Great stay with beach views and 10 mins walking from Galley Bay beach; we were greeted at the airport by cottage staff who took us to the cottage (following her car) and even showed us the nearest supermarket. We had a great stay here and would recommend to anyone looking for a nice quiet cozy cottage not far from the centre but in its own own nature world

It’s a beautiful private hideaway from the busy capital.. nice and secluded and close to the beach..

Overall pretty good, small inconvenience

It’s unfortunate that the Galley Bay Resort that is located just beneath the Galley Bay Cottages is completely off limits and therefore dining is finding local eateries in the area that are not consistent with price, sanitation and food handling. You can access the beach just a walk down the path and it’s gated around the resort, but heaven forbid you touch any chairs! You will be scolded by security who monitors the beach line from the resort. The cabs are limited to 2-3 people who are often already booked to take people around the island so make sure you bring running shoes cause you’ll likely be walking your way around unless you wish to wait for a long while for someone to come to you.
The overall cottage was nice, the cleaner came a day before I was leaving so I didn’t get fresh towels all week, and she stole my cigarettes.
I had to pay over $100 upon arriving for the cleaning lady. I didn’t make a fuss about it, I just accepted it as it was.
I will return to the island but will be making other arrangements that are closer to amenities rather than being placed at one end of the island away from everything. Overall experience from 1-10 was 4.

Quiet and very unique property, close to a beautiful beach.

There was a beautiful view, and very peaceful and quiet .
I didn’t like the steep climb up to it every day, but it was worth the view when you got there.

This property is not for someone seeking a luxury resort where you get waited on all the time. If you want a beautiful little shabby-chic cottage all to yourself, inside a quiet jungle filled with flowers and nosy birds, within a five minute walk to a gorgeous beach, where you cook for yourself or bring home delicious patties and local produce to cook, and where owner Marco attends to your every need, if you have any -- look no further. My family and I had a fabulous time and, if you have read this far, you probably will too. Some advice: it is best to rent a car and pick up some groceries on the way in, although Marco stocks the place with essentials like towels, paper, coffee, milk, etc. Also, some of the hills around the cottages are steep, and not for those with bad knees or balance issues. Otherwise, you will fall in love with the place. Thank you, Marco!

Very short walk to Galley Bay Beach. The cottage was perfect and Marco is a great host.

We certainly cannot recommend this place. Not sure why the good/decent reviews. Cottage is not kept properly with few if anything working right -- toilet that moves, stovetop doesn't light without match, just wooden windows that doesn't open/close properly. Frog, biting insects (even with coils everywhere), animals noises SO VERY LOUD all night long that it's impossible to sleep with fan, air conditioner, and white noise machine. We had to wear ear plugs AND headset to sleep every night. Can't wait to leave this place. Never again. Sorry!
Only good comment is that it's near the beach. We love Galley Bay beach.

The property is just gorgeous with amazing views. I stayed in the studio cabin. It was clean and nice. I had all kind of birds visit everyday on the porch. There is WIFI but no TV. Bring your laptop to watch TV.
My suggestion to the owner is to get a couple of beach chairs for the cabin. The beach is right there but no chairs are provided

To start Marco was great, he met us at the airport. Then on the way to the property, he showed us the local market. Super helpful & friendly.
Property is a little rustic but quaint. Did not want to stay at a resort.
At first was a little taken back but warm up to the treehouse after the first night.
Would suggest renting a car but you’ll need to be prepared for the locals roads.
Only thing we had an issue with was the water pressure but it’s because the island uses cisterns to collect their water, so we learned to deal with it.
All in all, we had a fantastic stay.
Highly suggest going to Barbuda & checking out their beaches.

The communication and check in were smooth. Location is alright, 10min walk from the beach, which offers good privacy. Nice touches with sun cream, towels and some basic cooking ingredients (salt, oil, coffee, some cereals, and biscuits). The half-working grill let us cook some fresh fish. There is one parking spot for all cottages, which was great for our rental car, which highly recommend to have if going to this accommodation. The wifi connection is acceptable for a Zoom call.
In total honesty, however, we do not understand the good reviews that led us to book this stay. The pictures seem much better than the place actually is. The cottage is little more than a shed which has clearly not been deep cleaned in quite some time. The fridge holders are very rusty, the shower curtain is dirty, and everything is very run down. The mosquito nets have many holes, which is not comforting given we found 8 large cockroaches one night that were walking over the bednet (picture attached), crawling out of various cracks in the cottage. The aircon is partly broken, we had an electricity cut for several hours and the shower is little more than a dribble, which makes cleaning off the beach sand an ordeal.
Overall it is not too expensive compared with other stays but really bad value for money. We were hopping around different accommodations in the island and this was by far the worst price to quality ratio. We would strongly recommend anyone to find a better option if available.

