Lovely location. Clearly understaffed. Dinner and breakfast took forever. My husband’s dinner came out in drinks and drabs. Nice enough but a bit overpriced.

Arrived wet and cold having walked 20 miles and reception immediately said they’d turn up the heating in our room to dry out our coats and boots
Went down for dinner and food was very nice and tasty

My husband and I had a nice stay in this historical old inn right off of the town square in Grassington. Due to its age, the rooms were quite small, but modernized and cosy. My only complaint is that we had booked a room with king bed (which some rooms did have), but our bed was definitely not a king. Other than that, the stay was fine. The pub/restaurant downstairs was very nice. The staff was lovely, if a bit busy. I am happy to recommend this inn as a good place to stay in Grassington. (Oh, there is no on-site parking, but we found parking right up the hill behind the Town Hall.)

We stayed in Grassington for a few days and the Black Horse is an excellent place to stay. You can’t beat the location and the breakfast was always a delight.
We hope to return.

looked after our bags whilst we went walking having arrived on the local bus around noon. some confusion regarding booking/table reservation which got sorted out quickly. narrow stairs to rooms, difficult with heavy bags, however room nice with comfortable beds and large bathroom with tub #8 - quiet inside & out, great choice of handpump beers, reasonable prices, best meal of six day trip in their restaurant- thoroughly recommended

Terrible front of house customer service
Checked in and presented with a pre order breakfast and advised that our choice would apply to all three days. Eventually reluctantly relented and told that we could have another form for a different breakfast choice
No pen in the room to fill out the form, duty manager told me that they no longer put pens in the room as they are stolen
The bath is not long enough to lay in if you are taller than 5’4”, there’s no storage in the bathroom and the taps are incorrectly plumbed to the basin
The mirrored wardrobe is positioned opposite a very bright bedside light and gives lots of glare
Front of house staff argued with me about various issues, it seems that the customer is always wrong in this hotel

Great Yorkshire Dales pub in the heart of Grassington. Lovely selection of spirits and ales. Nice atmosphere managed by Joel. Food is excellent and reasonably priced. Will be back to stay here.

Lovely hotel in gorgeous village of Grassington. Cannot recommend The Black Horse highly enough. Rooms are spacious, clean with lovely bed linen, beds are really comfortable. Lovely thick white towels. Rooms exceptionally clean. Breakfast at the hotel top notch. Staff are attentive without being intrusive. Booked an evening meal at the hotel, which was lovely. Booked to stay again in December.

A wonderful spot which I look forward to visiting again! Perhaps discourage smoking right in front of the pub door, and provide new guests with instructions for getting checked in (i.e. drop bags on patio, go park your car, come back and get checked in).

Nice Inn in beautiful historic village.

Absolutely beautiful place! It has been so tastefully and beautifully decorated! And the breakfast was varied and delicious! I really enjoyed my stay! Only thing that could be improved upon were that the staff sometimes seemed really rushed at breakfast, so much so that they were dropping things all over the place and made you feel rushed and anxious, which isn’t a what you want to feel when you’re on vacation and are trying to relax.

Great service
Shame about the inconsiderate couple in the next room who left their dogs alone to bark and be distressed

Lovely hotel. Staff very friendly and efficient. Unfortunately due to the national staffing issue within the hospitality business the bar and restaurant weren’t open during our stay. The breakfasts was excellent! Will definitely return and stay here

Stayed at the Black Horse Hotel in mid-September '20. We felt safe from a COVID perspective, but have the following observations to make: - On first entering the room, it was clean, but the door was unlocked so we could not confirm whether anyone had been in after the cleaning. - About half of the guests we met on the stair-wells / corridors were not wearing masks or face coverings, although the hotel had asked us to do so due to the inability to social-distance; we also met several staff members in these areas who were not wearing a face-covering. - Some bar and serving staff (breakfast) had their visors pushed up on the top of their heads so as to make the face visor a pointless addition to their PPE.Management - you cannot control what customers do, but please reinforce the message with staff about correctly wearing PPE for both their safety and that of customers.
