We were really disappointed considering the price.
There was not even hand lotion in the bathroom. If you had a bath, you have to stand up to reach the soap, shampoo dispenser.
We had dinner in the dungeon which is expensive. The waiter that initially served us just about dumped everything on the table. The waitress that brought our food was sniffing continuously in your ear whilst dressing the food. We ordered 3 of the same meal. One had so much sauce the food looked like it was in soup. My husbands had quite a lot of sauce and mine had hardly any. We had to ask them to bring some sauce for my husband and I.

Got there at 11pm. No one in reception so had to hunt him down. Nobody behind the bar so no drinks.
Would I stay there again .. Absolutely
Just a great place to be.
4.3
Amazing experience. Especially enjoyed having drinks in the library, visiting with the falconer, relaxing in the spa, and dinner in the dungeon. Worth every penny!!

Not enough dining options

was really looking forward to the night here. great dinner but too expensive. room was nothing special for staying in a castle. uncomfortable beds. breakfast is only complimentary with beads, coffee, etc. we used the spa facilities which my daughter loved. would not stay here again because it’s not that special.

It was great

This is the real castle deal!
We were thrilled be allocated room 4 in the large turret of the castle. A red four postered bed themed room with all the glory of days gone by. The bathroom was located down a narrow hallway near the door to the room and that made for some fun too! It felt really special! The ghost of Lady Catherine sadly didn't visit us and we slept like babies. Dinner in the dungeon was sensational and drinks before and after in the lounge rounded off the night. Brekkie was fab and the staff were super helpful from go to woah! Now that's a castle stay!
4.3
An impressive castle building which makes use of many different rooms. Feels like you are able to explore inside and out. Twin castle bedroom was very disappointing though with damaged / stained furniture. Bathroom had serious issues - broken shower head, blocked drain and seized hot water tap. Nowhere near the standard expected for the price paid. Food and some staff ok, lacking the refinement and quality for a 4* rating (or 5* as the board at the entrance claims!)
4.3
Lovely visit to the hotel. Certain areas like the bathroom could maybe do with a bit of an update

It was nice. Our room didnt have a castle feel because it was drywall and tiles, but the grounds were lovely, The food was great and most the staff were lovely.
It also had a nice little spa that was complimentary.
We had a view of the dumpsters which would have been nice if they covered it up, but its out in the country which is nice.
If you dont like stairs, maybe not the best place for you.
If youre looking for a nice getaway, its a cute little place. If you want to feel like youre sleeping in a castle, might not be the best place.

This was a trip of a lifetime and wanted to stay in a castle for couple days and this place was hands down amazing so friendly, it’s quiet and clean. Looking forward to being back
4.3
The castle itself is fantastic, and our room was brilliant. Unfortunately we were left disappointed though as it was booked as a birthday present, mostly for the Spa, which was mostly closed off. Plus in the morning it was closed all together due to work being done. We weren’t told about this prior to booking, and no offer of refund was offered.

This castle is amazing, the staff is wonderful and the rrooms are huge and very comfortable.

From the drive up at night we saw Dalhousie in its splendour. What can I say about the Magnificent Dalhousie Castle. All the Staff from front of house to waiting staff and the spa were outstanding. The Spa was magical, we booked in advance and would highly recommend the coconut head massage and back neck & shoulder massage. We came out feeling totally relaxed. Our room was so beautiful four poster room and my fiancee cried when she saw it. The room was huge and spotlessly clean. The grounds are stunning & the Falconry and archery are a must for any visitor to the castle. we will 100 percent be going back. Breakfast was so delicious and set your up for the day. Thankyou so much Dalhousie Castle for the most fabulous 4 night stay we have ever had. Keep doing what you are doing and we will definitely see you again. 10/10

We had an amazing time at Dalhousie! Everything about the property was unique from drinks in the Sir Alexander Room to the Dungeon Restaurant to the breakfast in the Orangery, we had a great time!
4.3
An amazing Castle restored to a fantastic standard in a superb setting.
Well worth a visit.
4.3
Incredible location, lovely staff. Slightly faded glamour, but still a delightful stay.
The bedrooms got toasty warm but the communal spaces (library, bar) were a bit too chilly.

Every second on property feels amazing.

