Everything about this stay was incredible. The rooms are so unique with incredible views. It’s right in the middle of everything yet secluded enough that noise isn’t an issue. The staff was hands down the highlight. I want to be friends with all of them!!!

Felt right at home. We love the intimacy and local embeddedness and aesthetic of boutique hotels but recognize the risk of not sticking with a trusted brand. Rivera Del Rio delivered. It's beautiful and has so many rich details, including the resident cats Elizabeth (the Queen) and Francisco. Live it.

Interesting décor. Plumbing a little iffy. Nice view from the back terrace, but glass doors leaked and the room took on water a few nights.

This was the most unique property I have ever stayed at. It was whimsical and beautiful. We stayed in the Candelária and loved it. A wonderful stay! The view from the roof top bar can't be beat

The rooms are very unique and one of the best parts of this location. The bar and restaurant are nice to visit. The neighborhood is okay, but is definitely in transition with new condos being built.

This is hands down the most incredible stay in all of puerto Vallarta. Excellent staff, amazing views, beautiful attention to detail and tasteful furnishings in every room

Great boutique hotel and wonderful, welcoming staff. I highly recommend this place. Yes, it’s a little off the beaten path compared to hotels closer to the beach, but it’s really not far at all from anything in the Zona Romantica, and the soothing sound of the river is worth every additional step.

We could not stay. They have cats on the premises and my husband is highly allergic to them. He got sick . They are refusing to refund us

Went with my partner to PV in June 2024. This hotel was perfect - best place I've ever stayed anywhere. Everything was stunning. Pools are incredible. Views: immaculate. Service was fantastic and so warm and friendly. The cat, Elizabeth, even cuddled with us on our last night! Everything was clean. Location was also walkable to the beach, boardwalk, and many many great restaurants and bars. Amazing street food near the church in the evenings! Would recommend this place to anyone.

The hotel did not have our reservation through hotels.com on file, so they had to find us a different room. It took a little while and it was a different room than I booked, but had a beautiful view and overlooked the river. We loved the decor and location. It was dreamy! Jerry was very nice and the pools and hot tubs (with bar on top floor) were great. We walked everywhere. It was lovely.

The whole hotel was so charming and unique. I loved everything about it, you really get the authentic Mexico experience here with the location. I seen previous reviews that complained about water pressure but it was fine for me. I was in the scarlet room and it was beautiful, small but we didn’t need anything bigger (maybe just more closet space for clothes) the deep bathtub and balcony was lovely. The only downside was the air conditioner leaked a lot, there was a huge puddle on the floor when we woke up but we told the front desk person and it was fixed later that day. Yes you will hear dogs barking but we slept with some white noise on YouTube and the AC on so it didn’t affect our sleep. It’s a quick walk to the beach and if you want to try breakfast out of the hotel go to mi cafe, it’s only 2 blocks away and amazing breakfast.

Loved everything about this hotel. It’s a cute small quirky boutique hotel & everyone was so friendly. We were greeted by chips & Guac & a complimentary drink from the bar. Rigo provided us with amazing service & him and the staff were able to upgrade us for free to a better room because it was my bfs birthday's. They even had the room decorated for his special day which we loved. I also loved how they call a taxi for you if needed, so getting around was never an issue. This hotel is close to everything and walking distance from the malecon. If you’re looking for an Affordable nice hotel to stay at then i HIGHLY recommend this hotel. I will definitely be back.

You will really enjoy Mexico’s beauty and culture is you stay here. The location is just amazing!! The hotel itself has a lot of character and beautiful views all around. The people working here are super friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was delicious. I will definitely stay here again. Very easy to find street tacos around the area. Those are the tacos I enjoyed the most. Walkable distance everywhere. To the Malecon, to the bank to the shops to the street markets. Very easy to get taxi and uber. We mostly walked everywhere. I really loved this place.

This place is the real life grand budhapest hotel and I will never stay anywhere else. Stunning rooms, intricate, artful, interesting without being gaudy. Creatively recharging.
The staff are all incredibly friendly. The hotel bartender is so friendly and sweet. There’s a hotel cat named Elizabeth who runs the place. I extended my stay to be here longer and plan to come back in a few months. They were very accommodating of my various requests.
The rooftop pool is beautiful, but the jacuzzi was my favorite. So hot and relaxing overlooking the hills. Best at sunset.
The rooms are comfy, well cared for, clean, and beautiful. Each with their own quirks. The walk to the beach is an easy and safe 5 minute stroll. It’s so quiet and serene here. An introverts heaven after the hotel zone. Felt very safe as a single female traveler. Come stay, you’ll be glad you did.

