About this cabin rental

This cabin has the best view of Lake Michigan and the Chicago Skyline, inside and outside. This delightfully open cabin with two bedrooms and a perfect view of Porter Beach and Lake Michigan is nestled in the Indiana Dunes and just 53 steps away from magnificent Lake Michigan. The only thing between you and the lake is 53 stairs and a lovely sand beach. There is sleeping for 4 currently but the couch can be used to sleep 2 more people. Ample seating in the living area includes dining room chairs and living room sofa with spinning chairs. The dining room table can be expanded to meet 9 persons dining needs or the leaves can be easily hidden away for a more intimate dining experience. The kitchen is spacious and fully equipped with a full size refrigerator, stove/oven, microwave, toaster, Kuerig cup coffee maker, and Central Air (Furnace/Air Conditioning). All linens (bath towels, hand towels, wash clothes and dish towels, bedding) are provided. There is a full wrap around deck with chairs and a Weber propane gas grill. The beach is a public beach, about a half mile from the main Dunes State Park Beach, we have beach toys for children of all ages, footballs, spike ball, soccer balls and other beach games. This is the top level of a 2 story cabin with 2 parking spaces, there are no people staying in the basement of the property, it is unfinished. Should you want to venture beyond the beach numerous nearby attractions include Chesterton European Market (Saturdays), hiking, biking, dining, breweries, shopping, museums, art galleries, an arboretum, golfing, waterpark, farmers markets, live theatre, movie theatres, skating, bowling and much more.

We enjoyed 2 days of relaxation on the beach. The view of Lake Michigan is amazing. Reading on the deck, walks on the beach and the farmer’s market were the highlights of our stay. We also need to mention how wonderful Will and his family are as hosts. Thank you Will for sharing your beautiful home with us! Book this place, you will not be disappointed!

This place is lovely! The wall of windows facing the lake, large wrap around porch and incredible view of the lake was enough to make us fall in love with this place. Owners are easy to communicate with and contact. If you want an escape you need to book some time here!

The views from this very clean and comfortable beach home are stunning! We enjoyed the nightly sunsets on the beautiful wrap around deck. Host supplies numerous extras including everything needed for beach and water fun. Loved the close proximity to Indiana Dunes and Michigan for sight-seeing. Easy access to highways, grocery stores and restaurants. Highly recommend!

Fantastic location and incredible view of Lake Michigan. Access to the beach via stairs is easy and convenient, but not suitable for those with mobility issues. Beds were comfortable and there were plenty of linens and extra pillows available. Highly recommend!

Beautiful, clean, host very receptive and nice. View was spectacular and the deck was fantastic! No beach chairs, no umbrella. The shower in the small bathroom was very slippery due to soft water. Needs non-slip strips and a safety grab bar.

The plan was to see the peak of the Perseid meteor showers near the International Dark Sky Park. Even if the weather turned out to be overcast or raining, it would still be a couple of days at the beach, right? We got that. We got ALL that. We also lucked out, and got the Northern Lights. Plus the wonders of the beach, plus the sound of the waves, plus deeply relaxing time with favorite people I don’t get to see very often. It was such a treat!!! Will (the owner) dropped by a couple of times (trash cans out, trash cans back in) and was friendly and helpful. It’s a sweet spot. Just do it! .

We booked this property for two nights on our way from MN to South Bend, IN to visit Notre Dame. The location was excellent! We were pleased that the beach was just down the access steps from the house. It was a great way to recover from an 8 hour drive and a great way to spend a Sunday. The property is on the edge of Indiana Dunes State Park and Sunday morning we took advantage of the location to go into the park and do the 3 Dune challenge. The house was well appointed--we were able to cook our meals and not have to eat out, which we prefer. There were beach loungers and paddle boards fully equipped with ankle straps and life jackets available for us to use. For families with younger kids there were also lots of beach toys. We brought our own beach towels, but there were beach towels available to use. Our only issue was that the floor felt dirty--the bathroom rugs were dingy. There is understandably a lot of sand and there was a vacuum available to use that we used a couple times during our stay. Otherwise we were comfortable, had a great visit, and enjoyed our time at the beach.

