Took 15 minutes to check in at an understaffed reception. Bedroom was like a sauna.

It was a lovely little getaway the only problem I could say is be careful when walking around the stairs as staff chuck pillows down the stairs

A good stay for a business trip. Friendly staff, comfortable room, good gym and nice breakfast, all thats needed!

We stayed for 2 nights, on first impressions the outside looks a bit dated but reception looked more modern inside, check in was easy and the receptionist was polite and friendly
I’ll start with negatives first:
We booked a privilege room with lake view, I think calling it a lake view is a push as you could barely see it, the room was a bit old fashioned and there were burn marks on the carpet, the toilet roll holder was broken, hardly any tv channels worked, and the only plug socket by the bed didn’t work, the walls are thin and we could here the tv from the next room, the windows are single glazed and only one of these opened
We had a meal in the restaurant on the 2nd night and for the price would have expected a more, the manager I assume as he was the only one in a suit, had to find menus for us as he didn’t have any, and there was no drinks menu so has to ask the waitress what was available, we were not offered water even though other tables were, and the service was slow and staff not as helpful or friendly
Now for the positives:
All the staff were very polite, friendly and helpful, especially the gentleman on reception on our 2nd night, who’s name I unfortunately didn’t get, but he could not do enough, he was great
The breakfast was excellent, with a great selection and the staff were amazing
Even though I wasn’t impressed with the service and staff with our meal, the food was good
Overall staff were very good but a bit more TLC and modernisation needed elsewhere

Enjoyed our stay although there was a private function meaning the bar was off limits. The room was very nice, a very big bed and plenty of pressure in the shower.

A marked improvement in service delivery from the last time I stayed here during pre-covid days. It is in walking distance from the Leeds Castle View Restaurant, which is well worth a visit.

Hotel a little run down but the basics were fine. Extraordinary decor in places! Evening meal a disappointment. Bar noisy and uncomfortable. Pie was OK but my warm Asian ald was cold. I was told that there were no noodles so vegetables would be substituted. This turned out to be huge chunks of less-than-fresh broccoli, tough and inedible. Whoever was in the kitchen was obviously unengaged and had never tried to eat large chunks of raw broccoli! CAn't give more than three stars for this reason.

Needs a tidy up and a lick of paint, very tired and dated.
Dinner service was over an hour, which was disappointing.

Stayed only 1 night. Wouldn’t again.. after a lovely dinner with great staff at the onsite restaurant we decided to take the stairs up to our room on the 3rd floor. There were bouncer type men asking where we were going and they demanded to see our room key before being allowed on the 3rd floor. When in our room the music was loud (but acceptable) but then the loud arguing and what sounded like physical fighting started. I locked the door and put our bags by the door and laid awake scared for hours. In the morning at check out I complained but no one contacted me. If you value your sleep and want to feel safe do not stay here. I’m pretty sure the police came but I was too scared to look out of the windows. Go anywhere else!

We had a so tough stay throughout the night due to the poor wall and noisy voice and sound. The guys came knocking the door speaking. My family felt scary and unsafe there. We'll never visit you.

Staff were very friendly, evening food ok, excellent breakfast with loads of choice. My room was very near to the swimming pool and was uncomfortably warm with a very strong smell of chlorine. Not very pleasant to breathe in all night.

Dinner well you can’t call it that it’s all pre frozen rubbish

Lovely one night stay at the Great Danes Hotel. Room very comfortable and lovely breakfast. Staff were excellent, all very helpful.
Conditon of hotel looked slightly worn, but good place to stay overall.

Mercure Maidstone did not fulfill my booking so had to find an alternative at the last minute despite having a confirmation from Hotels.com, which when travelling with children was appalling. Hotel were unhelpful and blamed Hotels.com. Poor service and I can only assume the Mercure had overbooked.

Would have been a great stay, but the following ruined the experience:
1. No air-con: the room was very, very hot and couldn't sleep.
The little fan was noisy and sadly couldn't cool down the room.
2. Please replace the old shower curtains and put shower screens instead. Unpleasant to shower with shower curtain clinging to my skin.
3. Room outdated- curtains torn and room require so much tlc.
3. Room and bathroom not very clean , brown stuff coming off the sink , dust on windowsill and bedside tables.
4. Cleaners need to check cupboards and wardrobes to ensure previous guests have not left anything as they was dirty unwanted stuff left by previous guests- not nice at all.
Great parking and location though.