The Calabash Cottage was perfect for our party of three. It provided privacy while maintaining a sense of community. The garden views were everything we had hoped they'd be. The island sounds were pleasant as was the open-air concept of the cottage. The walk to the beach was literally 3 mins. The properties are perched hillside, which is a bit steep. No biggie. The only drawback is the property refuse location at the base of the hill. Marco was a gracious host and Omar was extremely attentive to our needs. Omar gave us a private tour of the Island along with stops at historical sites. We were all grateful to have met him.

Spacious beach cottage, nestled amongst lush trees and foliage with wrap around deck within a stones throw and walk to Galley Bay Beach. While not a shiny new penny, it has everything you need for a great stay. Communication is excellent with host. Would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful view. Best place to see the local culture....food and drink

The property was quite charming and semi-quirky. The view is beautiful! There is an evident termite problem in a few areas and the electricity went out at weird times in no apparent pattern for no apparent reason, but it didn't hamper our enjoyment of the cottage. The stove and oven had to be lit with the provided matches which was a surprise to us, but once lit, worked perfectly. I reached out to the property manager 2 times before our stay and he never replied to me. When my husband reached out to him, he replied. That was very disconcerting. Once we met him at the airport, he was very helpful. We had a rental car and we followed him to a grocery store and to the cottage. He stayed with us in the grocery store and helped us figure out the lay of the land. The 2 minute walk to the beach was easy and the beach is fabulous. I'd recommend the place if you're not looking for fancy. It's casual and quiet and perfect for 2.

This place has an amazing view, quiet, quaint, and the responsiveness to any needs was superb. Definitely recommend this place if you want to be secluded and don’t mind a short walk to a nearby beautiful beach and also a pristine spot to watch the sunset and oversea much of the Island!

I really enjoyed my stay at this special mellow part of the island! Galley Bay beach is amazing and very secluded, safe & clean. Only around a 4 minute walk to this beach from the cottages.
Marco was very good at communication leasing up to my arrival and even went out of his way to thank me for booking. Also, he arranged for his certified taxi driver & friend, Omar to come get me and paid for it! Very nice gesture. Also, on the way there Omar stopped for me at the main grocery store so i could shop for 4+ days of cooking. Very patient and very cool & nice guy.
Marco also didnt hesitate at all when i forgot cream for my coffee. He dropped what he was doing and drove to the store for me immediately. Very generous.
If you are looking for a very relaxing stay and like falling asleep to the amazing sounds as the night strikes up with secadas, crickets and frogs... then this is the place for you! Lots of cool wildlife all.around the property. From birds, geckos, cows & goats across the field... it is a very magical place! I already miss it, and have only been gone for 3 days

This is such special place. We stayed in Spice cottage and could not have been happier. Set in amongst the trees with a beautiful view of the ocean. We woke up to birdsong every morning and walked along gorgeous Galley Bay beach. The accommodation was extremely well stocked and Marco helped us with everything. It's very quiet in the evenings, so you have to be willing to explore all the great places in the area. We took the bus a lot, which was cheap and easy to navigate. The local village has a bar, a small shop and restaurant. But you've also got St John's nearby and Jolly Harbour. The other beaches in the area are walkable and also really wonderful to visit. Sublime!

Marco was a great host!

Awesome view. Lots of steps and a very steep driveway, so would be difficult if you have any mobility challenges. The owner Marco was awesome!! The king bed is super comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped.

We loved the location, proximity to the beach, quiet and quaint atmosphere and great service from Marco.

Marco was most helpful, picking us up at the airport, taking us to the large grocery to stock up, and giving us a quick tour of the surrounding areas. The cottage was great. Fans eliminated the need for AC. View and beach were beautiful. Would definitely recommend for folks that like laid back, ability to cook some meals, and not want night life. Walk to the beach was quick and easy.