Exactly what we needed for a little escape! The views, the cabin, the beach, everything was spectacular. There was plenty of room for everyone to sleep comfortably, and the neighbors are friendly. Being pet friendly was a huge bonus as our family dog got to go on her first vacation too, and she was loving the waves! Highly recommend!

20 out of 10!!!! We had an amazing stay that exceeded our highest expectations!!! The house is so beautiful, comfortable, clean, bright and airy with tons of natural light. Everything was so open and modern and the bathrooms are updated with some very cool high tech mirrors! The hosts were even considerate enough to put nightlights in every room. The view of the water from the giant windows took our breath away!!!! It was a gorgeous backdrop and it was amazing waking up and drinking our coffee on the patio watching it. We also enjoyed having breakfast on the patio every morning! The private beach access really made our trip!!! It was so peaceful and convenient to have our own space away from the crowds only a few steps away from the gorgeous house. We were able to spread out and relax without worrying about finding a spot or being surrounded by other people. It was also very convenient to have beach chairs provided for us by the host! Check in was so easy. This was our first trip to the Dunes and Will gave us great driving directions, excellent, easy to follow check in instructions, and was very responsive. We would a million percent recommend staying at this property!!! We’re already thinking about when we’ll return and I can’t wait!

You wake up to the beach facing you and the sunsets are amazing! The nights are quiet and can hear the waves crashing at the beach. It was a very relaxing experience. Will is a great host and maintained a great communication. Property was very neat and very well maintained. We would like to go back sometime.

We just returned from a trip to the dunes, and this place was absolutely perfect for our family of four with a senior dog! I know other reviews have said the pictures don’t do it justice, and that is definitely true! The place was clean, gorgeously located with the beach in view along with the Chicago skyline. Our favorite spot was the deck to watch the sunset. Our kids had a blast playing on the beach and in the surf. You can see how busy the public beach down the way is, but the stretch of beach in front of this house stays quiet with plenty of room to stretch out. We will definitely be back!

We immediately fell in love with the property when we walking in and saw the panoramic view from the floor to ceiling windows! The weather wasn’t great for our trip, but thankfully the house was the perfect cozy escape from the rain. Our two dogs loved being close to the beach and the water. Great communication from the owner as well. Would definitely stay again (and hope for better weather) :)

We LOVED our stay here and plan to be back! Perfect cozy house by the beach. The deck is so nice and gives you so much extra space. Owners were very responsive and helpful during our stay. Steps down to the beach are fairly steep. I brought my arthritic 10 year old dog and she did good, but keep in mind for older dogs or anyone with stair issues. Parking is right next to the house which is so convenient. I honestly can’t think of any other amenities that would have made the trip better!

Needed a quick getaway with the family and this did not disappoint, the views are stunning and the proximity to the beach can’t be beat! Was honestly a little nervous to book based on the photos (seemed a little dated) but they don’t do the property justice. It is much better in person. Everything is neat and clean and I would definitely recommend!

As soon as I walked in the door, I saw the wall of windows that look out to Lake Michigan. It was amazing. The house is lovely - clean and nicely decorated. The hosts are friendly and were readily accessible to answer questions. I highly recommend this property and will definitely go back another time.

We (and our dog) thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. The view from all parts of the house is stunning! The beach is just steps away from the house. The area is very peaceful and not too remote. The kitchen has all the essentials and everything in the house is thoughtfully designed. The house was very clean and the owners were easy to contact. Will (the owner) was kind enough to let us do late checkout to enjoy the beauty of the nature. This house is a perfect get-away for all seasons. We will definitely be staying here in the future.

My husband and I spent 2 nights here in late February. It's a cozy space that worked perfectly for us. Nice and open with great views from both the family room and the deck. We could see both sunrise and sunset. Everything was as listed, well appointed kitchen, cozy bedding and great seating for lake viewing. Just down the stairs to the beach. We will be back again!
