This property could be a goldmine. A hotel on its own island! Come on now! However, this is not the case and property is in desperate need of a whole renovation. Personally, I feel it should be demolished and rebuilt. Staff was very nice. BBQ food was very good along with bar. Unfortunately, because of how run down and dumpy the entire property is, we immediately checked out next day. If owner ever decides to rebuild or do a major overhaul of property, we would consider going back. However, if it stays like this, NEVER AGAIN! It is a real shame. We were really looking forward to staying there.

Love the place rooms need work but its paradise

It's location is like a Beach Resort, but cheaper. I enjoyed the Karaoke Night on Tuesday. The Beach is not crowded and the sand was fun to walk on. I got one fresh coconut that fell from its tree near where I was sitting and the "Handyman" Mr. Oscar, helped to cracked it open; I enjoyed the coconut milk and the flesh. The room was clean with supplies of coffee/pot, cutleries, iron/board, air dryer, etc. But the Bed was too soft and sinking a little bit. I didn't complain because my room was on Ocean View and I thought to change might put me out of the View.

was not informed prior to stay that pool not available, housekeeping every other day, deposit required upon arrival and still waiting for refund a week later

The room is very outdated.
The iguanas are like stray cats as soon as you open the balcony door, two iguanas were already sitting out there, looking at us on the brick and then when we stepped out onto the balcony three more Iguanas popped out from the bushes and two rushed us on the deck waiting for food. That was so we just first got in the room. I had called the front desk to see if we can get in the room but she said all the third floor was booked so we had to stay in that room. We just didn’t go on the balcony anymore. Even when we opened the curtain they would come to the balcony or watch you from the bricks waiting for us to give them something if we close the curtains for a couple hours they would eventually leave, but we made a game out of it.

What I liked, beach, convenient ferry rides, & very spacious. The room we were given shouldn't have been given to anyone in its condition. Thats why i rates the staff a 3, the work that needs to be done is blatantly obvious. While I could have complained upon check in, we didn't. We were exhausted, and figured, if this is what they gave us, the odds of a better unit probably didn't exist. I did let the front desk know upon check out.

We love the beach, very friendly people on the island

The view from the room was the best part, waking up and hearing the water was mesmerizing. This place could use some updating but the accommodations were doable for 1 night.

I like that's a little island away from everything but the beach ⛱️ is just steps away from your room.I love my view of the water and Gallows bay.I like the fact that they evacuated us safely before the storm into a waiting hotel.
I didn't like that the sliding door does not securely close, it's weather worn.

Hotel on the Cay in St. Croix offers a fantastic stay with friendly and accommodating staff. The convenient boat shuttle to the island ensures minimal wait times. The island's beach is well-maintained, the drinks at the bar are excellent, and the food is outstanding. Highly recommended for a great island getaway.

Such a unique experience! Catching a little feery boat off of the Christiansted boardwalk to travel over to Protestant Cay. The beach is small bit beautiful, and perfect for relaxing and swimming and snorkeling with the kids. Clean rooms with efficiency kitchens but no extra frills. We came with the intention of being out on the beach except to shower and sleep. Small outdoor bar, small BBQ cookout stand. Staff were kind, respectful, and helpful. No other dining options. We took the ferry back to the boardwalk in the evenings to get dinner. Perfect for a low-key stay for 2 nights before heading to the northern coast of the island. Make sure you arrive by ferry before 8pm to check-in/get room keys, as the office closes at 8pm.

The people working there were Great...but the property is in need of MAJOR work. Looking out of our room there was a beautiful view of the beach and ocean which was ruined by the GREEN pool and the smell of the stagnant water....and I mean smell. The sliding doors needed to be closed all the time because of the smell. I must say that the bathroom was clean and they supplied many clean towels for both the bathroom and beach. Whoever owns the place is just getting by without any input/improvements. I must give a compliment to the air-conditioning...it was awesome. The water pressure in the shower was non-existent and the water was barely warm. The location was great and the shuttle back and forth to the boardwalk was also very good...one of the captains(Jason) of the shuttle was absolutely awesome and he went out of his way to help and answer any questions to make your stay/time be more enjoyable. The owner(s) need to make improvements to the resort....because what they charged to stay there for 10 days was NOT worth it.

It was located well but it needed a lot of updates. The pool was closed and twe killed some roaches. So really needs an update.

This property is falsely advertised on your site. The hotel is literally falling apart from the tiles, railing, sidewalks, motes, pool and bar. Standing water in the motes surrounding the lobby was disgusting. There was no parking on site, guests had to ferry out to the hotel after struggling to find parking in town. The pool has been closed for years, so the website pictures are very old and misleading. There was very low water pressure in the shower which made it difficult to get clean. A dropped, dirty sock was laying on the sidewalk outside the office for days before it was picked up. Poor guest services. Expedia and Hotel on the Cay need to update the pictures of the hotel so potential guests’ vacations are ruined . Will not trust Expedia again.

