I loved staying here! I stayed in the loft so I can't speak to the regular rooms but it was super spacious with a full kitchen and living room. Everything was very clean and comfortable and staff was kind and helpful. We had a maintenance issue (not the hotel's fault) and they were very quick to respond and fix it. Check in and out was quick and easy. Very quiet in the room. The only thing I wish was different is having more than 1 parking spot per room, especially for their biggest room there. We had to park a car a 5 min walk away for the weekend which wasn't a huge deal but parking in the lot would have been easier. I'd definitely stay here again and probably will next time I'm in Long Beach

I can't understand why this place has so many good reviews? It's an ok hotel, not more than that. Room was small, bathroom was small. Glad I didn't bring a suitcase, would have been difficult to place it anywhere that wouldn't be in the way. Shower took forever to get warm water and with just a simple shower curtain the entire bathroom floor got wet. Only a small window, which couldn't be kept open and couldn't be locked. Walls ar paper thin. Someone walks in the hallway - you hear it. Someone talks or plays music in the room next door - you hear it. Somenone opens their room door a bit too aggressively - you hear it. Anything makes a sound outside - you hear it. Bed was good, so at least I slept well (until someone made a noise somewhere and woke me up again). All in all, it's an ok hotel. But reviews (and price) leads you to believe it should be much better....

Super small they want you to sleep standing up. There is no parking. They didn't clean my room. The coffee they serve is terrible! Please don't waste your money, don't come to this hotel!

Loved that cruiser bike rentals were included with the stay. Room was tiny but efficient and clean. Location in downtown LBC was convenient for waterfront and beach access.

To be honest, not great. There was no closet, no luggage rack to put a well traveled suitcase on which meant it had to be on the bed. Additionally, at the bottom of the bedframe there is an extension which we both banged into. After a long day of travel, we wanted a glass of wine but forgot our opener. I was surprised the front desk nor the kitchen had one. I had to go to Village Market to purchase one. Also, the bottom of the tub was very slippery and the power button on the air conditioner was filthy.

This is my second visit at this lovely little hotel in the heart of Long Beach, very convenient location and the staff is always very accommodating, I made a reservation online I wasn't too happy with the room cuz I made the reservation the last minute but they accommodated me in a beautiful way and move me exactly where I wanted to be I love this place

Older small hotel. Multiple roaches in hallway and in room 9. Staff and management very apologetic and gave full refund. We did not stay the night and checked into another hotel. No elevator. No one to assist carrying luggage up the stairs. Stairs and lobby did not seem cleanest either and strange smell.

This is the MOST HORRIBLE HOTEL IN MY EXPERIENCE TRAVELING FOR BUSINESS. Hotel lobby smelled like urine, dirty and grimy. Rooms were ok but they used so much cleaning chemicals it was impossible to stay in the room for longer than 15min. I am sorry to give this place such a scathing review but it was BAD. Don’t claim you are a boutique hotel when this really is a dump. No refunds. I will not book through Expedia again. Shame on you for false advertising. Not cool.

I really liked the staff at Hotel Royal. They were very nice and accommodating to specific guest requests. This is a boutique hotel so there is a more personal touch when it comes to hospitality as opposed to a hotel chain. I liked that in the rooms we stayed at there was a fridge in the room. It might be nice to have a safety deposit box in each room.

Twice we had to ask for towels out of 4 days. The bed was made only 2 times. . Cleaning supplies were left in the room and not picked up. At checkout nobody has asked us : how was your stay.

We loved the place very spacious. But the floors could really use a good sweeping and mopping. And there was a lot of fruit flies or something flying around. Staff were really nice, and loved the location i would definitely stay again. But we would have to address the floor and nats.

The hotel reminds me of a European hotel, with its steep stairs and the collegiate-like lobby area. I only stayed for one night, but I appreciated the amenities (I made use of the microwave and refrigerator, after picking up groceries from the supermarket down the street). My bed was comfortable and spacious, and that air conditioner was a Godsend on a hot day.

The ladies at the front desk were friendly and they were amazing with the texts and responses. 10 on a 10-scale! Our room appeared to be clean. The hotel is located very close to restaurants and wine bars with a cute market across the street and only a few minutes’ walk from the water. The location is great!! However, we will not be returning to Hotel Royal. We have traveled all over the world and never stayed in a room so small. The “Cozy Full” room was 8X9. And situated in that 8x9 space was a small nightstand, a full-size bed, a small woven-wood chair, a small fridge (nice!) a microwave, and also the world’s smallest bathroom. Soak that up for a moment…. ALL of that - AND the bathroom - in a space of 8x9. It’s important for this review to know that my husband and I are smaller-build people. I am 5’5” 120 lbs and he is 5’6” 155 lbs. Even still, one of us had to step aside to move past the other. The “Full” bed took up 99% of the room space and was honestly barely larger than a twin. There is no dresser and no closet, your clothes hang from a hook mounted to the wall. Watching TV was out of the question as the TV streaming channels couldn’t maintain a connection. The “Cozy Full” bathroom shown on their website was 2X the size of the “Cozy Full” bathroom we got. The shower was so small I banged both elbows against the walls when I washed my hair. We paid $165/night. Had I known, I would not have booked the room had it been half as much.

Customer service here is top notch, however everything else leaves much to be desired. I booked a "Deluxe Full" room, and there was not much deluxe about it. The fixtures were worn, old, and not kept in good condition. The bathroom had hair all over it, the faucet was rusted and dirty, and the towels and washcloths were stained with hair stuck in them. The area is also kind of sketchy, so if you are a female solo traveler, be aware of your surroundings. If you are in a pinch and can catch a good deal for a night it may be worth it, but it will likely not be the most comfortable experience.

I enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Royal. The staff was great and very friendly and accommodating. They make sure everything is perfect for the visit. Lots of extra touches like free bikes, water, coffee etc. which is so much appreciated for the tired traveler. This is not a 20’ x 20’ cookie cutter major chain hotel room. You are going to be staying in a very unique space with a lot of love and attention put into it - very refreshing. Great experience for the money and I would definitely stay again during my next trip to Long Beach and I highly recommend for you.

Was horrendous, do not go there. I was doing a late check in due cyber crash. The lobby is closed at 11pm. I could not find the entrance using the direction nor could the cab driver. He was familiar with area. It was seedy and did not match the photos. I could not I would not allow my lady to be out like that. I paid for another hotel . Safety first.
