About this house rental
Ay Ay, captain! Stay in an antique home with an authentic seafaring history!
Captain Burrows was a descendant of one of Mystic’s founding families. He set sail on his maritime adventures as a cabin boy on a whaling voyage, after which he forged a distinguished career as an officer, working on the steamships that ferried passengers from Liverpool, England, to New York and Galveston.
Capt. Burrows' home dates back to circa 1810 and is brimming with nautical character and New England charm. Just imagine the captain bringing goods back from his ship to this very house, sneaking them in through the cellar door to sell to the shipyards that once sat in Mystic Seaport!
Just a 10-min walk to downtown Mystic and with delightful water views of Tuft’s Cove, Captain Burrows Home is perfect for family and friend gatherings, sleeping 6-7 guests in 3 super comfortable bedrooms!

The experience of walking into this home was amazing. It truly awakens all of your senses with music playing in the background, adorable decor and a fresh cherry pie waiting for us. Every corner had something new and interesting to absorb. When we got there we just walked through the home capturing all the details.
The host was wonderful and made the check in and checkout process very easy. Home is with in walking distance to downtown Mystic. Would definitely stay again.

My family (wife and two adult daughters) stayed at the Captain Burrows house. The home was stocked with all the utensils we needed for our three day weekend. We could see the boats in the harbor right out the front window. The host had excellent communication before and during the stay. It is a very short walk into downtown Mystic with plenty of shopping and restaurants. We enjoyed the firepit one night. Highly recommended!

Our family was in Mystic for a wedding and absolutely loved our stay at the Captain Burrows home. The location was great - super easy to get in and around Mystic. The home was clean, the kitchen well-stocked, and the seaside Americana decor made the home comfortable and cozy. We would 100% rent this home again or any property that Debbie & her husband manage. They are top-notch property managers who provide excellent communication about the stay and provide personalized details at the home that make the visitors feel very welcome. I highly recommend.

We absolutely loved our stay in Mystic at the Captain Burrows house. There were so many little touches to make us feel welcome throughout our stay.
The house and grounds are absolutely beautifully decorated. The nautical theme fits in perfectly with the history of the house and the town.
There were three of us traveling together and we each got our own rooms, which was important to us. The beds were very comfortable. The lady who slept downstairs said the bed made squeaks whenever she moved, but it didn't bother her very much. We could not hear any of the squeaks from upstairs.
The house is sparkling clean, there is a washer/dryer if you choose to do laundry, the kitchen is loaded with anything you would need if you choose to cook during your stay. We were quite impressed with the variety of K-cups and tea. And cream in the fridge!
We loved sitting outside in their comfortable lawn furniture, which was also in the shade, so that was nice!
We also appreciated the binder of information that we read through. It was very clear. Also, there were phone numbers and information on the refrigerator, which was helpful.
We would definitely stay there again! Debbie (and Paul, too) are top-notch hosts.

We fell in love with Mystic and are already planning on our trip back to the area! And we LOVED our cute coastal cottage! Deborah was so attentive and we were floored by the way our rental house was presented. It was clean and very comfortable. The historical, nautical feel was so fun for our family spring break getaway. There were comfortable beds for all 6 of us. When we arrived we found a fresh apple pie for us, a fresh daffodil centerpiece, and chocolates by all our beds. The house had everything we needed. We can't wait to come back and will definitely rent from Deborah and Paul again!

From the moment we drove up to this home, the nostalgia was palpable. We entered it like we were diving into a well loved novel. The history, charm, antiques and detail were like an immersive experience. It was truly a piece of art. The photos (which are beautiful) couldn’t capture the magic; which is atypical as photos are usually better. We felt like we were walking into a boutique hotel while also feeling completely at home. It is steeped in history and charm. You can feel the love that Debbie has put into every corner of the property. This was such a special time to spend with my husband and young children. We made memories that will last a lifetime. I hope to return one day as it was just that perfect. The Captain Burrows home was THE highlight of our trip. Mystic and it’s many offerings were a bonus.
On a more practical note, you’ll have everything you need. Extra linens, blankets, paper goods, toiletries, local menus and pamphlets, a stocked kitchen/dining space, apple pie upon arrival and half and half in the fridge. I can’t think of one more thing that would have made our stay more comfortable/easier.