We loved staying at the cottages! The place was super charming and Marco and Lucero were wonderful! We will stay here again for sure on our next trip back to Antigua!

No air con, and fan was broken. Other than that a dream spot

The view is incredible as the property sits atop the hill overlooking Galley Bay and the Resort below. We stayed in the Villa which meant we had the pool to ourselves. Our favorite was sitting in the pool overlooking the ocean below and sipping cocktails. The unit was well-appointed. Marco, the host, was terrific. We had an issue on day 3 and he immediately came to the rescue. His hospitality made it that much more memorable. Thank you!

We stayed in Spice Cottage and it was charming! The cottage is lovely and closer to the beach than it appears, access really is just a minute or two down the road. It is very secluded and quiet so you really do need a car. It was equipped with coffee, tea and milk upon our arrival. The sound of the birds was amazing, it has a very rural feel and I was very glad to see that aspect of Antigua, all the while being just a couple of minutes from an exquisite beach. We had enough groceries for a couple of days and it was so very peaceful.

Very nice place to stay, close to the beach with all the comfort. I recommend it.

Our host was above and beyond. He met us 30 mins away so we could follow him to the cottages. He also stopped along the way to show us points of interest, local food, and access to the beach. The cottage was even better than expected. We had all basic ammenities plus more. Very well kept property. Beautiful view. Walking distance to the Galley Bay Beach. Short drive for a couple options of basic groceries and good open air restaurant food. (Also short drive to other beaches including Long Bay and Hawks Bill beaches. We also recommend going up the hill from his place to the top of the little mountain. Great view of St. Johns on one side, beautiful mountain view, and beautiful sunset over the water. We highly recommend giving this place a stay, our 3 nights there were great! Thanks Marco! - Rafe & Iveta

We were 3 gents travelling ostensibly to watch the cricket at the SVR Stadium. The Galley Bay cottages were ideal for our scenario, easy enough to get to the cricket stadium via car or taxi. On our off days, the local beach is only 3 minutes walk away – its golden sands and sea are beautiful. The accommodation was perfect for us, not too formal & clean, tidy, spacious & airy. Lovely to be able to sit on the balcony, play cards & have a drink in the evenings. All the basics are there: beds, fridge, hob, oven, shower etc – plus many great extras too!Marco, the owner, was perfect – collected us from the airport, helped with our hire car & showed us some sights & the large supermarket. A great host.Locally the beach short walk & through a gate – fantastic as already mentioned, the village just is a further few minutes walk away & we enjoyed many a beer in the “Pond View” bar – decent food too, inc. their lobster special. Guys at the bar were a great help – sorting taxis & a “round the island” boat trip.As we travelled all around the island of Antigua, one thing we all saw frequently – how friendly the people are. They were fantastic – from the guy who asked if we were “lost” to the garage attendant who helped change a tyre. 10/1 for friendliness. Fantastic trip – perfect place, great accommodation, lovely weather. Recommend a hire car & getting around the island – fave beaches “Galley Bay” (local) & “Long Bay”. Would I go back to Galley Bay Cottages? Yes yes yes!

We (a couple in our 50s/60s) stayed in The Tree House for 2 weeks in February and it was perfect for us. We are on the more adventurous side and like being in charge of our itinerary. The cottage itself was all we could ask for in terms of respite from busy days and nights ... a cozy feel, very open, lots of beautiful touches, and a balcony with a fabulous view of the ocean and lots of friendly birds and lizards to share our meals with. An adequate kitchen for us to prepare breakfasts and lunches. There is complete quiet at night. Marco our host was exceptionally available and helpful whenever we had questions, even arranged for a rental car to be brought to our cottage. The nearby beach was closer than advertised ... more like a 2-minute walk ... and was a great beach both for sun-bathing and swimming. This would not work well for folks who like the all-inclusive model of travel, but we loved it! You pretty much need to rent a car if you're going to be there for more than a few days.

Marco is an absolute dream to deal with. He met us at the airport, took us food shopping, helped us collect our rental car and recommended lots of places nearby to eat and visit. A host and tour guide in one!
The cottage is lovely and has everything you could need for your stay. We spent many hours enjoying the sun and stunning views on the balcony.
Could not recommend any stronger.
