Lot's of parking spaces and room in the bedroom. Vast breakfast area and plenty to choose from hot and cold.

Great service from fabulous staff as always.

Very large hotel with spectacular windows and other architecture. Room was a good size and so was bathroom. Large dining room with lot's of choice.

A very traditional hotel with a Scottish themed decor, most appealing! Staff were very polite and friendly. The Cairn is well placed for concerts and town shopping.

Good location within walking distance of Harrogate centre. Staff really friendly giving great service. Room adequate though needs updating. Food is limited menu and plenty other better options in Harrogate. Breakfast was good

Stayed at this hotel numerous times and feel so comfortable there. Good food abd friendly staff
Its a fair walk uphill to the town centre but there is a bys stop outside

Period of property close to town centre

Quite frankly, I would not stay here again even if you paid me to. Rude reception staff who moved me out of my first allocated room to a much smaller room with the words “this is the SINGLE room you actually booked”. The first room was a basic twin which I had booked.
The room was down a series of shabby corridors, poorly signed and next to the service stairs. The corridor outside smelt damp and the lock did not work properly.
No atmosphere in the hotel but a hilarious Status Quo tribute band in reception who kept stopping mid song when they got it wrong.
Will never stay here again.

From a very warm welcome, fab clean room with four poster bed and delicious breakfast.

The hotel is old but really nice and full of character, the room we stayed in was in need of a refurbishment but clean and the bed very comfortable. In a grest location 10 sroll in to the centre. I woul stay again, no problem.

Beautiful building and grounds in easy walking distance from the town. The room was in need of refurbishing and the mattress was hard. There were no pillow protectors and the room needed a proper deep clean. Overpriced for a poor room.

Lovely grand old building feom the outside with beautiful period stained glass windows and stone embellishments, but very 'tired' looking in many places, including bedrooms, corridors and dining areas. Bedroom windows replaced with double glazed sash windows and new carpets, but the cleaning of the bedrooms needs attention. Clean bedding and towels but dust and fluff in corners, mouldy bath sealant and shower curtain, bathroom door didn’t close without banging it shut and disturbing neighbours. Breakfast was plentiful with lovely attentive staff, but cobwebs hanging from the crumbling ceiling above where the food was being served. The best thing about this hotel was the staff. Such a shame the building looked like it was not being cared for inside.

Excellent service by lovely staff wearing white shirts, white ties and waistcoats every morning for breakfast. Silent nights sleep, 250yds from Betty's Tea Rooms, Bus stops going to Leeds, York, Ripon and Knaresborough right outside, plus FREE PARKING. Excellent stay to View Harrogate and surrounding areas. Best place anywhere. X Thank you all.

The staff was really nice and always willing to help.
The hotel was antique and some stances could be refurbished although it also has the beauty of that age.

The dining-room staff were very polite, friendly and attentive: excellent service.
The free parking was an excellent bonus.
The room was very cold but we were given a fan heater quickly.

We arrived at approximately 1.00am and man on reception was not the most welcoming (he knew to expect us at that time.)
Apart from that initial bad impression the stay was comfortable.

We paid for an upgrade without seeing the original room but honestly if that was upgraded im glad we didn't see the original room. It was dusty and dirty and one of the mattresses needed the bin. It was badly stained and very uneven. This beautiful old hotel needs a new interior designer and an injection of old school glamour. That said breakfast was lovely and the staff amazing.

Enjoy the old world charm and spacious entrance hall and dining facilities which adds to the visitor experience

Lovely grand old building, very handy for Harrogate centre (although it's a bit of a steep walk back). Room was spacious and welcoming, with a large bathroom and comfy bed. No noise from outside, and we got a good night's rest. It's a little dated, and our room had a four-poster bed which meant it would be tricky to watch the TV (if we'd wanted to). Only quibble is it could do with more plug sockets.

