All great besides the bathroom un-funcional configuration with the shower located outside of the bath itself.
Breakfast is excellent with Onagi and Salmon.

Warning: this is a long rant
One of the main reasons I chose Hotel Gracery is it is located in a very convenient location. My parents were living in Kyoto in the 1960s for 10 years, we have been returning to the city almost every year even my family moved away to North America. This time I was back to Kyoto with my 92-year-old father, he always love to dine and shop around Nishiki market and Teramachi, and he was surprised there is such a new hotel in the area so he was very happy about it. However, there are two things I need to point out, especially last year we stayed at Daiwa Roynet Hotel where they have much better conditions regarding the issues: 1. There is no air vent in the toilet room— Gracery has a toilet room that is separate from the bathroom. On the first day of arrival I noticed the unpleasant smell from the toilet room was quite strong, and everyday even the cleaning ladies done their duty to clean our room, the smell in the toilet room just never goes away.
2. My Dad seems alright with the pillows but I personally don’t appreciate they use two pillows that have diffèrent texture /fillings— Usually hotels like Daiwa Roynet have two pillows that filled with feathers on bed but Gracery only has one. They have extra pillows on the shelf but the texture is quite hard and uncomfortable so my sleep quality wasn’t very good…….
Sorry for the ranting

Great hotel for a first time visit to Kyoto. We didn’t know this but the hotel is within a complex of covered shopping arcades with direct access to the subway which made it super convenient to venture out to shop and eat whatever the weather. Super well connected via subway and bus to all main attractions and 15 min walk to Gion district!
The only thing we were a bit surprised was the check-in experience, which was all done via a machine so it felt a bit chainy. Also this was the only hotel in our 3-week Japan trip that didn’t offer free daily water bottles. They provided 2 tiny ones the first day but if you needed more you had to pay ÿ200 per bottle which didn’t feel right (went to 7/11 instead). Other than that everything else perfect!

The room is very nice and clean also everything is convenient in everywhere, whatever you want to do and have a lot of restaurants around the area we stayed. Also the staff are helpful and nice to the customers...

We loved staying here. The only issue was that we didn’t know we were supposed to book our breakfast ahead of time. We wanted to try the breakfast buffet on our last day. We had been traveling for 2 weeks. We were still willing to pay, yet we still got denied and weren’t allowed to dine for the buffet. Nothing else is open that early, we ended up getting food at the 7-11, but considering we were already there for 4 days, that’s didn’t seem hospitable. Sometimes people don’t know that they want to book a breakfast months in advance, but want the option to have it if we are still willing to pay. We didn’t like that. Overall, it was a pleasant stay but that minor detail alone was off putting.

Best ever location just at the Shinkyogoku Shopping Center. Close everywhere. Room clean, everyday service. Plenty (if not more) restaurants nearby. Super profesional service.

Great location! The hotel was clean and convenient. We really enjoyed our stay. The only thing that could be improved was newer pillows. Ours were so flatted and clumpy...

The gracery hotel was a fine and more westernized Hotel by size standards. It is sound in a good location surrounded by many different stores and is close to everything that you would need in Kyoto. The rooms were very large and the location felt extremely safe. Staff were very helpful and accommodating and help with things like holding onto luggage and checking in. Please note that the check-in is found in the South tower and that if you're staying in the North tower you require your room key card to be able to access it. On the second floor of the North tower, there was also a lounge with free drinks and complimentary toiletries. Given the price we paid as well as the amenities and the generosity of the staff not to mention the great location of this hotel, I would definitely consider staying here again on my next trip to Kyoto. Many thanks from my wife and I!

Ideally located got shopping and getting around.

Excellent location within walking distance of Nishiki market. Close to multiple dining and shopping options in a highly walkable neighborhood.
The hotel has two towers - North and South. Contrary to what’s stated on the hotel website, check-in is in the South tower only. Good selection of amenities in the hotel lobby; nice salon in the 2nd floor, complete with a small smoking room. The room itself is large and comfortable. It appears freshly redesigned with modern touches.

Wonderful hotel in shopping arcade of Kyoto. Within walking distance to a lot of bus and subway stops so easy to get around and there are stores and restaurants everywhere so it was great to explore Kyoto. Hotel was wonderful and quiet, we tried to breakfast which was definitely worth the price. Check-in was easy and staff answered all of our questions easily. Our one minor issue, and it is out of the control of the hotel, so we didn't say anything, was that our window was over a (admittedly delicious smelling!) yakitori restaurant, so every evening we couldn't open our window due to the smell of grilled chicken getting into the room. I would recommend if possible asking for a room that faces away from Rokkaku-dori street.

Great hotel. Fabulous location. Efficient. Room bigger than a lot of Japanese hotels. Breakfast was a real highlight. Great value for money.

The room was very spacious and clean. Also was located at a convenient place to walk to the main road for riding taxis, and other nearby stores. We will definitely come back if we stay in Kyoto again in the future.

Staff was so kind and helpful. They’re there to serve!

The area around the hotel is filled with shops and restaurants. Convenience stores are also nearby. The only downside was that the train station was a bit of a walk in a crowded area in the afternoon with luggage. It was fine for morning departure. However, did have to walk to a major street for taxi access.

But on the whole, beds were comfortable

This is in the heart of town and has so many food and shopping options around. Highly recommend! Even our budget room was spacious by Japanese hotel standards. The amenities were thoughtful as well. Would stay again!

Pretty good on the whole. Location is the biggest advantage of this hotel. Amenities including hot water pot are available. Most impressed is that disposable paper cups are provided so no hygiene concern. On the other hand, carpet in the room is a bit strained and wifi is slow….
