Beautiful location on a small bay. Free parking on the street in front of the Inn. Great restaurant. The trail up the hill ( steep) to the Dunnottar Castle is 3 miles round trip but absolutely worth it if one is able. The room was small but immaculate, lots of hot water, good WiFi and a very reasonable price at the time of this review. I did not see if there was a lift, one flight of steep stairs to our room. Highly recommended.

We really enjoyed our stay at Ship Inn. Small town experience. Food was really good and the staff were super friendly. The room was comfy. Felt like I was at my favourite Aunties house!
Shoutout to Abby Chivon Zane Fifi and Fiona.

We had a pleasant one night stay and found the staff very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean but decor and furniture a little tired. Food was great - especially the breakfast which was included in the price. Would definitely stay again.

We enjoyed this lovely hotel in Stonehaven. It was quaint and the service was truly wonderful. We enjoyed the breakfast (which was included and gave us many options), the restaurant, pub and the proximity to the amazing activities this area has to offer, including Dunnottar Castle, bird watching, Wynford Farm and lovely day hikes and strolls. We also enjoyed being near the water and walking about Stonehaven. Thank you for an incredible stay and experience.

The bedroom windows where buckled and wouldn’t close properly had to put towels in the gaps to stop the draft

This place is awesome! A great view, a wonderful pub downstairs, clean warm room. Good bed and bedding. The history!.... It is a bit on the smaller side and you have to climb stairs to get to your room. You enter from a locked back door to am internal staircase-felt very secure.
Excellent food.

The breakfast, pub fare and drinks were reasonable and delicious. The staff were friendly and accomodating. We were only there two nights but wished we had booked for longer.

The Ship Inn is a gem! Set on a lovely beach, it is a charming place! The rooms are immaculately clean and beautiful. The mattress was so comfortable for a good night’s sleep. Walking around Stonehaven, we enjoyed the beach, the walk to the castle, and the paths in Donnotter Woods. The restaurant was great, and the included morning breakfast was very filling. All the staff were helpful, friendly, and professional. We highly recommend The Ship Inn.

Great little Inn with an awesome view out of the front door. Walked to Dunnotaur castle, just an amazing coastal town. Restaurant was great at the hotel (mussels), and staff was very friendly just like all Scottish people we met. Would definitely stay there again.

Coming in out of chilly rain to stay at the Ship Inn was one of my cosiest travel experiences. Initially after making my reservation online, I was confused about how to check in because there is no "front desk."But the Inn (responding to an email) instructed me to collect my room key at the bar when I arrived, and I was warmly welcomed and helped to my room and immediately made to feel completely at home (thank you Michelle!). The hot shower was the BEST I've had in years, and the in-room coffee/tea maker was a wonderful thing to come home to after hiking to Dunnottar castle in the rain. The bed was the only thing that was uncomfortable (the mattress felt a bit worn down) but otherwise ALL the touches and amenities in the room (towels, shampoo, coffee/tea, welcome biscuits, tourist info on the area) felt luxurious, and the character of the building (excellent radiator and spacious armoire and desk) made it felt very unique. The breakfast (included) was an unexpected treat as well, fresh and delicious. A meal of orange juice, fruit salad, yoghurt and a hearty "Scottish breakfast" with a delicious croissant was exactly what I needed before a day spent hiking in the rain. Then, in the evening, a delicious dinner of locally-caught seafood and homemade Polish apple pie were an enormous treat. But above all, what made Ship Inn particularly special was the staff, especially Michelle; everyone was helpful and welcoming and made every day I was there feel special.

Lovely staff and room. Bar very welcoming and food (burger in my case) was great and washed down with a pint of ale. Highly recommend

Visiting with my husband for a birthday celebration this was the perfect break away.
Nestled at the harbour in the old town of Stonehaven there is a friendly atmosphere, great beer and the seafood was awesome!
Spotless room, well worth paying for the harbour view.
Staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was everything you could ask for to set you up for a day of walking and exploring.
Awesome food in the evening in the restaurant. We will definitely be back and would recommend The Ship Inn for a weekend away without hesitation.

Our room was cozy and well-appointed. The location is unbeatable, right on the harbour and facing east, a leisurely distance from the town centre one way and gorgeous hikes the other way. It's also got a terrific restaurant on the ground floor.

The hotel is right on the wharf with an ocean view. The rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable. The bar/restaurant served excellent food and drinks. The beach side of town was a short stroll away and was very charming. There is a walk to Dunnotar Castle close by and well marked. It has a steep staired start, but the walk along the cliffs was breathtaking.

Lovely property right on the harbor. They have a restaurant on site so we booked for dinner, and breakfast was included. I am glad we stopped overnight in this cute little town, and we loved how walkable the village was. Staff was friendly, accommodating, and the place was as described. No regrets here!

Lovely inn with lots of activity in the evening on the water front. A lively evening crowd at the pub below turned quiet about the time we wanted to turn in (10:30ish?). The room was immaculate and the included breakfast was top notch and so filling! We were ready to head into battle for Scotland on a full stomach!

Good location. Checkin was a shambles as room wasnt ready when we were told. Had to hang about with our suitcase for an hour. Room was basic and really small and overlooked the bins. Bed was really uncomfortable. Breakfast choices were good but food wasnt hot when it arrived. Even the toast was cold. Overall it was a disappointing stay
