This is pretty much a Ryokan. Simple. Breakfast is very basic, no diner. They need to do better. Impression dining area is still closed from Covid time. A very Japanese experience. Sit on the floor, etc.

The onsen and included breakfast are pretty nice for the price.

A bit remote, buy the bus free pass to get around. Breakfast is basic they give u a plate of four bread items.
Onsen is ok nice being outside.

Staff did not speak any English but was friendly and very helpful. The note and rooms are quaint , beautiful and comfortable. We really enjoyed the space and traditional set up in room.
The biggest issues were more from booking through Expedia. 1) we have a 1.5 year old baby and it seemed a crib or pack and play was supported at this hire, turns out this is very rare in Japan and Expedia just can’t interpret that for visitors.
2) when you prepay or boo the dinner option it’s not on premise. The hotel boos and provides a set meal at a restaurant 5-10 min walk down the road (busy road with tiny barely existing sidewalks). If it’s cold or dark or you don’t like these restaurants that’s a real pain and you paid for a lie. It worked okay for ua, but would have been better to just put that to any diner we wanted as Japan has copious Amazing cheap food options.
The hotel did have nice, small bath house in person and provided free access to an enormous bath house “water park” of sorts 5-10 min walk down the road , which was really cool. Just assume no transport provided by hotel so you’ll be walking or cabbing any where you go. It’s a nice location but not like staying in a city area and requires constant getting around. Bus system is very solid in the area

Amazing ryokan experience!!!

Very nice place to stay. Near hike and waterfall. Walk from train station is steep. Fine for me, but if you are mobility challenged you should prepare.

Every staff was very helpful, excellent services, room consider very big for 2 person..very clean and quiet environment which we enjoyed very much. Just hope they have a bigger outdoor onsen.

This place is wonderful. However we had an issue with the invoice. We have booked through Expedia for two adults and two children and when we arrived to the hotel they told us that the children weren’t included in the price and we have to pay double. We called Expedia and they are going to reimburse us for the extra $350 we had to pay. Other than that the place is beautiful, the dinner delicious and the yunessun (which was included) really fun

Dinner was offsite and breakfast was just bread. A little disappointed. If you love peace and nature this is the place. Property is on half slope take note if you have baggage.

The outdoor onsen and reserved onsen were closed due to damages sustained from typhoon. It would have been nice to know ahead of time.
There was no restaurants on site.

One of the best properties we have stayed at in all of Japan! Excellent service ✅. Went over and above to help our family. Room is gorgeous. Don’t miss the waterfalls less than 7 mins walk behind the hotel. Direct bus from top of stairs. Futada Japanese restaurant is excellent also.

I would be aware that this hotel only has public baths available so there is no place to shower in privacy. The room size was large but I think for the price other hotels in the area are a better value. Also, the breakfast is made up of bread and coffee only. Overall I was very disappointed unfortunately. The staff was kind but spoke little English.

beautiful, peaceful stay. our favorite and most "traditional" accommodation. loved it! wish we could have stayed longer

Here on our honeymoon and compared to the hotels in Tokyo, our room was spacious, clean, and very peaceful. It’s nestled in wilderness, so every morning woke up to sweet sounding birds and soft light. The only thing that was challenging was finding restaurants that were open for dinner and not too expensive. Although, the teppanyaki restaurant nearby was awesome and worth every penny. Also, Yenessun, the hot spring water park was a blast.

Positive:
Location: It's only 1 min away from the bus stop. Very close to Yunessan.
Atmosphere: There are only 12 rooms so it's very calm in the hotel. You even enjoy public spa only for yourself. We could chat across the wall.
Room: It's large enough to relax. Clean.
Negative:
Food: There's no shop or restaurant inside. You really need to prepare yourself otherwise you need to walk up to seven eleven by 10min walk. Breakfast is really simple.
Private spa: It's only located inside and too simple. We decided not to book.
Location: not recommend to arrive by train - it's 15 min walk up to the monutain. Dark at night.

No restaurant unless you walked on unlit roads with no sidewalks to and from hotel.

Very traditional Japanese hot spring hotel. It is a very nice place to stay at

Without a bathroom inside the guest room is an inconvenience!

The area is not very convenient. Takes 10 minutes walk to 7-eleven. Around 12mins to nearest train station. Not much dinning options nearby.

Very accommodating, good amenities and very comfortable. The onsen, although abit small, is quite good.

I had a nervous breakdown and I went to this place to recharge. It's all green and mountains without noise of roads or lights. 15 min walk to Seven eleven. And you're all set. The bath is small size but outside bath is great. Room is big and cozy. Stuff was very helpful and kind.

Good and nice service wanting to come again next year.

Lovely hotel , we enjoyed a good hike and then came back to have a hot bath . All very clean and the service was wonderful. The only down side is the trek down a steep hill with a heavy suitcase and obviously back up again when you leave.

The rooms were newly renovated, and the room are pretty spacious. However, there is no elevator in the building, if you have lots of baggages, it is definitely not a convenient hotel for you. The onsen was okay, have both indoor and outdoor onsen.

A friendly, clean and relaxed hotel.Very simple breakfast, has a great shared onsen.

Classic Japanese Style boutique hotel. Fantastic Oban Hot Spring bath you can privately reserve. Caveat- private bathroom, but no private shower. Very accommodating hosts.

I found this hotel through Expedia as our original choice was not suitable. We needed a bigger room for our family and found it at this hotel for a reasonable price. Our room had the tatami mats and wooden sliding doors. The room is generous sized and had 2 double sized beds. Floor mattresses and covers were available in the room for up to 3 or 4 more people. Around the hotel, they provide yukata (robes) and slippers for you to wear.
The room has a nice view of the outside gardens and mountain. It has a sink and toilet but no bathtub or shower. For bathing, you need to go to the communal bath which is part of the segregated onsen. Breakfast is included at this hotel and consists of 6 types of pastries (melon, custard, croissant, pizza roll, Italian roll and chocolate). There is an automated coffee/hot chocolate/corn soup/beef consumme dispenser.
