We really enjoyed our stay, the staff were friendly and efficient. Word of warning though - we wished we had checked Uber before arranging a taxi to our next destination. Not thinking about Uber we asked the hotel manager to arrange a car/taxi and it cost us 16,000 LKR 17000 with tip. Mr Uber 7444 LKR

Beautiful, secluded, and rustic. Open air treehouses are a great way to commune with nature!

People are very friendly and accommodating. The place is unique, it’s the first time staying in a place like that. Food was great. We really enjoyed our stay.

Amazing experience to be sleeping “outside” and waking up to the sounds of all kinds of animals. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Some of the best food we have had in Sri Lanka. Perfect location near both Sigiriya rock as well as pidurangala. We had hired bycicles to explore the surroundings, which I would highly recommend as well!

Stayed for two nights, and they where excellent! It’s very beautiful and truly an experience being so close to nature! It is very close to both Piduranagala rock and Sigiriya rock, so we climbed both with plenty extra time. The staff was super helpful with travel information and even made us our lunch to go when we where too late for elefant safari :) The food was great too! All in all I would absolutely recommend this place! We loved it!

Frankly I feel bad writing this. I had just an okay experience here and others had an amazing one. They even talked about it and I overheard. Basically it boils down to this: the treehouses are amazing. But the regular cottages - which is what I got - are just okay. And that plus the very hard beds made me not want to return. Even though the service was fantastic and the food was very good. But get a treehouse and you'll be happy I'm sure.

Lovely spot in the jungle! Highly recommend! Location is perfect we were able to walk to pidurangala for a sunset hike (literally around the corner) and then the next morning to sigiriya was about a half-mile walk down the road. Staff was super attentive! Stayed in one of the treehouses which I highly recommend-great glamping experience, not too buggy, great fans and mosquito nets, love the outdoor shower :) we didn’t see any-but apparently elephants and monkeys wander through the property regularly! Would definitely stay here again.

We were very excited to stay in the jungle treehouse. The treehouse was exactly as advertised - it was spacious, it looked out onto the jungle, and there were no walls or sides. We felt like we were right in the middle of nature. There was a mosquito net around the bed and a nicely equipped bathroom downstairs. Overall, we are really glad that we had the experience of waking up in the jungle. We were told that the monkeys had learned how to open the fridge (!), But we didn’t have any trouble from the monkeys while we were there. We were also told that if we heard anything large moving around in the jungle at night to just stay upstairs :) The staff at the hotel were friendly and were able to offer useful advice about the local area. The hotel is a ten minute walk to Pidurangala rock and a ten minute tuk tuk (300lkr) to Sigiriya. The hotel is eco-friendly and provides clean drinking water on site where you can refill plastic bottles, which was good. However, there were a few small issues with organisation. For example, we realised after I stay that our booking included breakfast. However, we weren’t told about this while we were there and so we didn’t have breakfast; this was a little disappointing. We felt that the communication from the staff could have been a little better, especially for the high price. Overall though worthwhile if you want to be close to nature.

We stayed in one of the three tree houses, which was a nice experience. We had thought we might see a few monkeys up close but we saw no animals, just a few insects/ frogs in the bathroom. The guys managing the place were helpful and friendly. They got up early to drop us at Pidurangala rock at 5 am for the sunrise climb without any issue. Breakfast of fruit and other choice omelette etc, was more than adequate. Eve meals were really tasty. A little out of the way if you want restaurants and bars and it’s not licenced to sell alcohol , however they are happy for you to bring your own. Overall a good stay for one / two nights. Poss only down side was because you are sleeping outdoors in the tree house the sheets can feel a little damp in the morning.

Sleeping in a treehouse is a unique experience and we slept exceptionally well, surrounded by the sounds of the jungle. The houses are beautifully appointed and the food was delicious. We were shown the local area on a bike ride and it’s certainly worth checking out the luscious surroundings.

Unique tree top hotel with interesting concept .
Quiet environment

Extremely poor room condition. Full of bugs, no precautions have been taken to prevent the unacceptable level of bugs. Even the mosquito nets were having large holes in them. Poor unacceptable breakfast. Way below the average and unacceptable standards. Provided the same feedback to the onsite manager.

We stayed in the treehouse and it was an incredible experience! Definitely recommend this place to anyone and the breakfasts were delicious- try and opt for the local style breakfasts as everywhere else we have stayed they have only offered western so was nice to have the option! The dinner and lunch prices were slightly more than the town but delicious also! The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable!

Really unique accomodation, walking distance from Pidurangala rock. Staff were excellent and very eager to please, food was really good with great local food and room was also very nice, a bit more water pressure in the shower would be good, but it did the job.

Stayed for three nights with my partner in one of the treehouses, lovely setting in the forest. The site is quite quiet with no amenities in the immediate vicinity. The food was ok but not great in comparison with other places we stayed. Ideally situated for Pidurangula Rock a short walk away for breathtaking views of Sigiriya. Sigiriya itself is only a short Tuk Tuk ride. We also went on trips to elephant safari (1 hour drive away), Polounnara (1.5 hours) which are both worth a visit. Dambulla rock caves is also within striking distance.Overall the service was good and staff very helpful with any queries we had. Wifi connectivity not great. If youre looking for something different then this is the place, we didnt stay anywhere else like this in 2 weeks in Sri Lanka. Word of warning though the Forest can be quite noisy during the night but you soon get used to it.

I am sure I am going to run out of words to describe what we experienced at this beautiful place. The friendliness of the staff and attention to details in creating a wonderful experience is simply amazing. Sleeping in a tree house takes you so much closer to nature. We really did not want to leave after our 2 nights at this place. Amazing once in a lifetime experience for us.

Spent two nights at the Back of Beyond Treehouse and it was incredible!! Sleeping partially outside (but protected by a mosquito net) took some getting use to, but definitely worth it!! The food was AMAZING and the staff were very attentive.

We loved this hotel! We spent 2 nights in the tree house and could not have been happier with our choice. The staff were amazing- incredibly accommodating and caring. They made sure we had a fantastic stay. Food was amazingly good. The tree house was killer- literally monkey's running in the trees at your eye level and very private! Bathroom was straight out of a magainze - the outdoor shower has a tree growing in it!
A note on the tree house- the second night there were dogs from the local temple running around fighting and barking because a female was in heat. There are no walls so it was pretty loud. It's just a freak chance this would happen while you're there but maybe ask if you can get a regular room if that happens. I imagine they'd accommodate. Despite this happening, we still loved the tree house and think it's one of the best places we've ever stayed!
