Good over night stay. Comfortable, clean and polite staff

Perfect location, easy parking room was nice but dated. Downside, The walls are are so thin we could hear the people next door walking around, talking, using the toilet and snoring all night it was like being in the same room. I would stay again but would need ear-plugs.

Stayed there many times always good

We had a 2 night break here and couldn’t recommend it enough. Staff were great and the location perfect for both the town and sea front. We will definitely stay here again!

Wonderful location, friendly service, superb breakfast

Ok stay only used as a night stop over

The hotels location is excellent and the staff friendly and great in every way. However, the owners of this hotel need to invest heavily as it is in a bad state of repair. It is however cheap and value for money, its just a shame as it could be magnificent. The dinner was particularly good both nights.

We had our dog so we’re given a ground level room with sliding patio doors straight out to the garden which was brilliant especially as our dog is a little nervy and would be stressed having to go through the hotel, it was also easy for us to get out and about with no bother,

Good location, large carpark - but no mention on website it is £6 per night to park
2.5
Great location, close to the beach and town centre for restaurants, pubs with live music and shopping. Great rail links to nearby Exeter, etc. The hotel service was excellent, the room clean and reasonable choice of food available daily

Great hotel in good position

We loved the view from the room and the work that has been done on the outside terrace. We thought that the entrance to reception and the reception area could be improved. We missed not having a fridge in room. Otherwise had a great stay.

Excellent all round. Superb staff, location, dining etc etc. wide choice of rooms, spacious parking. Our fourth visit and already planning the next.

Approaching the hotel from the seafront road we were not holding out much hope. The outside is in desperate need of repainting and repair. Arriving in the carpark there was a sign saying to register your car with Reception. What we were not aware of when booking was the £6 daily charge to park. The grounds of this hotel are huge. Why do they need to charge a parking fee?!! It tainted our mood on arrival as did the steps leading upto the Reception. The steps are carpeted and are not the kerb appeal you would expect. Very dusty and dirty. Maybe better to remove the carpet and sweep the steps. Our room was dated but clean and the beds comfortable so we slept well. The staff are friendly and the food is ok.

Very convenient for all

Lovely setting, homely feel hotel, staff friendly, Bar was cheaper than going out, massive room, though a little dated, but that added to the authenticity, which we loved. We definitely go back again 😊

Hotel location is fantastic but the hotel itself is extremely poor. Going upstairs to our room we were met with a smell of damp. Carpets threadbare in places and decor generally poor. Room was clean but basic and you needed a magnifying glass to watch the very small TV. We had breakfast only in the hotel but again this was not value for money. One morning we turned up at 9am and were left with very little to choose from the buffet. Would not choose to rebook unless completely refurbished.

Very clean hotel and ideally situated.
Great views and lovely grounds to walk about.
However, beds were very uncomfortable. I think the mattresses have seen better days.

Hotel was clean and well run. Lawns in front to road and beach. Close to marina and ferry. Friendly staff.

Really nice weekend away room clean bed comfy restaurant shame pet friendly but not allowed in restaurant had to eat in a side room table no table cloth felt little like second class

The hotel is ageing. It was noisey due to beds being moved several times in the middle of rhe night. The tv was the smallest i have ever seen - 12" screen! Too small to see properly. Breakfast buffet was £10 and choice was very limited.

Very clean and great sea view from the front, reception staff was superb.
2nd time here and would highly recommend.

Warm welcome. Early check in too, thx to the friendly lady on reception. Room Nice and clean, grand sea view with balcony. Lift to floor also. What a shame about the king bed. 1 side was sunk and needs replacing. I did mean to tell reception before i left, but i forgot! Food was real good, well presented and very tasty. And a good price for 2/3 courses. I shall return at some point.

The hotel rooms require a refurbishment , chairs in the room we stayed in were frayed and peeling . Other than that a nice hotel but I would say for the elderly generation as appears geared towards this clientelle. Food was ok . Waiters and waitresses excellent. Excellent spot next to the sea front .

I have already reviewed previously. The hotel felt unloved but the staff were friendly and helpful. The building needs money spent on it. Chairs and stairwell carpets were both worn.

If you're looking for five star luxury, spa and swimming pool with a Michelin fine dining restaurant then The Imperial isn't for you!
If you're looking for brilliant value for money with fantastic customer service from every single member of staff, delicious freshly cooked food both at breakfast and dinner - 3 course for only £20 and great choices too - drinks that aren't the normal hotel high prices, spotlessly clean rooms with sea views and balconies in the heart of the town set right in the beach then book a stay here, I can highly recommend it!
Many thanks for a fantastic stay we will be back.
