Great. A shame about the noisy neighbours

Stay was okay. Clean bed surprisingly warm room seeing as there was a window panel missing. Shower was not great. Expensive for the price of £179 for a night

Th hotel is a bit noisy and the walls are thin so not great for sleep

Overall:
Certainly the nicer of the two Britannias in Manchester, though that isn't saying a whole lot. The room was a decent size for one person and the location is well-situated in the Northern Quarter near just about anywhere you would want to go.
Pros:
• Full-sized bath tub
• Roomy
• Working area / desk
Cons:
• Walls are a bit thin
• Situated on a busy back alley, so it gets noisy outside on the weekends
• WiFi pricing is extortionist ($7 per device per day!)
• The lamps are so big that your left with little room on tables and desks
• No room service

Very comfortable stay. Clean and quiet room. We would definitely return.

Ideal hotel for a 1 or 2 night stay but not sure how I’d feel about a longer stay. It was a little chilly in the room when we first arrived but there was a small plug in radiator which warmed the room up enough, there was also an extra blanket if we needed it.
If you need to plug in a few devices on your stay I’d definitely recommend bringing an extension as there aren’t many plug sockets to start, and then we realised half of them were different to standard UK plugs.
A recommendation for the hotel if it possible is to look at the lighting in windowless rooms as there is one main light above the door and 3 lamps that are all warm lights. Then the bathroom light is blinding white, which wasn’t ideal when I woke my partner up turning the light on, as it shines right into where the bed is. There isn’t much option for just having a very low light that’s enough to make your way around without being blinded.
Overall hotel itself was lovely, entrance was on a back road, so I’d say solo travellers should stay aware of their surroundings if entering/leaving late but security guard was very friendly which put us at ease. Really nicely decorated reception with bars and restaurant on site

Awful check in, so slow & in efficient. It took 15 minutes & a half dozen print outs to check in.

The room requires several maintenance

The central heating didn’t work plus there was a constant knocking sound at night.

Convenient location and a fine room for the price. Heat didn’t work but I found a portable unit in the closet and was a suitable replacement. No free wifi in the room and limited tv channels.

Location is the only good thing about this place as it’s not too far from Manchester Piccadilly. It’s just very outdated (expired even)

Good price for a night. Room was really clean and tidy and bigger than expected, so great for the price. Decor is a little dated but for the price I didn’t mind at all. Was only there to sleep for the night!

Check in was a shambles!
I made a booking for 2 adults and was aware that I needed photo ID but, nowhere was it mentioned that ID is required for all members of the party.
Luckily the receptionist accepted my partners credit card as ID.
Room was a great size, everything I needed although the bathroom floor was a bit iffy.
Breakfast was great.

When we arrived we both had to produce photo ID no idea why we booked and paid online we had to pay £1.20 city tax no problem apart from they don’t take cash so wanted a card their machine was faulty and declined twice then had to get another machine loads we’re having the same issues checking in and still refused cash on line said double bed and single in the room they only have single twin rooms when we got to the floor the smell of paint hit you as you got out the lift as we got to the room opened the door there was sheets hung over all the doors and a woman with a roller appeared saying not that room went back to reception manager made us stand at the end and wait then sent us back to the room with a woman then told they had no other rooms this room cost £87 the room was cold couldn’t shut the window slats could here people till around 3am then they were emptying bins at 5.15am then the deliveries start at 6am all under our room so no sleep what so ever

Given the price of the room, I was sure there was going to be a catch, but there really wasn't. I had a very pleasant stay and the breakfast (which cost extra) was excellent value for money. If I have one small criticism, it's that I suspect the coffee at breakfast was instant (or, if it wasn't, it wasn't very nice). I'd be the first to admit that I'm a coffee snob though and there are plenty of places nearby where you can pick up a decent coffee, so that certainly wouldn't stop me coming back. Thank you all!

This hotel should be renamed Faulty Towers. Has to be one of the worst hotels we've ever stayed in but it's that bad it's actually hilarious. It's run down and in bad need of renovations or at least decorating. We checked in amid another customer complaining that their heating didn't work in their room and neither did their room phone. Another couple were offered the upgrade of £10...they asked what the upgrade got them an the answer was "a window". We paid a little extra for an "executive double"...that meant windows were as standard and we also got a raised lounge area. We went in the bathroom and thought we'd just got out of our flux capacitor as the decor was something from the 70s. The shower had all the power of a drip too. The bed was actually comfortable when you navigated the springs correctly. All in all, it gave us loads of laughs but if you want something of similar standard, rent a tent.