The room itself was very hot as there is no air conditioning, as such we had to have the window open all night to cool the room down. The mattress was also very hard which meant that I did nt have a comfortable sleep. The key card failed twice and we had to return to reception to re-authorise the card to gain access to our room. The car parking was free to hotel users , which was a plus, The breakfast was ok but it was a buffet style which meant that the food was under heaters and some had started to become hard, especially the eggs.
For a one night stay this was acceptable. The staff were welcoming and helpful.

Hotel is very dated and overpriced.
Room was small and hot wirh no aircon. Room clean but very run down.
Staff at reception rude and insisted on a sharp 3pm check in unless i joined the loyalty scheme.
Breakfast was good and staff were very friendly.

don't think i would rush back.. was there 5 days no change of towels bin not emptied had no shower gel for 3 days coffe cups not cleaned or changed food in restaurant was terrible but on a positive the breakfast and restaurant staff very friendly reception not so friendly

No complaints about the comfort, customer service and the hotel itself. Only thing I would suggest is that there is some type of climate control in the rooms, a fan at least because it was super super hot in the room

Breakfast was lovely good choice. Room was very warm a bit to hot.

Great food, great staff. Moved me to a really nice room with view because they had one. Nothing too much trouble. Definitely would stay again.

I rang ahead as I knew I’d be late to arrive. The lady on the phone was very bubbly, polite and most of all; helpful!
When I got to the hotel, the nights team were cleaning the reception area but rushed to assist me through the doors.
The gentleman behind reception was very knowledgeable about local traffic and the best routes to take for my onward journey and even gave me a complimentary breakfast voucher as I didn’t know if I’d booked breakfast or if it was included or not.
Don’t get me wrong, the decor is dated in places BUT it is clean and the beds are very comfortable!

Great place to stay, comfortable room, pool was great (when no under maintenance) breakfast was fantastic and open early.
Evening food was not brilliant for the price, but their is plenty of options else where, also the room could have been cleaner.

Couldnt check in till bang on 3. Then noticed a piece of paper on the desk informing swimming pool closed but was told will definitely be open tomorrow, but again was shut! We only choose this hotel as we love the pool! Went for our evening meal, starters were poor, not much choice for main meals, then one dessert was meant to include strawberries and raspberries, but it had frozen strawberries, black currants and black berries it was very bitter. The whole service took 2 hour's even though restaurant wasnt that busy! So disappointed, we were regular visitors here but now will need to find alternative hotel

The hotel was great, the room was large with a great view of the grounds and lake, even had a hot air balloon experience taking off from the grounds which was brilliant to see, the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The breakfast buffet had plenty of options and was good quality, nice bar area including outdoor seating.
hotel was in a great location with leeds castle very close by and multiple country pubs within a 10 minute drive

Hotel very dated - but the breakfast was good

My partner and i stayed here for bank holiday weekend. Where i did a surprise proposal to her, the staff were a great help in setting this up for me and recording it. Every member of staff were so friendly and helpfull. We also ate breakfast twice and dinner here once. Food was great all very tasty and reasonably priced.

Nice time but a bit tired. Could do with a refurb but nice time there

Had to ask to change rooms as walls so thin I could hear next door room and room was not the best quality for price. New room was much better but shouldn't have to ask

Nice to stay in a proper hotel and not a premier inn.

When we arrived and were heading to bed after long journey found Bed linen was dirty with stains, blood , human hair, grit and rips. Manager came and replaced covers whilst we waited I our pyjamas. Whole process took over 1hr. Carpets filthy requested it be hoovered next day as cud not be moved as other room available was on side of building without lift which was not possible with my disability. Hotel is not disabled friendly. Majority of rooms I was told have bath showers so again not disabled friendly. Food was not good. On the positive side. Staff are really nice and friendly

I stayed here to make use of the spa which was good. Looks a little tired for the outside, and your standard Mercier look inside. I stayed in a standard double which was a descent size but had a rather large gap under the room door and you could hear plenty from the hall way and snoring from other rooms in my vicinity. Especially other doors being slammed on the same floor.

I will recommend it. Very nice location and services. Thanks

This family run budget hotel is in need of refurbishment. The bar and restaurant furniture looks tired and very unfashionable . The staff tried their best to provide s good service but it did not surpass adequate. I shall not be visiting the hotel again.

We had a lovely stay this weekend staff were excellent especially the young girl that served us at dinner , reception staff very friendly and helpful . Only issue is that the family room we stayed in had a high pitched whistling noise from somewhere outside which disturbed our sleep but it soon stopped . Would recommend