We really enjoyed our stay here, we were greeted at the door by a friendly host who welcomed us in and gave us a refreshing tea and guacamole- a nice touch. The room was very clean with beautiful decor. The room overlooked the river but it is completely dry right now in June of 2024. This is apparently low season but it didn’t feel that way because, though we were here through the week, the night life was exciting and there were many people. The only thing that made our trip uncomfortable was the sound of the neighborhood dogs every morning around 7:30-8 am, without fail. This of course is not the hotels fault. The hotel is located at the end of a road without much traffic noise or crowd noise, which was nice. We brought earplugs and turned on the noise machine and still were woken up by the dogs. This is just something to be aware of before staying here. We chose the included breakfast which was a nice spread of a continental breakfast (toast, local fruit, jam, butter, coffee, fresh juice) and you can choose an item from the menu which is a full breakfast. The hotel is within walking distance to the beach (seven blocks) local shopping and all the OXXOs and Farmacias you could ever want for your convenient store or pharmacy needs. I recommend this hotel to adults (I think it’s adults only) and definitely couples. I would not bring a child here because there are scary winding staircases and three to four pools they could fall into.

This was our second time staying at Rivera Del Rio and we will definitely be returning. The staff is lovely, the walk to the beach is 10 minutes max, there’s ample food and shopping nearby and the area is quiet. Be sure to have breakfast overlooking the river, or grab a drink at the rooftop pool.

Excellent boutique hotel right in the middle of Zona romantica. Easy access to go everwhere. The hotel is pretty quiet at night because it’s next to the river. Authentic decor inside the Cortez suite. Amazing view of the city and sunset from the rooftop pool. Many eateries around the area. Reasonable price and friendly staff. We will be back.

This is a very unique hotel. We picked it because of the fun decor and it didn’t not disappoint. Everywhere you look there is fun, interesting and whimsical artwork and decorative touches.
Unfortunately many areas just seem old and under kept. Most of the staff are lovely and very helpful.
The area seems a little sketchy at night but after taking a few evening walks, I’m sure the sketchiness is more perception than reality.
If you enjoy the eclectic, this is your place!

I loved the place. It was like a home away from home. Entire staff were friendly and would address you by your name. I upgraded to the penthouse and it was worth it. The bed was so comfortable. Down pillows, soft sheets, and a great blanket. The bathroom had a tub with rainfall shower head, toilet, bidet on the side, a long walk-in closet like with a dressing table at the end. A fireplace is next to the bed, tv was place in a corner, an extra couch/bed like at the foot of the main bed, and a working desk to the left of the main bed. The patio was extravagant with outside seating, table, and even a relaxation bed to soak up the sun. The living room has a couch facing the tv that is next to the front door. The kitchen was perfect size with a nice size pantry room. There is an extra half bathroom for the living room and a private doorway to the fresh water pool (door did not work with my keys).
Breakfast was simple. Fresh fruit and fresh fruit water of the day. Coffee or tea is served and you can order heavier breakfast if you'd like. 7th floor pool is an endless pool with an amazing view. There is a little bar next to it along with a full size bathroom where you can shower. The 3rd floor pool is fresh water and next to it at the top is the jacuzzi.
The lobby is well kept and decorated. Actually, the entire hotel is well decorated with its quirks and historical stuff. My favorite part are the two beds for the two cats that live and visit.
Highly Recommend This Place!!!!

Really unique, charming hotel in a great location with fantastic staff. We had great service, starting with a smooth check in and tour by Rigo. Poolside cocktails by Jesus and Jerry were delicious. Blanca did an excellent job maintaining our room.
Looking forward to visiting again. Really enjoyed there being so many pool options, especially liked the heated rooftop pool.

Place is 20m or so away from airport so not that far. Reception was very welcoming, explained amenities, & recommended places to visit around the neighbourhood. In lobby they have pamphlets of excursions to try. Our room Maria was very open from bedroom to the bathroom. It gets loud during breakfast since it is next where other guests eat. Although the bed was very comfortable so we had no problem sleeping. Place is perfect walk 10m away from Malecon & there are nearby places to eat (just a matter googling what’s close) … rather than relying on places by the Malecon. Breakfast isn’t free but there are great cafe’s nearby. Pool on 3rd floor, but a spectacular view on rooftop 7th floor with also a swimming pool that’s open 24/7 (recommended to try at night to enjoy the city lights). Employees were always so friendly & especially the cats that I can’t resist petting whenever we pass by. Would love to come back & try another suite since each of them are different from the other.

We stayed for six days here in late April. We had a great relaxing stay at RdR. We were in the Gabriella room which was a bit small but worked well for us. Beautiful hotel and close to everything in the Zona Romantica.

Quirky, vintage, cool boutique hotel in a quiet area that's easily walkable to the beach and attractions. Hotel kitties are treated like royalty as are the guests. The breakfast was better than expected. Carolina was exceptionally attentive to us. Would definitely stay again :)