I booked the executive room and was very underwelmed window had faulty lock that left a draft coming in.
The hotel is fully cashless which was specified before booking and staff were very abrupt regarding payment.
In general the hotel looked old but you could see it had been through some kind of refurbishment.

Issues with getting a working phone & iron but resolved to our satisfaction after a couple of back and too conversations. Rooms are no frills but clean and comfortable. Warning! rooms with no windows are extremely warm and not great if you're a fan of fresh air. Location is great for getting to shops etc - felt safe and ideal for a night out where you just need a bed that's comfy and clean. wouldn't recommend it for a romantic break. check in process was long winded for what should be an easy stay for one night as they had my details already from the hotels.com site. having to provide ID for both of us was a pain!

Room smells bad, I understand they allow pets to stay. Bathroom was not clean found hair within the bathtub plus mold.
Asked if water was ok to drink from tap, was informed it was up to me. Not all rooms have windows, need to pay extra for this.
Had little choice as bookedast minute, but will avoid in future visits.

My expectations were low given the review score, but I was pleasantly surprised and thought the hotel was great value for money. The hotel is a little dated but clean and comfortable and had everything I needed in a hotel on a city break - hot shower, comfy bed, hairdryer… staff were friendly and helpful and the location was great- less than ten mins walk from the main coach station where i arrived and departed from and i loved the area overall - lots of cute independent bars and restaurants in the little streets around it and lots of great street art too. The only thing worth mentioning is to maybe avoid booking the windowless rooms in summer as they’re very warm! I raised this with reception straight away to see if they could cool the room somehow and they kindly moved me to a room with.a window instead. But overall I thought it was great value for money given the price point and would definitely stay there again.

Check in was bad, large cue of people waiting and the receptionist left to go serve someone in the bar, lots of unhappy people waiting far to long

For the price of 1 night for a gig in Manchester, it was a safe bed to sleep in. But the interior of the rooms needs some work. It’s not fancy or pretty, it’s functional. The lobby has a chandelier, comparatively the hotel room bathrooms have lino flooring from the 90s and fuchsia coloured walls. They’ve spent money on the first impression, but the rooms leave something to be desired. Again, for the price, it does what it says on the tin, you have somewhere to sleep. Beds were comfortable enough, everything was relatively clean, the shower worked. OH and no guest WiFi, so sad.

We had the cheapest type of room without window. We arrived at the hotel and realized that the carpet was wet. We didn't do anything about it right away because we had to hurry out. When we came back we saw that the carpet was still wet and there was a funghy type of smell in the room. I notified the hotel staff at this point and he argued that the carpet was soaking wet because of cleaning and offered us a late check out as reperation...
The room was extremely hot all night and had very little to no air circulation despite the AC ducs making a lot of noise.
They had a security guard through the night, which helped on the fact that it is located in a kind of dodgy area

This is a fairly basic option in the centre of town. I suspect it’s popular with groups, which is why they’re so keen to get ID before checkin and there’s talk of damage to property being chargeable!
The room - described as “executive” - was very basic. The bed was ok but decoration left much to be desired. No toiletries aside from a soap dispenser on the wall over the bath. Breakfast was basic to put it politely. Definitely no frills but at this price, what do you expect?

When I got to the hotel with my daughter to check in they asked for photo id for myself which I provided then asked for my photo proof of my daughter ( they didn’t ask that in confirmation email). Luckily they accepted her school picture on her school app. We stayed in a twin room without windows which didn’t bother us as we just wanted somewhere to get our heads down after a concert then a day of shopping the day after. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

Check out is very early 10 am, and they charge 10 pounds to extend for one hour!
The hotel is walking distance to the city center.

We stayed here for 1 night, on walking down the street to arrive at the property we noticed a group of me who seemed to be taking/dealing some sort of drug. We entered the hotel and staff were very welcoming and friendly. We were allocated our room on the 5th floor and made our way to it. On entering the room we noticed it was very dark and dated with only 3 laps for light not included the bathroom light of course. I payed an extra £15 on booking for the executive double room which ensured we had a window as reviews said basement rooms were boiling. Well the window we was allocated was tiny, no view from it at all. This room was definitely not worthy the £175 per night we paid for it. As we left the hotel to go out the alley way adjacent to the hotel was aligned with people who had been quite clearly taking drugs which made me very nervous to return later that evening which resulted in me cutting our night short.

I have stayed at this hotel several times. Three visits back I upgraded from a non window room to window room, It was horrendous. I got little or no sleep because of the construction work and loud talking going on all night . My second last visit I had a room without a window and while the air vent was very loud I did get sleep, On this last visit I also had a room without a window, There was no noise from the vent and frankly the heat of the room was over powering and certainly not healthy. I will be reluctant to book again until winter time
