Not again!

I liked there price , but obviously expected reasonable accommodation and didn’t get it

Basic is an understatement. No tea/coffe in room Tiny weeny bathroom that could do with a deep clean No Tv that worked Breakfast I didn’t bother, left as soon as we could.

Barking hotel staff are very rude and unprofessional. I reserved a room on booking.com and received confirmation emails. When I got to the property (Barking Hotel), I was not allowed in. A male staff came outside to ask for my name in order to confirm the booking. He went into the hotel and came back shortly after stating they received the booking but he has to confirm the time of the booking. I showed him the emails I received. He had a look and went back into the hotel. Through the glass door, I could see him discussing with another male who I later realised was the manger and another male was listening in their conversation. It took a while. Then the manager came out with a pen and paper to write my name which the first staff already asked for. He went back into the hotel to supposedly check for a booking in my name but returned stating nothing was found. The confirmation emails were shown to him in addition with the booking reference and pin. Again he returned to the hotel to check for a long time and came back with the same response. He was very rude and racist. They were all Asians and left me and my family out in the cold in the middle of the night. They insisted they did not receive the confirmation and would not refund. When reminded the first staff confirmed he received the booking, he changed his testament stating it wasn't my booking that was received but "A" booking. I asked if they have a room we could book, they said no, they are fully booked. Then I contacted booking.com who confirmed the booking was sent to the hotel and advised they will call the hotel manager. After some minutes, booking.com confirmed he has spoken to the manager and we would be allowed entry. At this point the manager came out stating the booking was just received and we could come in. All of a sudden they have a spare room.

Money wasted!

It was close to the Barking train station and bus stop, making public transport quite easy.

The area is dangerous, especially at night. All my guests refused to visit me there due to the bad reputation of the hotel and the area! The acclaim of a 3-star hotel is grossly misleading. No desk and chair provided, despite my prior request. I asked for same upon arrival, the receptionist offered to bring one but never did or gave any feedback.....that was poor customer service!

Avoid this hotel

Hard to think about anything positive. Oh, yes: it's good that they don't serve breakfast.

Overheated room, not clean at all, lousy furniture, noisy. Toilet flush didn't work in the evening.

the room was overheating from the fridge being on, the air from outside the window was even hotter I woke up at 5am with a headache, the staff were rude about me going in and out with facial expressions, I asked if they had any water I was given a small cup but I was willing to pay for more

100/100 need a renewal of everything

The only thing clean it was the bed

The bathroom was full of mould, dirty walls, dirty floors, dirty curtains, all room was in bad shape + in the room persists a strong and strange smell. The shower small, dirty and old.

Pathetic hotel stay

I went downstairs and someone came to my room and took my goods out from my room and later the hotel staff said they were checking the empty rooms whereas i was already checked in. I did not understand their explanation and rather found it very offensive. If you are not safe in a hotel then why would you even pay for staying in a place where your things are taken out by the staff