Lovely hotel. Its a old building. But overall in good condition. Would recommend it

We were booked into a ‘Superior double room’ which was quoted as recently refurbished.
The room was very small, furnished with oversized furniture for the space it was occupying, bed was comfortable and shower was very hot and a bath which was very welcome after tackling Harrogate hills.
I do think that it was overpriced for the room although this was offset with free onsite parking
Harrogate is a lovely place to visit.

Very tired hotel the room was very small and too hot even with window open . A fan would have been perfect . Seating in car park wasn’t ideal .
Perfect location for visit to Harrogate .

Older hotel near city centre. The room was spacious and well equipped. Breakfast was fine and the service was very good. The hotel had plenty of parking and was free of charge. The location was a 10-15 minute walk into town where there are many shops, bars and restaurants. On the downside the floors were very creaky and I was woken up early every morning by the people above moving about for ages for about an hour. Also the walls were thin and I could everything the couple next door were saying with one of them constantly coughing. So I turned up my telly to drown it off and they complained and I was asked to turn it down! There is no air con and only 1 window in my room opened and so wouldn’t want to stay there when it was very hot. Overall though a pleasant stay and ideal for those travelling by car.

I booked here as I needed somewhere and was one of teh few available.
I had read reviews a few years ago of here and they hadn't been the best, so my expectations were low. I was wrong.
Staff were lovely, pleasant and plentiful.
My room was comfortable, away from their function suite, and I slept well.
Breakfast was plentiful, a lot of choice.

Breakfast was disappointing and was served by the chef!
Mushrooms had a vinegar taste, black pudding too dry so I ended up having a bacon and fried egg sandwich.

Nice place to go for a one night away very noisy and get woken up by people talking and walking past. Floors are to creaky and loud

We arrived early and were able to park our car for free whilst we visited the town centre, returning to the hotel to a hassle free check-in.
The hotel is an old property but is well maintained and very clean. All staff were friendly and courteous. Our room was clean and well appointed and the bed was comfortable.
Breakfast was very good with plenty of hot and cold choices.
Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Nice hotel, breakfast very expensive, fire alarm went off in the night , poor direction and communication from staff, good shower comfy beds

The one thing that stood out with Cairn Hotel was how wonderful the staff were. We stayed in a standard double and it was clean and well presented. It does need some remedial works to take it up a notch but that didn't stop us enjoying our stay. The breakfast choices were very good but not sure everyone would pay what they ask if they didn't have the cooked offering or hot food choices. Mattress had seen better days as it was a little lumpy in places. Given the August weather a fan in the room would have been a thoughtful extra.

Attentive staff quick service I called down for an iron it appeared in what seemed like seconds

Hotel in a good location, free parking and 10 minute walk into Harrogate town centre.
Nice outdoor seating areas, flowers and overall appealing exterior.
Porter who helped with luggage to room and other items was great and bar staff and night receptionist friendly.
Hotel is quite dated, with our room very basic and old fashioned, and nothing like the photos or description online. Yet bathroom seemed to be recently refurbished as modern.
No air con so was very hot, windows jammed shut only open at a push about 3 inches. No large fans available when we asked to cool room down, given two tiny fans which did nothing, useless.
I had messaged the hotel upon booking regarding a special occasion, this was not responded to at all and no acknowledgement of the birthday, which was very disappointing.
Asked for an ice bucket for the room as we had brought a bottle of wine to celebrate, was told we would be charged £7 for this! Have never known anything like it, so declined, but our porter did bring wine glasses.
No iron or ironing board in room so had to ask and wait for this.
No fridge in room, no full length mirror, no chain for door just one basic lock so didn't feel totally safe.
Overall the accomodation quality did not warrant the cost of the stay unfortunately.

A very large, impressive hotel. Very old and filled with character. Enjoyed just walking thru the lobby and hallways. Very nice room and great breakfast. Would love to return if life takes me that way again.

Great welcome on arrival, large room, little bit tired but still comfortable, great location for accessing Harrogate bars and restaurants
