Amazing accommodation- definitely stay here!!

You really are right on the river and can jump straight in. The views are insane. Rooms are quite spacious with mosquito nets. Can’t believe the stay is as good for the price.

It only has fans but it cools down a lot so was a good sleep. You’re a little bit further from the centre but only about 15 mins.

Wonderful riverside stay.

Good breakfast eggs french bread and fruit sitting on the deck overlooking the river. Great staff. Bikes were useful as it was a about a kilometer into town. The rooms open onto a deck and it was lovely to sit and watch the sun rise and set over the mountains.

The bikes could have done with new pedals. The river is very slow flowing - the staff cant do anything about this - its been dammed further up by the Chinese - we swam in it with no problems but would have been nicer in a flowing river.

Wunderbare Aussicht, aber sehr einfache, teils pekige Zimmer

Die Terrasse und die Aussicht von dieser auf die Berge ist wirklich wunderschön. Gerade abends und morgens sehr angenehm von der Temperatur her.

Die Ausstattung der Zimmer ist sehr einfach. Unser Zimmer war an einigen Stellen dreckig und heruntergekommen, sodass wir uns nicht ganz so wohl gefühlt haben. Der Besitzer ist sehr freundlich, aber das restliche Team wirkt etwas lustlos und ist nicht besonders höflich.

Wunderschön gelegen

Die Gastgeberfamilie ist wirklich bezaubernd. Im Fluss kann man baden und auf der Terrasse schön chillen. Hier lässt es sich aushalten!

Great views but needs maintenance

Unbeatable location. Great deck for relaxing and enjoying the scenery. Host was very nice.

Bikes were old, hard to ride, some were broken. Bathroom flooded when having a shower, didn't drain properly. Has a slightly run down feeling, they need to spend money on maintenance.

Worst Hotel in Laos

Nothing. Avoid like the plague.

Where to begin. Quite frankly the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. There were fleas in the bed of one of the rooms. The bedding was dirty and ripped. The rooms were filthy and in dire need of refurbishing. The shower didn’t get warm. When we tried to cancel the booking and leave after discovering the fleas and the disgusting state of the rooms, one of our party was physically prevented from leaving the hotel by a member of staff and we were threatened with the police if we didn’t pay. We paid and left the next morning. They then cancelled our reservation on booking.com stating we didn’t show up, which I assume was to prevent a review like this. I wonder how many times that has happened because the good reviews beggar belief. Literally the worst hotel we stayed in in SE-Asia. Stay at Phaxang Reaort about a two-minute walk away. The rooms were lovely and clean.

Would recommend.

Really loved our stay here, being right on the water was great. Rooms are pretty basic but good for us. They have free bikes you can use to go around town which is small, walking distance maybe 20 minutes. For us the stand out was breakfast, the pancakes with fruit were the best. We also ate here most nights as we found it had the better food than we could find in town although they often ran out so was limited choice.

Amazing location on the river but could do with better maintenance

Nice location right on the river, good place to relax. Breakfast was good and they do decent barista coffee for an extra cost. Free bikes was necessary as the location is a bit far from town - they weren't in great condition but they worked. Hot showers. Free drinking water and tea/coffee facilties.

The whole place felt a little run down / neglected. Overall still a nice place to stay due to the location right on the water but not as well maintained as other cheaper options in town. All the doors have buckled so they don't close properly and the room itself has holes in the wall & floor. Sink in the bathroom and shower also drains straight into the river which is not very environmentally friendly. Staff were nice but didn't have good English so communication was difficult.

Einfache aber tolle Unterkunft direkt am Fluss

Das Zimmer ist einfach aber in Ordnung. Die Lage ist einfach super. Vor dem Zimmer gibt es einen Sonnenschirm und zwei Liegestühle, dort kann man herrlich in der Sonne liegen und auf den Fluss sehen. Das Personal ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit.

Terras is mooi, kamer valt tegen.

Het terras was geweldig! Fijne ligstoelen en goed zwemmen in de rivier.

De kamer viel erg tegen. Rook muf, schimmel op plafond. Vloerbedekking leek vies. Hard bed. Geen plek om je tas uit te pakken of iets op te hangen.

Unique location, excellent facilities. Beautiful onsite restaurant. Wonderful cats and friendly staff. Very good breakfast, highly recommend the pancakes. Free tea, coffee, water and fruit available 24/7

Limited edition hotel 🏞️ ON OU river.