We had such a great stay! With five boys all 11 and under, I was nervous that we might feel like there wasn't enough space, but it was great! Plenty of seating for everyone, lots of great toys, games, and books, great views from the front window, a nice little yard for the kids to burn off some energy.... we would totally stay again!
And, everyone loved the apple pie and chocolates too :)

We enjoyed an amazing week at this historic and beautifully appointed home. The hosts went out of their way to spoil ius, including, luxury chocolates by our beds and a warm baked treat on arrival!
The house is filled with fascinating curios along with extremely comfortable beds and cosy pillows and throws. It is also perfectly situated for walks into Mystic and Noank.
We highly recommend this wonderful and unique property and cannot wait to rebook!

The location was fantastic! It was a short 10 min walk to the Main Street. Having the cove across the street was lovely to view from the dinning room window. The outdoor area was adorable. The house was truly like living in a museum, which was such a unique experience. The house had everything you need and plenty of additional comforts, towels, soap, half/half, paper towels, ect! We did not need to bring any of those things. Deb and Paul thought of everything you could ever need. The cherry pie was delicious and such a nice touch when we arrived. As well, they were only a text away and addressed any concerns immediately.

What pleasure it was to stay in this historic home! There were so many antiques and special little touches, even my children were able to appreciate the uniqueness of this home. It had everything we could have needed and the attentiveness and thoughtfulness of the homeowners was unlike anything we’ve experienced before. We had such a wonderful visit we wished we had booked for longer! Thank you!

My husband and I went to Mystic for a two-day getaway and to meet up with one of his work colleagues. Capt.Burrows home was lovely and was just what we needed. It is filled with furniture and decor to compliment the nautical 1810 feel. The hosts included fresh-cut flowers, plenty coffee/tea choices, even a couple of slices of apple pie! The mattresses on the beds were super comfortable. We really enjoyed sitting in the Adirondack chairs by the fire pit in the evening. It was less than a mile to the Main Street with lots of shops and restaurants.
I only have two cautionary points: 1) I could not get the Superhog website to work with my iPAD (but my husband got it to work just fine on his PC), and 2) the floors are uneven and the stairs are very steep - as one can expect in a home built in 1810 - so this could be a trip/fall risk if someone in your party is prone to tripping or falling.
The yard and gardens are beautiful, and there is a nice view of the water from the side yard where there is a table and chairs. I can highly recommend this rental!

This historic home was very close to downtown. It was equipped with everything that we need to cook and have a family breakfast & dinner. Cozy outdoor area. Each year we rent a house in Mystic and we always try to get this house because of its charming qualities, exceptional hosts that cater to the every need of the occupants. A short 6 minute walk to downtown where there are unique shopping experiences, delicious restaurants and so much to see and do! We love the fenced in backyard and quintessential charm of this amazing home! Thank you, yet again for another great experience at your prime location in Mystic!

Let me start by saying that I've never written an online review for anything before—not for a restaurant, a hotel, or even a book I've read. Once my friends and I stayed at this charming and cheerfully decorated home, we all agreed that we had to let others know that it's the place to stay in Mystic.
As soon as we walked through the door, we felt that we had entered the home of a dear friend or family member. We arrived fairly late, but the soft glow of the numerous lamps welcomed our weary group. The property was exactly as described and pictured in the listing, and Debbie checked in several times throughout the weekend to make sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay.
The beds are extremely comfortable. Sheets, blankets, and towels are plentiful. Although we didn't cook any meals in the kitchen, it's well appointed and contains everything a discerning gourmet could want. We took advantage of the tranquil backyard in the early evenings and unwound in the hammock and around the fire pit.
One final note: For anyone wondering, the restaurants on Water Street are certainly within walking distance from the house.
If it's not clear by now, we all loved the Captain Burrows Home and will undoubtedly stay here again on any future trip to the area.
Thank you, Debbie and Paul, for everything!

This is our second time staying. I cant say enough good things. The attention to detail is unreal. The house is beautifully kept with so much history! We love the antiques throughout. The location is also perfect. Its a quick walk into town. The outdoor area is lovely as well and we enjoyed evenings and early mornings outside. We hope to visit again soon.

