Our Island House stay was perfect! The location couldn’t be better…within walking distance of shops, restaurants & state park hiking trails. The hotel also had the best prices in town for bike rental & Casey, who rents the hotel’s bikes was friendly & accommodating! The 1852 Grill Room had the absolute best prime rib we’ve ever tasted!! All in all we would highly recommend The Island House Hotel.

The hotel is historic and lovely with a great location. The porch and firepits were great. The lobby is warm and welcoming. The room was small but clean but it was VERY loud. The first night, kids playing in the hallways, knocking on doors til after 2am when i called and asked to please help us and then at 7am, we were awakened by the cleaning staff slamming into our door making their way to other rooms yesterday, today shampooing carpets. If you would like to sleep in or get some rest on your getaway, this is not the place to stay. The front desk was apologetic but I feel like 7am is too early to be waking guests. (obviously they did not cause the kids to run around, they did help when I called) It is a pricey stay for so little quiet.

Perfect location with a great view and large room for our family of 4. Will stay there again for any future visits.

The A/C unit was so loud and the tiolet ran intermittently. The staff was great. The bag transfer system was very convenient. I would stay here again.

Loved Ialnd House! So beautiful, location great. It is a historic hotel, so rooms are small and you can hear through the walls, but the ambiance more than makes up for it. Would def stay there again.

Wonderful place to stay!!! Enjoy immensely!!

The only thing I didn't care for was the lack of any type of safety feature in the room's bathroom. All tub/showers should have at least one! The bathroom is very small and one false step on the shiny tile floor can result in a fall with serious injury. I am 72 years old and was fearful getting in and out the tub/shower because it was so slippery and nothing to hang onto. OBTW the shower rod wasn't even attached to the wall on on end.

Quaint room; nicely but simply appointed. Excellent view. Rocking chairs on front porch and chairs on front lawn for relaxing at any hour. Very walkable to east beyond other inns for great views of sunrise; also very walkable to center of town.

All was taken care of. Luggage was delivered from the ferry and was sent for us to the ferry return trip. All we had to do was drop it off at the appropriate locations. We had no worries about luggage. Fabulous!

Great location, well preserved historical hotel
The only negative feedback would be regarding the front desk staff who were very unfriendly, standoffish and almost unwelcoming
I think there is a even tinge of racism as well
Otherwise, housekeeping staff and the wait staff at 1852 grill were outstanding

Hotels in a good location and if you are facing the lake you will have a good view. Back view isn't as nice. But not too bad and the rooms are a bit small. One of our beds is pretty uncomfortable. But staff are friendly and things are clean..

I enjoyed this historic and quaint hotel. It is not a modern luxury hotel. The rooms are small and noises carry. I am not sure I would enjoy a multi-night stay but for one night it was wonderfully charming.

Lovely setting. Rooms are pretty small as it’s an old building. Love the outdoor seating in front of property. Bike rental right in front of property. 1852 restaurant is lovely!!!

Look.. If you want a place that makes you feel warm inside. You know, the feeling that lets you know you made the right choice in your hotel decision on mackinac island. Hot tub was so quiet. The pool, the same. Two restaurants on site. One casual, the other..well... "No hats, please Sir".
Taxi upon request prior to arrival both for the ride to dinner reservations and ride from and too dock.
Its a very pleasant stay.
Only downfall.... i couldnt get out on the deck all the way to enjoy my coffee and the sunrise... but i compromised, it was fine, i guess.

The Island House is a beautiful hotel with lots of extras with great service. I did feel their needed to be a chari in the room to sit in to put on shoes. The beds are to high to do so. Their was a stool, but for older patrons, a chair with a back would be safer.

We stayed in the family suite with the whole family. It worked out great. It was in the perfect spot, very walkable to all the sites. The rooms were spacious and clean.

Extremely small rooms, not even enough room in the bathroom for a sink. No way should put 4 people in the room size we had. Staff was very good. Price was ridiculously high for what they offered. Difficult to navigate in the hotel as it is not well marked. Nice location.

Very quaint. Our room was very basic with a window unit air conditioner. Would have expected more for the price!

The property is so comfortably remodeled, and is kept immaculately clean. Everyone of the staff members is extremely friendly, professional and always has a smile on their face. The restaurant 1852 is beyond the best on the island. Everything we had was made to perfection and was artistically presented. The Icehouse for lunch in the back garden is also wonderful. Island house is only a short block to the beginning of the shops. Along the way are the art museum, the fort and the grocery store is the first shop. The view from the Island house is beyond compare being just across the street from the marina. Sitting on the porch and rocking and just watching the horse and buggies and people go by are so relaxing. A couple of our suggestions are being addressed by the Island house: a grab bar for getting into the bathtub which can be asked for at the front desk as well as toiletry containers that are easier to squeeze. We will always choose Island house.

They had excellent dinning choices on-site. The BBQ behind the hotel and the sit-down elegant dining in the hotel. Views galore from the porch area and lawn seating. They also sold box lunches to take on the go that were gourmet and better than anything you could find out (included an apple, chips, fresh warm cookies and we got turkey/bacon/Swiss and Cheddar/PrimeRib sandwiches plus a drink) Try finding that downtown for just $20.00 each. And, two blocks down from the hotel, a grocery store and wonderful bakery beside it. Across the street (yellow building) another excellent restaurant. Also, show your key and get free admission to the Manoogian Museum. And, bikes to rent on site.

Good hotel with clean room and helpful staff. I felt that they should offer bikes to ride instead of charge for them.

Beautiful hotel! It was very relaxing to sit on the front porch and look out at the lovely view before us…horse drawn carriages, boats on Lake Huron, and a manicured front lawn with vibrant colored flowers!

Great location in an historic building in a quiet part of Mackinac Island. Convenient to town. Solicitous staff who were helpful in getting our luggage to and from the nearby ferry. We received a food voucher which we used at the excellent 1852 Restaurant in the hotel. We had both breakfasts there, as well. The room was on the small side and the bathroom sink was in the bedroom. This is the price to pay for historic.

The 4th floor is not very safe even with the hotels notes about the low dormers they really should not be rented out or perhaps not to older folks like us i have two horrible knots on my head from the horrible low cieling
