Location was good. Room was good. Breakfast options were good.
Charged for 2 nights but only stayed 1 night due to storm Darragh. There was an amber weather warning for high winds where we live. Trees were coming down, damage to properties (including our own) and we were aware of multiple local car accidents. Government advice was only to travel if absolutely necessary. Contacted the hotel at 8am on morning of stay (as soon as we knew) to let them know we couldn't make it. Advised that we would be arriving for the second night when the storm had passed. On checking out the manager was not willing to compromise at all and reimburse any part of the cost of the first night (which included extra cost for deluxe room and breakfast). Manager said that we had been given a deluxe room for the second night but we had not, we had paid for that already on booking. Manager was unhelpful and unsympathetic. The hotel did not charge us for parking as the one concession to taking our money for the services not provided. That did feel a bit like cold comfort though as it was a tiny fraction of the money we had lost and we have never had to pay to park in a hotel car park anywhere else we have stayed.

Great size of room, delicious food.
Repetitive evening menu, cost of car parking.

Good location. Clean. Good facilities. Friendly staff. Our room was upgraded which was nice surprise & we enjoyed using jacuzzi after busy day walking.
When people walked about in room above us it shook the light fitting - we did think it might come down! My husband said a nicer sausage would have made the breakfast excellent.

The hot tub. Friendly staff.
It was a long way up to our room, but staff checked this was OK at check in.

The location is fantastic. Just out of the city centre
Vodka was £5.00 for a shot then an extra £2.50 for a coke. Most expensive drink I had in York.

Staff was really nice. The property was nice. Bathroom was freshly decorated.
Room was warm and bedding was comfortable. Instructions to the carpark were spot on. It was very close to the town centre. Literally a street away from the city centre
Mattress was a little too soft

Everything was perfect. I liked the big room cozy and huge, well equipped ( a Nespresso coffee machine, good coffee and even excellent cookies were ready for us). It was very clean! The staff is super, breakfast and dinner were delicious. The right atmosphere to relax and live a few days as a queen

Location
Room was small, ironing facilities limited, expensive for what we got, plus had to pay extra for parking

Very nice clean and comfortable hotel which is very close to everywhere in York.
The price of on-site parting was quite high and had to pay £6 more because we arrived 2 hours before checkin.

The location, breakfasts, cleanliness and staff were outstanding.
I was expecting a more modern hotel from teh description on Booking.Com. However, it didnt detract from our stay.

one of the best places I have ever stayed. I felt like I was at home. The people were kind, the property beautiful and welcoming. It was close to town yet away from the noise. I’d go back in a minute!
Nothing. Absolutely perfect!

Perfect location. Quiet cul de sac, pedestrian shortcut to station and a short walk to town.
We wouldn’t by choice have wanted a basement room. The room itself and bathroom were fabulous but below ground level was a novel experience

The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was delicious. We had beautiful views of York as we were on the top floor. The room was very clean.
The beds were far too soft for us. There were some damp patches in the room but it is due to be refurbished.
