Fantastic hotel and perfect location. Big thanks to Phoebe for helping to facilitate our return.
The breakfast was good quality with excellent service.
Our room was clean, tidy and spacious. The bed was very comfortable. A little surprised that there was no bottled water in the room as majority of hotels offer this as a minimal, however I still rate the hotel five star overall. Will defiantly be returning.

This is a tired hotel, that is in need of some general maintenance and modification, the foyer is very nice and welcoming, but beyond that things start to slide downhill rapidly, the lighting in the room was dull and didn't give a welcoming feel to the room at all, there were very few plug sockets in the room to the point you had to choose between fridge or kettle as both couldn't be used at the same time, no plug sockets either side of the bed, one of the plug sockets on the wall was loose so didn't use that, mould spots in the sealant around the bath. The complimentary beverages provided seemed to be limited to 2 standard coffees 2 decaf coffees and 2 standard tea bags and 2 flavoured teas. 4 white sugar 4 brown sugar and 4 sweeteners, and milk no bottled water. On the stairwell up to the first floor there was a piece of chewing gum trodden into the carpet and remained there for the duration of our stay. Parking is limited and charged didn't see any priority disabled parking. There is parking off site if your lucky enough to find a space in the Montpellier car park it cost us £13.20 per 24 hour and is only a short distance from the hotel. Tried to upload photos sadly unable to.

Lovely hotel with a nice public area. Although we booked a standard room it was massive. Breakfast was excellent

Stay here every year as part of a longer trip. The staff at check in are always excellent.

Really comfortable, clean & warm.
The staff went out of their way to make sure we received what we had asked for - so many, many thanks.
The food at breakfast was really nice & the evening meal was simply fantastic. Compliments to all. The starters & the sweets were fantastic - but I have no words to describe the Shoulder of Lamb meal - the taste was the best we have ever had anywhere. If I had to eat this meal every night for a week - then that would be the best thing ever!! It really was the best - so many thanks.
The staff work really hard but an extra member of staff on the bar could be a good idea in the early evening.
Also, I know the hotel is very old but perhaps something could be done about some of the squeaky floorboards, these are very noticeable when you are trying to be quiet in the night.
Your staff are really lovely & nothing was too much trouble. My nearly 86 year old Mum & myself were able to share in some very precious memories during our two night stay in your lovely hotel.
Thank you, everyone

Good value

In my opinion this hotel runs on its high standards of the past. Its a beautiful building but needs repair in many places but still has character and that overides the condition and some staffs level of service to guests.

The bed and the pillows were far too hard. Both myself and Husband left the next morning with a bad back each

All fine, huge room and bathroom. Cost of parking a little off putting at £12 per night but centre of town I guess.

Parking very limited but luckily got a space. Double room (not comfort double room as they are smaller) was big and had a very large bathroom. However no drawers at all for clothes and a small wardrobe. No room service at all after 9pm - not even a sandwich. Loud music played in rooms was not dealt with. Random person running and shouting up and down the corridor for half hour from about 1am on the second night - so basically security not up to much. Staff were friendly. Bar was ok but pricey, plenty of better bars very nearby. Excellent location. Recommend Brimham rocks for a unique day out.

Our stay was lovely. It's was for my birthday. Room a little disappointing as the view from our window was a brick wall and the paper on the ceiling was coming away room 216.we also had a baby which we had to carry the pram up stair to our room. But wow the breakfast was very nice . Parking was a bit of a nightmare but managed to get a space at the back of the hotel.

Excellent check in service our room was ready at 11 45 am when we arrived. Lovely spacious room at the front of the hotel and a large comfy bed. Nice lounges to sit in and have a drink in this grand old hotel which is full of character. Breakfast buffet was good and checkout was excellent. Friendly staff . Hotel is ideally located for exploring all Harrogate has to offer and we will stay there again. Great value for money.

There was a wedding party directly below our room. With a baby it was totally inappropriate. I suggest they put wedding guests in such a room. We asked to move but it was not possible.

Parking first come first served however parking spaces had been reserved? Suggested carpark full due to Conference on in town we had to park near railway station £15.60 overnight. Room very spacious and clean and had a good nights sleep. Plug sockets an issue only one that we could use double socket to close to skirting board so could get plugs in the socket.

Location & parking good. Warm welcome from reception but breakfast was very poor. Only eggs were scrambled. Furnishings & decor very tired. Is in desperate need of a refit but to be fair, you get what you pay for & it wasn't expensive.

So the ceiling was extremely squeaky and the person staying in the room above sounded like Nelly the elephant up there having trampoline lessons. It did disturb my sleep and I’m a heavy sleeper.

Really nice stay nice staff, loved & clean.
& they gave us some chocolates as it was our anniversary. We also had complimentary upgrade & complimentary drinks, as we have visited quite a few times.
The location is perfect.

