We stayed here for a week in the spring, and it was a great home base to venture out daily to explore Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, The Badlands, Devil's Tower, etc. In the evening, we often walked to downtown RC restaurants and bars. The middle class suburban neighborhood felt safe for walking. It was about a .7 mile (flat) walk to the center of downtown, which was fine for us, but some may want to drive or take Uber/Lyft; rideshare cars appeared to be available in RC when I checked. We used the well stocked kitchen to cook breakfast daily plus a couple of dinners with groceries from the nearby Safeway. The washer and dryer in the basement allowed us to do laundry, so we were able to pack less. Wifi worked great. There is plenty of outdoor deck and porch space on three sides of the house, so you can always find a shady or sunny spot to relax. The mattresses, often a concern for us when traveling, were all comfortable and seemed pretty new. It was convenient to stop for a minute on the street out front or in the alley beside the house to unload groceries or luggage, then park under the covered (but not enclosed) area behind the house. The bedrooms are all upstairs, and the stairs are a bit tighter than some may be used to, so consider that if anyone has mobility issues. We considered staying at one of the two main hotels in downtown RC, bit I'm glad we chose to stay here instead. The only advantage of the hotels is proximity to nightlife, but that was outweighed by all the extra indoor and outdoor room, full kitchen, laundry, easy and free parking, etc. I would be happy to stay in this house again if we made a return visit to the area. The home is clean and well stocked, and you can tell the owner put a lot of care and thought into making it guest friendly.

We loved our time spent in Rapid City! The house is charming - it is an older style, but very comfortable. The kitchen is modern and well-stocked. Centrally located to see Mnt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Wind Cave NP, Devils Tower, etc.The yard does need some attention (especially at the front). An hour with a weedwacker would make a world of difference!

This home has a truly historical feel, yet is warm, still providing everything you need! Plenty of space for a family of 8 to enjoy a comfortable vacation.
Kitchen comes stocked with all you need to create your meals, including a decent sized crock pot, which I consider essential! Small bar seating, along with large and small dining tables provide multiple areas for enjoying meals.
Spacious living areas are beautifully furnished with VERY comfortable sofas. WiFi worked perfectly our entire stay.
Bedrooms are cozy and furnished comfortably to get a good nights sleep after a day of fun exploration!
Two full bathrooms with plush towels. Claw foot tubs are truly lovely, but overflow valve is too low to enjoy a good soak.
We enjoyed the outdoor areas immensely, with morning tea and scones and evening swings eating ice cream. Full deck, along with patio area, provides more space for eating or just enjoying the wonderful weather. Lawn games, including cornhole, Yahtzee, Farkle and Tic Tac Toe were a big hit outside.
Street parking is abundant and convenient. Covered parking space is provided, but located on side/back so better to perhaps use overnight. We parked on the street generally.
Home is conveniently located between major attractions like The Badlands, Custer State Park and Spearfish Canyon. Downtown Rapid City is just a few short minutes away. Grocery stores are close and Black Hills Bagels is right around the corner.

We enjoyed the location of this house very much. It was convenient to downtown and local trails and also well situated for seeing sites to the east and west. The layout of the house was quirky, though spacious. We would stay here again.

This is a fantastic home in an extremely convenient part of Western South Dakota. While staying here we visited Devils Tower in Wyoming all the way to Rushmore and Custer State Park and the Badlands. All of these were short day trips from our home base in this historic house. We prepared most of our evening meals in this well appointed kitchen. We particularly enjoyed the vintage way this house is decorated. All in all an A+ to this VRBO

I love old houses but am a total chicken when it comes to owning one as the idea of maintaining one of these properties intimidates me. I also travel for work, so the last thing I want to do is stay in a hotel for my well deserved vacation. My family and I so enjoyed the charm of this home. A blizzard came in during our stay, and we were cozy and warm, soaking in the clawfoot bathtubs, hanging out on the couches and the recliner watching TV, drinking tea, coffee, and hot chocolate. And I didn't have to clean or repair a single thing!
This home is utterly charming and the neighborhood is adorable, just blocks from downtown Rapid City.

First of all, the house is in a perfect location, close to downtown and close to hiking trails in the Black Hills! If you like to walk, we walked downtown, and I also walked from the house to the hiking trails. The hiking trails offer gorgeous views, beautiful scenery and very peaceful.
Downtown has an abundance of history, food, beverages, music and loads of fun 🤩 This wonderful historic home is beautiful inside and outside with plenty of seating, comfy beds, stocked kitchen and let’s not forget the opportunity to grill outside!
I highly recommend this stunning home!
Great location to visit the black hills!

This home was fabulous. It had lots of room for gathering and hanging out. It was very well furnished and comfy. The kitchen was great for fixing our Thanksgiving prime rib. The location is nicely centralized and easy to get to downtown and other attractions. We had great communication with the owner and enjoyed getting a chance to meet with him. I highly recommend this place and will stay here again on our next trip to the Black Hills/Rapid City.