The staff was amazing Ryan the boat driver from the mainland to the island was extremely helpful with dining options and expertise around the boardwalk. Renae in the lobby was the best and her customer service was top notch. Will most definitely come back. The store on the island has some stuff. Girls if you need feminine products be sure to bring some couldn’t find anything around the area or the island. FYI overall very satisfied with this hotel and stay

Let’s start with check in. We didn’t get the rooms promised. The young girl at check in was quite rude when I told her Ms. Decker (in an email I had) gave us two 3rd floor rooms. she said, “the rooms have already been assigned.” She couldn’t care less that we were there or paying customers and pretty much just ignored my request completely. (Maybe she’s not a regular there as I never saw her again).
The other ladies at the front after check in, later in the day, and the next few days, seemed very nice. All other employees at hotel seemed very friendly and kind. Housekeeping did a nice job. The rooms, however, are not nice. Not even a little bit. The shower curtain smelled horrific. The water pressure was about zero. You can hear everything in adjacent rooms. The only plus, is the bed and pillow were somewhat comfy.
The bartender women were very rude, more interested in doing shots and helping their friends than helping paying customers. So we went to the grocery and got our own booze, because who wants rude??
The bar music the first 3 days was loud and obnoxious and NOT the music we’d want to hear on a tropical island.
The ferry ride and drivers, especially Noel(sp) were pretty great. Super accommodating and helpful!
I think the hardest part of the hotel is knowing how GREAT it COULD be, but isn’t. All in all,we won’t be staying there again. Also, the beach was nice, but we saw way nicer beaches on island.

The staff was very accommodating and very kind, however the place is a little run down. There were roaches, mosquitoes. The walls looked like they weee moldy and the air barely worked.

It is true that the property and amenities are old. However, everything is clean. Modern TV with cable. my pet peeve bathroom is clean and fairly modern.
This is a basic needs hotel with excellent location - center of Christiansted with Beach! Residents get ferried (1 minute ride) for free from hotel to Christiansted as the boat goes back and forth constantly. The staff are polite and helpful.

Amazing location and staff. Like the little ferry to take you to shore. Always there or 5 minutes wait. The hotel is scheduled for renovation. It must have been incredible during it's hay day. Front desk staff all very courteous and helpful. Recommend this hotel for a relaxed vacation in the center off everything but on it's own private island.

Property is unique...on an island with a great beach...palm trees...great place to chill and relax...nice bar on the beach with good service and music...outside bar b que restaurant with excellent food including ribs....the property itself in rundown and needs updating...room was clean but had a few ossues...such as no hot water but there in that setting ..luke warm will suffice...pretty chill place overall...its not the 4 seasons but chill and relaxing for 2 or 3 nights...sure!

Like? Food, drinks, bar staff. That beach is a 10 BUT...hotel needs a lot of repairs ASAP.
Lots of water damage on ceilings, corroded balcony railings 😱😱 scary.

I booked the hotel for one night after reading the reviews. My expectations were low. So, after seeing the property I wasn’t surprised or disappointed. If you’re used to all inclusive resorts with beautiful landscaping and entertainment, this is not even close. But, they don’t pretend to be. The front desk staff Faye was kind and helpful. The ferry to the boardwalk runs frequently and the ride is one minute or less. I stayed there because the location and price met a quick need. I wouldn’t stay again…unless it’s totally renovated. The locals love the beach. I didn’t get to experience the beach because it rained.

Room was full of mold and dirty had to complained and get some other requested and one of the other rooms ac was bad also treble weekend
2.0 / 5.0
The great - The views, to be able to see both sunset and sunrise.
The good - The Beach
The Bad - There were sand flees crawling everywhere, the TV remote wasn’t in the room and when I notified staff they left one that didn’t work, also lost TV signal, Wi-Fi was unusable and AC unit although kept the room cool was extremely loud and when I notified staff they said they had it crossed off that it was replaced. They offered to try and moved me but it would’ve been to the side of the hotel with the large pile of garbage bags.
2.0 / 5.0
Poorly managed and maintained. Several areas there where no pathway lights. Shower never got hot. Ceiling had cracks, patio door could not use, broken floor tiles, in room safe was told not working. The location is great also love the private beach atmosphere. However current owner should sell to investors looking to bring to at least a 4 or 5 star hotel. Honestly a 2 star is being generous!
3.0 / 5.0
This property is accessed via a boat taxi. The hotel is in disrepair from the last hurricane. The price is right but be prepared for the boat taxi, limited dining, poor accessibility, and rooms clean but in poor condition.
