Great choice to stay for exploring the Cotswalds. It’s a former manor house converted to an elegant hotel and spa though there are some new rooms outside the main house. There is a lovely breakfast included. There are 2 restaurants on property but they have the same menu. Other food options are 10-15 minutes away. Our room was good sized with huge bathroom but rooms in the main house are varied from smaller to larger than ours.
Staff was attentive. Fun to talk to other guests who come from near and far.

Very nice grounds.
Very spa treatment.
Decent breakfast.
Room was big but didn’t feel luxurious and a bit of mold in the shower. A bit tired. e.g. curtain was hanging off last curtain hook.
Service didn’t really meet 5 star.
Dining experience wasn’t great. Took 15 mins to take dishes away.
Probably wouldn’t go again.

Very nice hotel and surroundings, food was good. Breakfast was very slow

Decent hotel/spa, high-end and pricey, but relatively poor and antiquated service. No need to go back, have now been

Very unique property and lovely setting ... as a historical property, they have done a nice job of combining the comforts of modern amenities while keeping within their historical requirements. Service was slightly below average, with some well-trained staff and others going through the motions. We stayed in the Lodge and we experienced a few issues.

The staff were welcoming and helpful without intruding on our special night at this amazing hotel. It was our 30th Wedding Anniversary and far above what we could normally afford. So, made all worthwhile by staff, rooms and food.

Very good evening meal, and helpful staff. But the hotel looks tired, and frankly not clean. Dust and dirty tables everywhere. I took the attached photo after "drawing' in the dust on the frame of the painting right next to our dining table. I didnt even have to rise from my seat to write in the dust.

It was a nice stay and the staff were very helpful. The place is unique and beautiful.

We stayed for 3 nights. Everything about our stay was 5 star. The hotel, setting, room, staff and breakfast were all excellent. We didn't eat dinner in the hotel so can't comment on the dining. Wonderful stay. thank you.
4.5
Stunning hotel with lovely staff who couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was the best. Very dog friendly and to have a beautiful room with a small patio area with private garden for the dog was amazing. Can highly recommend.

This was our favorite stay for our whole trip. The property is gorgeous, and every detail was perfect- the room was beautiful, the dinner and breakfast outstanding. We loved it and can’t wait to come back.

A beautiful hotel but not sure I would play the full price. The spa is nice but very small. The sauna was a bit faulty so was in and off and if there are more then a few of you then it's too full. If the spa was opened late this would be good but you could only use until 6. The breakfast was very very good and a good option for my wife who is veggie.

Stunning property, friendly and accommodating staff and incredible food!

The experience that I had at Ellenborough Park was mixed, some staff members are clearly so much better with their customer service levels than others. On the day of arrival the guy behind the desk wouldn’t engage with me at all, he just kept starring at my missus even when I struck conversation with him he looked at my missus and responded to her which I found very bizarre, I started to feel as though I was a ghost (or just a very rude man). Laura who was on reception Monday morning had superb customer service skills engaged with us both and gave us maps for things we might like to do.
Keeping on the topic of the first man he booked a taxi for us to get to our restaurant in the night time, first of all the guy was late and second of all he charged us £19 both ways for a restaurant that was 5 minutes away in the car. The hotel did deal with this though when we arrived back so I applaud them on that, but people should be careful as they clearly see people from out of town and think they can make a pretty penny!!
The hotel itself is a beautiful building but it could do with some refurbishment, the carpets are outdated and they’re many stains. The breakfast buffet and food for breakfast was lovely no complaints there, but the last thing I will say is the cleanliness of the pool was disgusting I’ve taken photos of cotton pads that were floating in the heated pool surely for a 5 star you would expect the place to be immaculate.. this sadly wasn’t the case.

Wonderful hotel and lovely location. Unfortunately I took ill on the day we were scheduled to stay and the hotel couldn’t confirm we could reschedule without loosing our money so we went anyway. We therefore didn’t enjoy our stay and barely ate anything so will have to return.

Beautiful hotel, lovely location outside Cheltenham and near major Cotswolds attractions. Friendly staff and good service. Excellent food. Spacious rooms.

Lovely grounds, poor service overall for a 5 star hotel

Poor service for the cost

We booked this hotel for our recent engagement, the hotel is beautiful. We were given complimentary glasses of champagne to celebrate our good news. The room was also very nice, with a 4-post bed, and a massive bathroom with a claw-footed bath and separate shower.
4.5
For an expensive 5 star hotel, we were not impressed. Our refrigerator was not turned on in our room, resulting in expensive cheese being ruined. We had to request multiple times to have the fridge turned on; even then, after it was turned on, we had to turn up the coolness ourselves so it could keep food items cold. In addition, our A/C emitted a horribly loud sound every 10-15 minutes. We reported this promptly to reception, and it was never fixed during our 6 night stay. Lastly, whenever we called reception or concierge - even during normal business hours - no one ever answered. No one told us about the other amenities of the hotel - afternoon tea, the bar, a room where there appeared to be drinks or light snacks. We felt like we weren’t treated as valued guests, even though we spent nearly a full week at the resort.
Some of the service staff, such as the spa receptionists and cleaning crew, were phenomenal. But EP is lacking the seamless service and standards of a five star hotel.
Other aspects of Ellenborough are beautiful and appreciated: the rich history, the grounds, the walking trails, the location. But for the price and reputation, it didn’t meet 5 star standards.
4.5
Gorgeous property.
There could be more attention to cleaning. The staff seemed rather overwhelmed by a wedding, with rather slow and harried service at times