Stayed before 1 year ago and was very satisfied. This year the room smelled musty and a bit like B.O. and everything in general is looking tired and in need of refreshing. Dylan in reception was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. He went up to the room and did his best to get rid of the musty smell. Thank you, Dylan. He offered to change rooms but there was no other twin room free. We were provided with a very welcome upgrade to an executive room for the 2nd night but again the room looked a bit tired but lovely and spacious and smelled ok. Breakfast was very good although whether the person taking our order was trying to be friendly/funny it didn’t come across well because she sounded as if she thought I was asking too much of the kitchen when I ordered both porridge and poached eggs (both of which have to be ordered separately from the buffet). But for the price I think smell aside this is a good hotel.

Very bad, booked in for evening meal. People who did get served in dining room sent meals back as they were inedible. Walked out after waiting over 1/30 for meal ended up in wetherspoons. Breakfast in the morning was cold and undercooked. Hotel is very tired and needs a complete refurbishment .

Our stay here was generally excellent. We managed to get a car parking space although it should be noted that there aren’t many space. The members of staff at reception were all very pleasant. Our room was excellent! I think we got an upgrade because we received a large corner suite with 4 rooms even though we’d only paid for a family room. The room was well appointed although the decor was dated, but in keeping with the hotel. The rooms were very spacious - we even had a four poster bed! The location of the hotel was also very convenient for Harrogate with the centre only a couple of minutes walk away.
The only negatives were that the bed was a little too firm and noise from outside the hotel could be heard due to the old windows. But otherwise we had a good stay.

I and my 5 other friends loved this hotel. It was reasonably priced, the staff were very friendly and efficient, and it was clean and centrally located with easy parking available. Old world elegance. The hallway carpet needed replacing, but all in all it was a wonderful stay.

An ideal location for exploring Harrogate. Comfortable and well appointed hotel. Breakfast was good, we ate in a number of the many local restaurants in the evening. This isn’t a reflection on the hotel, more about the wide variety of options available.
We’d happily stay there again next time we go to Harrogate.

I don't expect mold on a bed and in the room.
Floor was too dirty to walk on barefoot.
The dated beauty of the hotel is in need of renovation

2nd stay at this hotel. Parking is a challenge, we managed to get the last spot on a nearby street and paid on an app.
A private exhibition was in Churchills restaurant so they moved fpod service to another room. There were only 9 tables of diners but the delays started when they had run out of menu's. Service was very slow, 45 mins to get our starters. The food itself was lovely.
Breakfast the next morning was in the same room. It was very busy. Tables were crammed in and my hubby struggled to sit down due to the customer behind, thete wasnt enough space between tables. Staff werent keeping on top of clearing the tables.
Our Suite was lovely and we had no noise from outside.
This is an old hotel and its clear the decor needs attention. This doesnt bother us, its part of its charm
I asked at reception if we could get an extra 30 mins to checkout and was told it would be £20. I found this unreasonable as there were lots of rooms on our coridor to clean so there was no reason it had to be done spot on 11am.
First and last impressions count. I used the ladies toilet in the reception area and sadly it smelt from a lack of proper cleaning.
There are lots of hotels in Harrogate, im afraid its time for us to try some of them next time.

Don’t have any problems when we stop at this hotel and it’s central

Faded glory. Cobwebs on the curtains. Limited buffet breakfast offering in Edward Ian splendour. 3 star in a charming olde world setting. Good location in Montpellier. All the staff looked like they had three days training. Clearly staff recruitment and retention is an issue at the Crown.

The initial greeting and service from the receptionist was outstanding. She was an absolute credit to you establishment and what an excellent Ambassador to your hotel. We arrived 2pm on 27/8/2024, i think i found out her name was Freya.
The room we moved to however, despite being a brilliant room, the noise from the room above on the floor and water was constant from the early hours of the morning.

I was disappointed by the rooms here, as I could hear everything happening in the rooms next door and the corridor and stairs. I was woken up multiple times by people coming back late at night and not even being loud themselves but it was like they were stood next to me. Shower was weak and breakfast was low quality food left to dry out under hot lamps. Overall would not recommend at all.

We arrived and immediately clashed with reception over parking. She was incredibly officious and patronising and somewhat arrogant. This carried on with exactly the same member of staff when we check out when she attempted to double charge us. The bar staff were somewhat lacking too .. we ordered 2 baileys on our first evening they only had one, the barman went to “find” another bottle and came back almost 10 minutes later to tell us we’d had the last one, I then asked for an Old Fashioned to which I was asked if that was a cocktail he then proceeded to tell me he didn’t know how to make it. The following night again we tried a nightcap my wife again asking for a Baileys assuming they would have restocked, but no such look with this barman (.a different man from the previous night ) even saying that they “ .. didn’t serve Baileys”
The breakfast was a little below par too, on both days we found the several of the fresh coffee cups to still be stained and soiled. Some of the food was tasteless - the bacon for example, some was cold - the mushrooms, the rest was average at best.
Finally we get to the room, basically a square box with mismatched furniture including a very old style box wardrobe. The shower was very low powered and took almost 15 minutes to run hot and same with the sink taps.
However the rooms were very clean and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Also the ground floor and building are stunning and the location perfect. Overall we said it was tired.
