Bathroom was clean and spacious
No hairdryer available until asked.no milk and coffee cups .both windows broken, couldn't shut either. Toilet roll holder loose on wall. Wall above bed had flakes of plaster/paint falling off onto bed and surrounding area. Under bed was dirty, tissues and dust. Bathroom sink plug was stuck so couldn't empty sink. No view as windows were too high as described in the sight .This was room 9. Couldn't swing a cat in there. Not sure what other rooms were like. Extremely hot and uncomfortable to sleep. Mattress needs updating.
Restaurant downstairs ( lots of stairs to climb) had a menu for Jamaican food only. Although this was good, the tables were sticky and our food was not ordered correctly but was rectified in the end. Pleasant staff tho. Limited choice of restaurant in area.

Bedding and towel seemed new and comfortable. Bathroom appears to be relatively newly refurbished. The brew area in the room was useful.
The hotel is called Bitterne park hotel and there is no reference anywhere to it being riverside rooms, other than on booking.com. on arrival, unsure if I was in the correct place, a guy that was drinking beer and playing cards next to the reception desk asked if I was staying there, he asked my name, then reached behind the counter, opened an envelope with my name on and told me where my room is. He told me he did not work there. He was very helpful, but I did not feel safe knowing anyone could just grab the room keys, especially as the lock to my door was loose and the catch on the door didn't work to lock the door - I just had to rely on the fact the door was closed to stop anyone coming in. I didn't feel safe leaving things in the room. The front door was open when I got back at 2am and I never saw a staff member during my stay. I did easily find a parking space, but despite torrential rain all night, my car was absolutely covered in thick brown animal feaces when I returned to it in the morning. Neither of my room windows shut properly (the handle wasn't attached to one), the bathroom door handle didn't work, so if I closed the door properly it may not have opened again and the room smelt strongly of cigarette smoke.

The room was very clean and bed and pillows very comfortable, the on suite was newly furbished and was above expectation for the price paid. We ordered our evening meal in the bar the food was presented extremely well on a nice hot plate in a timely manner the food was delicious.
The ceiling of the room was losing plaster which needs attending to. The room could have also benefited from a couple of bedside tables.

We were given the family room with a double and two singles, additionally equipped with a fridge, microwave and hot plate. It was very spacious, we did not feel like we were squeezed in together at all. There was even a good sized table with 4 chairs, wardrobe, chest of drawers and yet still felt comfortable and not overcrowded. Lovely room, light and airy. The shower is amazing, so great value for money.
We were above the speaker from the bar below so you can hear the beats from the music but, it wasn’t a massive issue however if you want peace and quiet/sensitive to noise or, have young children, this place may not be for you.

We travelled for a county darts venue which was great and the accommodation was just on the door step which was also great as when we got to our accommodation it was just walking distance away with plenty of places to eat.
Our room was nice and roomy but maybe a couple of bedside cabinets and a couple of chairs with small table would be an asset to the room.

Very clean and tidy, easy to find but I’m from Southampton originally to be fair
Parking an issue during the day but that’s the same most places

Good location. Accessible and had parking.
Overall areas were not clean. Although the room wasn’t bad really.

The bed was comfortable and the shower hot
It was so cold . The heating was barely on and it was very uncomfortable . Later provided with an electric heater which made only a little difference .
Poorly maintained building in many ways
