We have stayed before. Easy access to Centro!
The road construction jack hammer going all night. We had a 5:00 am airport.
It would have been nice if they could have met you know do you could decide if you wanted to stay there.

It’s a historical hotel which has a very decadent feel. Still not taken over by some wanna-be luxury chain. So if you like that, you’ll love it. We liked it this way. The location is great with the nice park in front. I loved the floors, the old doors and the comfortable beds.
As said above, it is interestingly decadent. At times though you’ll feel like wanting something alive in the building. There is only one receptionist and a few guys going around. For the rest it all seems frozen in some past time. It feels like the hotel goes on by inertia. Lighting should be definitely improved: the cold led bulbs really make it uncomfortable in the room. Loved the basin in the room itself but the toilet and shower room could use some renovation. All in all you might like it for how it is.

This hotel has a ton of charm and it’s very cozy and comfortable. It’s also right in the center of Merida so it’s also quite convenient
I can’t think of anything! It had everything I needed

The architecture and location
Stayed in 103. Poor WiFi and loud (facing street). Staff were helpful in arranging a room change the next day which had significantly better WiFi and minimal noise.

This is a wonderful old hotel and I always love a bit of faded grandeur. The staff especially the porter, unfortunately I didn’t get his name was was so lovely and helpful.I did feel guilty about my big heavy suitcase as he hoisted it onto his shoulder, don’t know where he gets his phenomenal strength from !!! This hotel is in an excellent location close to everything.

The hotel sparkled with old-world elegance and shine. From the beautiful tiled floors to the antique furniture, the paintings - all showed care and special attention. The location was excellent - in a main plaza- easy walking distance to excellent restaurants and artesanías. My favorite business shared space with the hotel: Santa Clara ice cream and coffee. Cute tables out front for outdoor dining and people watching. Starbucks on the other side - easy morning coffee outside your bedroom. Room had mini-fridge -a nice convenience not always found in Mexican hotels.
Rooms had no coffee makers (Starbucks important!) and wifi in our room was spotty. Large central sitting areas outside the rooms had much better service so we needed to leave the room for best service. No elevator but Santos was ready and able to help with luggage- always with a smile. The staff was very helpful with arranging transportation to Progreso beach.

Beautiful building, from 1901, but it needs some maintenance (walls and floors)

The hotel is a beautiful historic building, situated on a small city park surrounded by other historic buildings, great restaurants and shopping.
The hotel is such a beautiful building, 121 years old. It would be nice to see some restoration to some of the rooms. of our two rooms, the suite was beautifully maintained while room 208 needed some carefully done repairs

The Gran Hotel is like stepping back in time to another era, without any pretentiousness. If you look closely she’s an aging beauty and you can see the cracks in the ceiling and the old carpeting. Never mind that—it only adds to the experience in my opinion. Extremely centrally located with huge bedrooms and huge beds, our stay with 3 adults and 2 kids was very comfortable. To add to it all, there’s a Starbucks attached to the hotel, an ice cream parlor, and a nightly craft fair outside. Just perfect!
Nothing to add