Loved the hotel and experience we had

Fantastic country side that s close to Edinburgh by car!! Absolute beautiful setting and the staff team were amazing!!! This is great value for a get away but within distance to enjoy the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh city
4.3
Brilliant and everything you could want from a castle stay. History, character and beauty.
We had an amazing time. Very helpful staff and very welcoming.
4.3
When we arrived the gentleman gave us a tour of the castle even thought we arrived late. It was amazing . We were so excited we could hardly get to sleep!
4.3
The staff were ok as were the common areas. We paid for a “honeymoon suite” and it was anything but. Other than the bed the rest of the decor could be found in a skip. The bathroom was from ikea as were a-lot of fixings. The carpet was rough and lots of stains on walls. Hairs in bath and the two robes provided were still wet and stained with what was hopefully tea. The breakfast was fine in the orangery. Overall a let down for the price paid. I’d possibly recommend it at half the price.
4.3
We loved our stay at the castle. Especially loved eating dinner in the Orangery. The food was exceptional. While it wasn't a problem for our group we did watch a disabled woman try to go up the stairs because there was no elevator. Maybe there should be something in the listing so accommodations could be made to put those needing it on the first floor.
4.3
Obviously beautiful outside, we stayed in the Mary Queen of Scott’s suite. It was the last night of our honeymoon and we shared that prior to arrival with the staff… so we were pretty disappointed that no effort was make to help make it special. Dinner was grossly expensive and honestly not exceptional to justify it.

My sisters stayed here last year, and highly recommended it. We were not disappointed. The castle is beautiful. Even though it has been converted into a luxury hotel, it still feels like a castle, which is what we were looking for. We booked one night in a four poster room, and one in the Honeymoon Suite, but upon check in, discovered they had upgraded our accommodations to the Honeymoon Suite for both nights as an Anniversary gesture. Staff was amazing. Breakfast was delicious. Lovely stay!

Nice old house

Beautiful property—-was excited to stay in an actual Scottish castle. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
4.3
The castle was beautifully restored. I could have spent my entire trip sitting in the Library and the Sir Alexander room. The Dungeon dinner was a wonderful and delicious experience.
We were glad breakfast was included in our stay as we found the pricing excessive for breakfast and lunch in The Oragery.
Climbing 102 stairs to our rooms was a bit much for my 73year old mother, we were glad for the seats on the landings.

I booked the hotel to have an experience in a castle. I had that experience and that's about all I can say. My shower didn't work like it was supposed to and made a complete mess while I didn't feel like I got clean. I told the attendant and after looking at it, they simply said they would note it. There was a lack of outlets for charging and even for plugging in a hairdryer - nowhere near a mirror; I had to unplug something to be able to charge my phone. The breakfast was so-so at best and I was questioned when I specifically asked for decaf coffee. The staff I encountered were mostly rude and obnoxious, except for 1 person when I arrived. I am so glad I only booked 1 night.

We loved this castle hotel! It's so beautiful! We stayed in the lodge. Nice big suites! We had dessert and drinks in the Dungeon Restaurant. The atmosphere was special. The drinks and dessert were delicious and reasonable. The breakfast was wonderful and filling. The staff was helpful and attentive. We were disappointed that the spa facilities weren't functioning. Would highly recommend this wonderful place to everyone!
4.3
This is a nice hotel, but it’s not a 4 star experience. Rooms and facilities are tired, and not quite as expected.
Avoid a ‘cottage’ room - totally separate from the castle in a modern building, giving basic B&B vibes rather than the castle atmosphere.
Also, try and find out if there’s a wedding at the castle when you’re staying. It looks like a good venue, but if you’re not part of the wedding you’ll find some areas are off limits and the only bar area is taken over by the wedding reception.
On the plus side, the food is good - particularly in the Dungeon restaurant.
4.3
It was a perfect little get away! We loved it! The food was spectacular and the grounds were beautiful.
4.3
It was absolutely lovely. My only concern was that our room was the very top room in the castle with over 60 steps. There was no lift, but they did carry up the bags.
4.3
Marvelous place for a getaway. Beautiful and peaceful
4.3
Excellent hotel and would definitely go back again. Only two thing’s disappointed me. The first my child wasn’t allowed into the Spa, and the second they forgot to book me an early morning taxi to the airport. Almost caused me to miss my first flight of the day. Apart from that perfect and great good.
4.3
Unique experience to live in this 800 year old castle, plus the very comfortable and spacious room. It's fun to explore the castle and its library. We also love the dinner and breakfast. The trails around the castle are perfect for after meal walks.
4.3
Lovely location, great staff. Room was comfy and breakfast delicious. Recommended.

We had a very nice stay!!