This hotel was absolutely beautiful. It is such a special experience to stay in a castle that has so much history. The location was breathtaking and the service was incredible. We hope to be back soon!
4.5
Beautiful building in a beautiful location. Let down by customer service and things like a broken shower head in the room and jets in the spa hot tub not working.
Customer servicewise, the receptionist couldnt crack a smile, our coffees were forgotten at breakfast two days in a row and when we thought we were getting some good customer service we got charged for it! (The restaurant heard us talking about it being our mini moon and brought over two glasses of champagne which werent requested by us but then they added them to our bill!)
4.5
Amazing beautiful place with wonderful staff. Great breakfast. Book the spa in advance, if you want to get a massage. They also have electric vehicles charging stations, which was very very helpful!

The hotel is lovely however not quite worth the money for a suite. We went back after dinner and our room was freezing cold and took ages to turn all the radiators on to warm it up. It was then too hot in the night and I had to get up and turn off. The fridge was not working so the dog food I put in was ruined. I was told it was dog friendly but then kept getting asked about where I was going with the dog like I was doing something wrong. Also you have to go outside to go from hotel to both the pool and spa which isn’t great when raining and cold. However my son loved a big bubble bath in the roll too bath!!

Fundamental bones of the hotel are excellent, beautiful buildings and stunning views.
However, the shocking level of service really brings this hotel down.
- sulky reception staff
- lots of staff working, with everything taking an age to arrive
- waiting at the bar for 15 minutes before a member of staff arrived
- food took over an hour to arrive
- had to sit in the overspill area for breakfast, which didn’t have the same experience for breakfast and meant a walk through the reception to bring food back and forth
- check in took over 30 minutes and 20 minutes queue for check out
- spa and gym amenities do not open until 1020, which frankly is utterly ridiculous for a 5 star hotel. People like to exercise before having breakfast and is often the busiest time for hotel gyms
- laughable that service was applied to every order e.g 20% on top for each cocktail after having the luxury of waiting an age to arrive
- staff wouldn’t clean our table, they would come and collect a single plate and then not return for 15mins when they collected another plate when four of us were eating.
- coffees at breakfast were ordered and then forgotten. When the staff noticed they just they would put another order through but no apologies

My husband and I have just returned from Ellenborough Park and it was such an amazing hotel! The history is incredible and the attention to detail in the restoration of the property is perfect. It was a birthday celebration and we were upgraded to a beautiful room with the largest bathroom I have ever seen! We started the trip with afternoon tea in the Great Hall which was very good. My only slight negative was the cups were not bone china and we were kept waiting to be seated. We ordered champagne which came in a metal cooler and placed on the table with very plain cheap glasses so not making it feel very special although it was delicious! The afternoon tea food was very good! Unfortunately the bar area was not very inviting although the bar staff were lovely. We then had a lovely walk around the grounds and fields beyond including a lake with a pair of resident swans. Dinner we had booked in the horse box restaurant but were transferred to the main restaurant. It had been extremely busy and the staff were a little flustered. This was our only negative of the whole trip otherwise it would have been a 10. There was no ambience to the dressing of the tables and when offered water it was not chilled. The food presentation was very poor and my husbands steak was not good. After a wonderful nights sleep in our amazing room breakfast the next morning was great! We will definitely revisit but would probably not choose to eat dinner at the hotel.

I liked its sense of charm, location and wasnt too busy. The service generally was good, but I had to chase a couple of time for drink/food. Also was surprised with the lack of cleanliness for a 5* hotel. It wasnt quite the standard I was expecting, it was just ok.
4.5
An amazing place - great history, fruendly staff & some stunning walks out of the main gate.
Great place to atay.
4.5
The property is beautiful, but the disappointing spa facilities . The jacuzzi had tiles coming off, the sauna and steam are soo small. The check in at 3pm and spa shuts at 6pm, open at 10am and you have to checkout at 11, so you only get a window of few hours ti to use the spa. They won’t allow you to use the spa after checkout, like many other hotels allow. The heating wasn’t working in one of the rooms . Not upto the standard of the hotel I was expecting , disappointment.

Jonathan was informative and entertaining . Told us a lot about the buildings history and made our stay a real treat.

Meal in the restaurant was outstanding. Staff and service was excellent.

A beautiful setting and building full of character. Spacious room but needs to do more to be a true 5 star. Bathroom very basic with shower head over the bath. No heated towel rails or shower caps provided. Mirror so low we couldn’t use for seeing anything above chest height. Good breakfast although poached eggs over cooked and staff struggling to keep up with busy period.

Atmospheric with beautiful interior.

The hotel was lovely. The staff were very friendly. The pool was excellent which the children loved. I had an issue with an additional charge that I needed to discuss and I haven’t yet had the call back as promised.