SPECIAL PLACE 😌 limited edition - budget hotel ON river. Best view to mind-blowing spectacular Nongkhiaw hills, calming Ou river streams, morning swimming session with rich home-feeling breakfast, strong amazing coffee. Room comfy and simply. Need some repairs, water marks on ceiling, walls also could be renewed, but it's not so important for me personally. 0 mosquitos around, best place for remote work at evening, actually I don't wanna promote this place, I wanna keep it for my self.

zero complain, just pure chill. but room-ceiling need to keep fresh from some suspicious marks and wall need to renew.

Perfect retreat in Nong Khiaw

Ou River house is lovely and secluded on the Nam Ou River. Stunning scenery and really relaxing stay. Lovely free breakfast included in the morning and had the added bonus of a free kayak and boat rental and bikes to use. The staff were very helpful. Super close to the bus station (<5 minute walk)

The property had no aircon but had 2 fans which helped to keep it cool. (Make sure to keep the extractor fans in the room and bathroom always running as this helps circulate the air and keep the room cool). The room does get very hot in the day. The curtains were not quite wide enough meaning you couldn't keep the sun out completely. The breakfast menu is slightly confusing as they give you a menu with price on but the breakfasts are included in your stay, but the speciality coffees are not which wasn't very clear.

hôtel à la vue magnifique et très bien agencé

La situation de ce petit établissement sur la rivière offre une vue et une expérience fantastiques! Les chambres sont simples mais jolies, le cadre est fantastique et la décoration d'extérieur ingénieuse et vraiment mignonne. Les repas pris à l'hôtel ont été les meilleurs que nous ayons mangés à Nong Khiaw! A mentionner, nous avions de l'eau bien chaude ce qui peut être rare ici!

L'eau du lavabo qui s'écoule directement sur le carrelage de la salle de bain, mais c'est un détail et ça ne change pas l'expérience très chouette que nous avons vécue ici

Basic stay in a luxury location

Amazing location on the river . Lovely sun beds to watch life float past . Breakfast choices were good and served at your own table outside your room . Very clean. Good mosquito net.

Amazing place

The owner is helpful and friendly, he moved my stay coz I went to 3-days jungle trek. The room is nice and bed is comfor

The view is stunning, it is real whatever photo showing online. Food is amazing, loved the pancake, free coffee and banana.

I wish the room has air conditioner, had a better shower, and wifi is not fast enough.

the view was great and it had good seating outside, really enjoyed the hammock

when we arrived the room light was on and the doors were wide open. which of course meant the room was infested with bugs absolutely everywhere from outside the duvet to inside, on top and under the pillow. I couldn’t say there were bed bugs, however me and my friend woke up to over 20 bites each all over our legs. I can say it ruined our view on the place as coming back from sleeping in the mountain this was worst in terms of the amount of insects.

Cool place

We really liked this place, it is very peacefull and the closest you can get to the river. The owner was very nice, he let us borrow the local kanu and bicycles for free. And they have a cute dog.

We were there in the middle of a heat wave and during the day missed the air conditioning, but the next day when the temperatures dropped a bit (it was still above 30 outside) you really didn't need it.

No food there. Not much around there either. The rooms were so hot but the river was lovely and cool. 5 minute walk to van station but a bit far from town. No taxis unless you have an actual number to phone

Relaxed stay in a lovely guesthouse on the river

I have spent a nice time at this lovely guesthouse. The view was great and it felt so good to just jump into the river at every moment ! The decoration is beautiful, great attention to detail and overall nice atmosphere. The room was clean, the matress was good and every comodity was at a walking distance. The guesthouse is situated in a quiet neighborhood, close to the bus station, and you can use their bike for free to go to the main area and the city center nightlife (15-20 min walking). I met great people when we shared the included breakfast, which was good. The hostel staff was always really friendly, available and happy to help : they gave me lots of tips. Will stay there again for sure!

Exceptional

This accommodation was even better than we expected. The location is beautiful and quiet, but still on walking distance of the town. The owner and his employees are so kind and welcoming. We had a great time together. We were a bit hesitant while booking because there is no AC, but there are two fans in the room and that's more than enough in Nong Khiaw. We would love to stay here again and we would advise anyone to do so.

Great stay in excellent accommodation in an excellent location.

The location is excellent. You could not get accommodation any closer to the river. Get up early enough to see the mist come and give the river and mountainside some atmosphere. Great breakfast enjoyed overlooking the river. Highly recommended.

Location... Jumped in the river every morning! Staff were friendly and great chefs, very tasty food.

Not a big deal but the location is on the edge of the town and on the opposite end of the centre /bridge so had to walk 10 mins.

Great location, the hotel is literally on the river and guests can dip in at any time. The view from the room and the deck is incredible. The breakfast options are nice and served directly to your room. Would highly recommend.
