from the check-in desk after a day of driving
We took our luggage out of the car boot and before we could even close it again, a smartly dressed, smiling, very polite Jack appeared and asked if he could help with our bags
Immediately we knew we’d found a lovely hotel
And that set the tone for our stay; friendly, easy check-in, bit of an upgraded room (thank you) very well appointed, spacious, clean, light, comfortable.
Enjoyed a drink on the sunny terrace, again first class service from the staff there, which was equally first class from the waiting staff in the restaurant; super meal followed by a good night’s sleep
The same friendly, efficient service at breakfast, and a cheerful check-out
Not had such an agreeable hotel experience in a long time

It was amazing, wonderful friendly staff, the breakfast was served at the table in a timely manner. Lovely outdoor heated pool and the Spa you could use at the Victoria which was no hassle only a very short walk. Plenty of parking and EV chargers if you need them. The hotel is also a short walk into town you don’t need to drive anywhere.

Amazing location, lovely people and a really substantial, delicious breakfast.

Wonderful place to stay. Truly exceptional standards of food and service.
Sitting in the dining room with the piano being played in the background is quite special - a little bit like travelling back in time to an era with style!

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Belmont. We would ask for a bigger bathroom next time. You could hardly brush your teeth in the sink due to the cabinet above. Bedroom was fine although there was no fridge or mini bar unless you requested one, no bath robes ( a lot of hotels do have these now) Quite upmarket hotel, dining was good with some lovely meals, but don't order the crab salad starter which was a total joke due to how tiny it was. I think it had one piece of cress with it, and the amount of crab was a laugh and one main course of lamb was very poor quality, but apart from those 2, all the rest of the food was great but over priced. Jacket and tie for dinner was fun, everyone making an effort. The staff were brilliant, helpful and friendly, with the general manager, Tim, always ready to help. The bar manager, Stewart, was fairly abrasive with my wife when she asked for tea, stating that he was far too busy at the moment! Good location for the seafront, free parking. I would give it 9 out of 10.

Lovely bedroom with view of cricket ground. Staff helpful and pleasant. Lounge attractive and food very good.
Bedroom would benefit from a safe, a fridge and dressing gowns.
Will be interested to see how the use of sister hotel swimming pool and spa will work out.
Many thanks to staff for looking after us.

Great location, lovely front decking area in the sun with sea views. Old fashioned style hotel. Breakfast was good though used cheap bread for toast. Lovely room overlookkng the gardens, though the shower was compacr for.larger persons and shower lacked power on 3rd floor.

This was one of the best hotels we have stayed in outside of London. The room was very clean, decor of the hotel very pleasant, staff attentive and very close to the beach. Breakfast was good and so were the room amenities. Would love to go back.

Great location, excellent service. The spa is in the hotel next doors, but very accessible and well kept.

We’ve stayed many times over the years. The service was excellent, but the food particularly the Salmon Fishcake starter was well below the standard we’d expect.

Beautiful historical hotel going through some renovations.I was lucky enough to stay here on a very reasonable rate I think due to scaffolding and works being carried out on the front of the hotel. Even with the scaffolding the sea view and watch the sun coming up in the morning was just spectacular. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with good local produce cooked well. Hotel had that old world feeling and naturally guests generally seemed of more mature years but a nice overnight stay for business. Only slight criticism was that the workies on the scaffolding were outside my room windows at 8.15am but were not meant to start until 9am. All in all, lovely night's stay and would recommend.

Wonderful location. Our room was really lovely. Spotlessly clean & with everything you'd need. Super king bed. Staff were professional, friendly & efficient.
Only downside was that as the hotel is currently being refurbished externally, scaffolding encases the front facade. Whilst this didn't detract from natural light in our room (we would have had a seaview), we had to keep our curtains drawn from 9am as there were workers on the scaffold directly outside our window. Shame. Perhaps as a gesture the hotel could have offered something, however small, to compensate.

Good experience all round, apart from ..... rather dull breakfast, coffee needs to catch up with the 21st century norms.
