Amazing views, pools, restaurants and service

Great property!! Only down side was that the food at restaurants in hotel was hit or miss.

A great place

Enjoyed our stay. It’s nice and peaceful a short ride from the main town but worth it. Close enough to drive into Kona town but far enough to enjoy the country. They also have an amazing Manta Ray viewing area out side to relax and quietly watch the Mantas swim.

The staff was exceptional. Especially Leby Del Rosario and Danny Del Rosario.. we love to go back..

Everyone was so happy and welcoming!

Our stay was amazing. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The pool is a great place to spend some downtime. The manta ray viewing area is a must!

I stayed with family under their reservations most of the days but also booked part of it myself.
Changing rooms, rentals cars, etc was all really convenient. Staff always let us park temporarily and helped us stay in the same room/manage multiple bookings.
Also had some free activities and discounts for others. Great place to stay, especially if you fly in/out of the Kona airport.

Very nice pool and resort we had fun .

The outrigger, previously a Sheraton, is an ageing property that needs some work. The architecture and design of the facility are exceptional. The ocean views and location over the manta ray bay are pure Kona. The facility has a large water slide facing the ocean views with a sand pool, lots for kids to do. A convenient bar & grill menu provides very good food and drinks. A completely separate adult pool is quiet and romantic and makes for easy reading. The only downside currently is a wave damaged restaurant and closed bar. Losing the ocean front dining and views is a big miss. Locals crowd the kiddie pool during the weekends so timing of your visit can make a big difference in your experience. Staff moral ran 50/50. Some were definitely not happy to be working there while others were wonderfully nice. This was our third visit to the property. The easy trip into Kailua-Kona makes this a great place to stay when the restaurant reopens.

Very nice, pools were clean and able to see the manta rays from our room! Loved the ocean view from our room

Such a great place to relax enjoy everything around, beautiful sea view and excellent customer service thank you.

The one restaurant was weird. The property was old and lacked any energy or personality. I know it is on an island but my friends room had a ton of roaches. Not what I was expecting at all.

The pool area was great for kids - but there was very limited service at the pool. The rooms were a good size but we kept finding ants all over the place and I work up one morning to some in the bed. The area around the hotel is nice.

Absolutely breathtaking views! Beautiful, clean, lovely employees, and overall amazing experience. The green, cleanliness, skies and visuals at sunset were once in a lifetime feel!

Pretty disappointing; they wouldn’t check us in when we got off the fight 2 hours early. WIFI didn’t work in the room. Safe was broken in second room, was dirty around the pool, breakfast service took 20 minutes, eggs cold twice, someone left a poop in my friends toilet (!!!), they wouldn’t accommodate a sugar free cocktail, the neighbor played the tv so loud we couldn’t sleep at 1 AM and the told ME TO GO KNOCK on his door!

Could use a few more food options, limited selection later in the evening, not super kid friendly meuns. Room service would definitely be appreciated. Overall a beautiful property that will only be even more stunning when renovations of spa and some of the grounds are complete.

This resort was quiet and very relaxed, which was perfect for my wife and I. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We loved the pool and the ocean views! Only downside was the pool bar closing at 7pm when the pool is open until 10pm.

Beautiful resort. Amazing staff that acknowledged us and went above to help us celebrate a special occasion. Views, quiet, amenities/activities all top notch! I was surprised resort guests had to pay for the luau at the resort.

No beach, far from everything

Positives:
* Very friendly staff
* Quiet hotel - while there were a lot of people, it never felt crowded
* Very nice location - from view and surrounding gardens perspective
* Nightly direct close-up view towards manta rays in the ocean
* Fitness center
* Separate adult pool
* Good AC
* Tennis and basketball courts
Could be improved:
* The area where you can look at manta rays was run down, and somewhat not in use (there was kitchen/bar area that wasnt utilized - would have loved to have drinks there and just have long evening chats outside)
* Not enough food options
* Restaurant that was there - the lunch and dinner food was good. But the price is super high - fancy restaurant high. Because of this a lot of people opted to look for food options elsewhere. Drinks were decent price.
* Small shop that sold tourist stuff, snacks and food was way overpriced. Wines, alcohol and various food items were 2-3x more expensive than in other places or normal shops in Hawaii.
* SPA area was not working at all, and it was not even shared anywhere.
* Several equipment in the gym was out of order.
* It was very visible that the hotel overall requires refreshment and fixing up, and the new owner (Outrigger) has started some of it.

Breakfast at the cafe on the resort was very delicious. As was the food and coffee at the coffee bar outside the cafe. The resort had beautiful views of the coastline especially during sunset. The room was great and fit my family of 3. The resort is very close to the main shopping and dining area on Ali’i Drive. Overall very nice resort, glad we chose to stay here!

Pool was great and hotel room

This hotel did not seem ready for guests. Most of the staff was not friendly and seemed inconvenienced when we asked any questions. Half the restaurants/bars were closed. It was a beautiful location and the rooms were nice. Beds were comfortable. Pool was nice. I will not be staying here again though.

We loved this hotel. It was easy to get to and close to shopping and activities. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful Frankie was great! Kai and Liana were also very helpful and welcoming.
Toa and Guy were great at the pool and we loved the fresh pineapple brought out everyday for the guests.
We do wish the pool deck was swept/washed a bit more to keep the little rocks away.
Overall a great resort!

Loved the pools, the grounds were beautiful with spectacular ocean views and tropical plants. Our room didn't have an ocean view but we had a view of the mountains and of the bay from the balcony and an ocean view right outside the door with the sounds of the waves. On site restaurants were pretty expensive but the convenience store on site had reasonable priced handmade drinks like smoothies, boba, and Espresso drinks. Spa was under renovation so was not able to use that. The main pool bar was also under renovation but a smaller portable pool bar was set up and a waiter was available to get drinks from the cafe. The concierge was very helpful with great suggestions of things to see and do on the island. Room was clean and fresh along with the whole resort. Wasn't very crowded when we went in mid June. Overall really enjoyed our stay.

Mostly great stay! We were there just one night and loved the close proximity to the manta ray snorkel. The room was spacious with a large lanai. Some drawbacks: the sheets were scratchy and unpleasant and the toilet seat was oddly shaped and too small.

good view

Bed mattress was so soft we both woke up with a backache. Only one bar operational in this large hotel. Also, they charge $25.00 per hour if you need a late checkout after 11:00 a.m.

The check-in person was incredible! She made our stay start off in a great way. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. As I spent more time here, I found everyone to be like this. The resort is at a great location, with huge, warm pools with a slide, staffed by people who want to make your stay as good as you hoped it would be for your Hawai’i vacation.
