Lovely hotel, staff really helpful and friendly. Breakfaat was great as was our evening meal. Chosen as we needed a dog friendly hotel, and this was the most dog friendly i have stayed in.
4.6
Very friendly hotel and conveniently situated in the centre of town.

The guy in the pub / reception was pleasant and nice. Room a little dated however the bathroom as updated and nice. Downside car park small and had to park on the road. Room 16 you could hear everything, people coming through the door and walking around upstairs even coughs.

This was such a shame, having booked the property for two nights and two rooms through Expedia in Nov 2023 (6 months early to attend my daughter’s wedding), all was confirmed online, however on arrival we found the rooms had not actually been reserved, (apparently a technical/administrative error by "either" the Hotel or Expedia!!). The Hotel did accommodate us on the first night (one room upgraded to a suite) but had no space for the second night. They frantically located other rooms at another hotel for the next night which was no easy task on a bank holiday weekend (Thanks Holiday Inn albeit at a significantly higher cost to me). After a bad start, the one-night stay was lovely and we had a nice meal in the restaurant. The hotel is full of character, breakfast is good and the staff were great/helpful, (two nights would have been better and less stressful). Lesson learnt check the booking directly even when you have a confirmation through a booking site.

Always great, stayed many times.

This was our second stay at the Old Vicarage. Amazing building. Next to the church in the centre of Bridgewater.
Did not eat dinner this time as we were meeting friends.

The room was average, the bathroom miniature but in the morning the toilet didn't flush, it was disgusting, and there was no one around to report the issue, eventually I managed to go around the back and at least tell the chief in the kitchen. Extremely disappointing for not a cheap room!!

We do not think this hotel is value for your money.
Our room was very small with an even smaller bathroom, where the toilet was barely fitting between the wall and the shower cabinet making it toilet visits a tad uncomfortable.
There was feces stains in the toilet upon arrival and hairs scattered around the bathroom. The rest of the room was fine and looked clean.
The entrance door did not properly close and left a big gap between the floor and the door. Considering the rooms is right at the top of the entrance (very squeaky) stairs to all room, it was constant noise and light coming from below the door.
There is zero soundproofing so forget privacy.
We paid 220 GBP for 2 nights during low season, which are hotel level prices for guesthouse services.
I would chose another inn/hotel for next time.

The property was a great option for us while traveling. We loved that we could stop in the pub downstairs and grab a Sunday Roast. The amount of space available for our family was great.

Beautiful place. Full of history. Good evening meal. Place needs to be warmer, when we arrived no heating ,which is a shame.

On the central near shops quiet area

Traditional hotel, owner has eye for detail, really liked the atmosphere. Comfortable, clean room. Excellent breakfast.
Did not like parking!!! Recommended to reverse into car park through narrow entrance..as I’m not great at reversing this was scary!!

As a first time mini break with our newly acquired fur baby this was a brilliant find. From the added extras in the room to the breakfast sausage you all went above and beyond to make this a great experience for us. Your hotel has all the character of a property of its age with plenty of charm in the rooms behind the black doors, including the bar, snug, the library and additional breakfast room. The hospitality from you and your staff was faultless. We will be back.

We stayed at the Old Vicarage for one night due to attending a friends wedding locally. Upon arrival, we met Peter who was lovely. He brought us some coffee and made us feel right at home. We learned a bit about Peter’s background and the history of the building, which was really interesting.
We needed to check in and change into our wedding wear, but we were earlier than usual check-in time. This was not an issue and they were happy to help get a room ready so we could change and head off on time.
The room was lovely with beautiful decor, exposed wooden beams, modern bathroom fittings and you get a real feel for the history and importance of the building. The bed was comfy and we slept well.
In the morning, we headed down for breakfast and we’re greeted by Candida and the food was lovely.
We loved our stay and I would highly recommend.

Stayed 5 nights for my husbands 70th birthday, staff very helpful and pleasant atmosphere throughout, good place for travelling to day's out, sadly the town let's it down a bit , but we had a great time at Cheddar Gorge and all the surrounding tourist attractions

The owners Candida and Peter are just lovely!

Nice place. Room 10 wasgood for couples and older children. Fan noise from the kitchen is very very noisy outside the window, which is a little disappointing :-(

We had a one-night stay at this excellent hotel. We were warmly welcomed and check-in was very straightforward. The room was outstanding with a pleasant view and great facilities. Breakfast was delicious and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Parking was available and it's just a short walk to the town centre where there are lots of interesting shops and pubs to dip into. We will definitely come and stay again.
4.6
Lovely period property with attractive rooms and restaurant. However a couple of drawbacks. Stairs to our room were very steep and would not be suitable for anyone with limited mobility. Also the car park access is very tight and needs to be reversed into.

The Old Vicarage is absolutely gorgeous, so beautiful in décor and cleanliness outstanding. The staff so welcoming and the food cooked to perfection and so delicious. The whole of the visit from arrival to departure so lovely and easy. I will most definitely be stopping here gain and would like to say a huge thank you to all that made me so welcome during my stay, one of the best nights sleep ever, fabulous.

Very pleasant characterful hotel with attentive staff. Would stay again.

The staff were so accommodating. I attended a funeral and needed to leave my luggage before I left for home. They allowed me to keep everything in the room until I left. Thanks so much to the staff. The hotel was lovely. I have stayed there many times before. Breakfast was really nice too. I would thoroughly recommend staying in this hotel.

Always a pleasure to arrive here, welcomed & checked in quickly, Never had a bad nights sleep & breakfast beautiful time after time & accommodate some things not actually on menu. Close to town centre yet really quiet. My place to stay in Bridgwater.

Beautiful old hotel, real character, with lovely staff. We only stayed for one night, but would definitely come back.
4.6
Lovely old place, nice room (room 5), although some of the ususal town centre rowdy groups going past outside in the street in the small hours of the morning!
Some minor staffing issues with younger staff in the evenings - not particularly efficient, but perhaps down to experience. Morning staff better. Reasonably priced, and would stay again.
4.6
The hotel is amazing; the building some 500 years old is amazing The proprietors has managed to keep history alive whilst offering a comfortable stay. Breakfast was very good, all in all, we had a wonderful stay.
4.6
Central location, very helpful owner and staff. Cracking breakfast.
4.6
The Old Vicarage is a very pretty pub and B&B with an amazing menu for vegetarians and vegans. The rooms are nicely decorated keeping the historical style. The breakfast was very good. It's also a dog friendly place with a pub dog. The owner is super chatty and friendly. Even if you don't stay here, it's definitely worth having dinner here.
4.6
A wonderful place. I love anything historical and this certainly was an historical place. Narrow staircases, nooks and crannies, a very quant feel about the place. A very spacious bedroom. Good food and hospitality. Also in the centre of town with lots going on. We will certainly stay there again if we go down to that part of the country.
4.6
The staff were very friendly and the service was good. Lovely breakfasts.
4.6
Friendly welcome. The bed was really comfortable and it was so quiet so had a great night sleep. The breakfast was really nice and lots of choice with a quick service.
Also had evening dinner and that was also very good.
I would definately stay here again when visiting for business. Be aware with the parking area that it is an extremely narrow difficult entrance to enter from road - so if your verhicle is rather large you may need to park elsewhere.