We could not have asked for a more ideally located house for our family vacation in Mystic. It was wonderful to stay somewhere that felt like home, yet was only a 8-minute walk into town and just a 10-minute drive to nearly all area attractions. The Captain Burrows Home was cozy and well kept, full of interesting paintings and nautical antiques, and stocked with everything we could ever need on our trip. There was a full pantry and kitchen so we could cook dinner. There were even hotel toiletries, shampoo, and body wash in the main bathroom. The beds were very comfortable. My husband liked the pillows so much that he's researching where to buy one!
Debbie and Paul left so many thoughtful touches, including customized chalkboard messages, little chocolates and water by every bedside, and a delicious apple pie to welcome us upon our arrival. Our kids (ages 7 and 4) were delighted with multiple rooms and a shed, all chock full of toys. The dollhouse upstairs and boat sandbox in the backyard were huge hits. Debbie was highly communicative leading up to and during our visit -- she was the perfect host.
I would highly recommend the Captain Burrows House for any visit to Mystic. It exceeded our expectations in every respect and we can't wait to return.

We came to Mystic for a 2 night spring break getaway. The house was perfect and Debbie was the perfect hostess. The home is very close to the downtown we enjoyed the stroll to the downtown and there are plenty of shops and restaurants to stop at. The home was stocked with everything imaginable just bring yourselves and some snacks and drinks. I would not hesitate to staying in this home or exploring one of Debbie & Paul’s other properties again.

This was the perfect place for our family to get together. Since we don’t get together often, this little place was great to spend some real “family time”. I whole heartedly recommend this place and the hosts. The welcome effort from Debbie and Paul were a special touch to make us feel at home….and we did. Thank you again

I was recently in Mystic with my parents and dog for a long weekend of wedding planning and booked the Cpt Burrows Home. I arrived ahead of my parents in the evening and was blown away by the welcoming and cozy atmosphere. I felt at home right away. The house had everything we needed and more for a comfortable stay. We had dinner out one night, and cooked in the two other nights, and found the kitchen very well stocked with essentials. The bedrooms were comfortable and the neighborhood was quiet, so we slept great. The house is located only a short walk from town, so we enjoyed the peace and quiet of not being in the hustle and bustle, but also the ease of access to restaurants and shops. My dog loved the fenced in backyard and walks along the river. We were also in awe of all the care and effort the hosts had clearly put into interior design. The interior of the house is stunning and we greatly enjoyed the maritime theme. We have already booked a return visit!

The house was exactly what we were looking for with lots of room and excellent upkeep. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking supplies. The stove is top quality. Driveway had lots of room and back yard was well kept with nice design and lots of chairs for sitting around a fire pit. We loved our stay and clearly the owners care a lot about us having the best experience. Would absolutely come back to the same place again.

Fun, comfortable and immersed in local history! Enjoyed all the interesting and unusual period antiques and collectibles inside the house as much as the local area history. Hosts went out of their way to make you feel like you just walked into your own home from the soft music playing, welcome note and house lights lit to the fresh apple pie waiting and all other amenities a traveler might need (or forgot!). Shower pressure great and plenty of quality towels available. Immaculately clean home with lots of New England character. Hosts were very responsive to our questions about any topic (e.g. area woods to walk our dog, places to eat). The home had the most complete lobster-ware collection (pot, picks, crackers, big plates) of any house in which we have stayed; perfect for our own stay-in steamed lobster dinner. Outdoor fenced yard was perfect for our dog. Hammock was lovely to rest in, even in the cool February air!
Overall, we enjoyed the home's history, comfort and excellent hospitality all with the inclusion of today's necessary entertainment and work technology (e.g. smart TV, Google Space, USB connections in all the right places). We would definitely return to this house and these wonderful hosts if visiting the area again!

Old house with creaky floors and doors that don’t quite shut but very comfortable and interesting and about the best supplied house we have ever rented. Lots of towels, extra paper goods, plenty of coffee cartridges for the Keurig and we were greeted with an apple pie! Close to downtown mystic. Nice private backyard. Would definitely rent again.

We loved our stay here in Mystic. This host was very invested in making the stay an enjoyable one. The decor was amazing- we noted that it was like being able to stay over at both a very cool museum and designer showhouse all in one. My biggest compliment is that the house was super clean- really nicely kept, amazingly so with the level of design. And what an eye for color- beautiful throughout. Our pups adored the outdoor area and we actually chose take out to eat in the backyard as it was so pleasant. Excellent and intriguing all around!
