About this house rental
Overlooking the lawn, wildflower meadow and a promise of Penobscot bay, the front of the house has a south facing, wrap around porch with 4 modern chairs and 2 small coffee tables. The perfect location to have a glass of wine and watch the kids play in the garden, making the most of the cooling breeze. Heading inside you enter a 1500 square foot open plan, south facing ground floor. The 9ft by 5ft marble island unit centralizes a modern kitchen with integrated drinks fridge & dishwasher and a fancy espresso machine. The adjacent pantry includes washing machine, dryer, large family fridge-freezer and indoor herb garden. At the front of the ground floor is a reception area, with a modern couch, 2 armchairs and a brass coffee table which enjoys an open fireplace with a bioethanol fuel run flame for both heat and effect. The window seat offers the opportunity to kick back with a book or a game of chess or just relax with a glass of wine and take in the views over the front lawn. The rear entrance includes a mud room that leads to the downstairs 1/2 bathroom. From there the large modern dining table that seats 9 people sits between the kitchen and the TV area, with a large couch, smart TV with a hard-drive filled with movies, Amazon and Pandora, Playstation 4 and a surround sound system. A large mural of a kraken lurks from behind the sofa adding a unique twist to the comfortable room. Upstairs, the central hall leads onto 3 large bedrooms, 2 have views over the lawn and Penobscot bay and the other has views over the vegetable plots and a gorgeous ancient pine tree. Each of these rooms have space for an air bed for a child or teen. There are 3 air beds and bedding available. The widows watch (top floor) offers 360 degree views of the property and excellent views over the bay. A beautiful Queen bed is available and a modern fold down sofa can be transformed into a queen bed for additional sleeping possibilities. This floor also includes AC and a TV which can be watched from the sofa or the bed. The steam spa shower room offers you chance to refresh your soul and the ensuite master bathroom includes a soaking tub where you can while away the hours gazing through the skylight. There are plenty of separate areas for seating, lounging, and eating for large groups to ensure that the home never feels crowded. The views will relax you, the spaces calm you and the garden will ensure that the kids will sleep soundly every single night! All areas are available to the guest with the exception of a closet which is accessed from the two front bedrooms. This is where the owners personal items are stored. We are more than happy to help with advice on day trips & restaurant recommendations etc. A house manual will be provided and will include a number to our caretaker and property manager. This breathtaking, modern home is close to Downtown Belfast which is brimming with fabulous independent stores that each have their own distinct charm. There are bars & restaurants aplenty, most with a local-food movement vibe, farmers markets, art galleries, a legendary movie theater & more. Take the Harbor walk or Rail trail right along the water and through town or jump on a quick harbor tour on a local lobster boat to a famous Lobster Pound, all just minutes from your doorstep. We have plenty of parking at the property and Belfast center is a 4 minute drive or 20 minute walk. We are 10 minutes walk away from Young's lobster pound & the large supermarket 'Hannaford' is 4 minutes drive away. We recommend having a car as there is so much to see. Acadia national park and Bar Harbor are 1.5 hours drive away. To get here you can fly into Rockland, Augusta or Bangor which are all 1 hour drive away. Portland is 2 hours drive and Boston 3.5. We have a resident cat called 'BR'. The house rental includes taking care of her. She is very low maintenance, in the summer months she spends most of the days outside, she needs feeding in the morning and simply has water and dry biscuits available throughout the day. Her litter tray needs emptying every couple of days. BR is quite shy around new people but may ask for a stroke now and then. BR is a short haired Maine coon mix and does not shed much. She is very gentle, helpful and inquisitive... She will nosey around all the bedrooms if you do not shut the doors. This is a beautiful home, we are returning renters and we loved it just as much as the last time we stayed. These hosts have thought of everything. Just a well appointed home with lots of extra touches and maybe also say it’s one of the cleanest homes we’ve ever stayed in and that goes a long way in this day and age. I just can’t recommend this lil spot enough. I hope we can stay again.

It is always a pleasure to stay at Alex and Lisa’s place. The property and hosts are lovely and it’s beautiful any time of year.

Alex and Lisa are supreme hosts! Their home has be carefully and thoughtfully restored with all the modern amenities you could need, but with the Maine Farmhouse heart true to the original home. It was a peaceful, calm stay and easy to get anywhere, but tucked away off Route 1. The space is relaxing with a beautiful view of the wildflower field and the water. I highly recommend both the home and the hosts!

Impeccably maintained gorgeous house and property. Walkable to the historic coastal town of Belfast yet far enough to feel rural.
Spectacular views!!

The property was beautifully restored and decorated. Very comfortable and relaxing for six guests on very private lot. Enjoyed sitting on the front porch looking at the view and wildlife. Easy access to Belfast and many activities along route 1. Hosts were very responsive and provide excellent guidance on the home.

Truly loved our stay in this stylish yet comfortable home near our favorite town in Maine. Beds were very comfortable, lots of room for our teens to have their own space. The kitchen had everything we needed for meals at home, on nights where we didn’t eat at great local restaurants in Belfast and Rockland. Greatly enjoyed toasting marshmallows by the fire pit each evening:)

What a wonderful place to stay to explore Mid-Coast Maine! The large house is exactly as pictured and is spotless. My family and I enjoyed the mornings on the front porch overlooking the wildflower meadow and the breezes off the bay. The kitchen is so well equipped I actually thought about cooking on vacation. There are too many special little touches in this rental to list, but I will call out the incredible expresso machine and the fire pit!
Staying in Belfast allowed us to drive up to Acadia for the day and spend a few days in Camden. Highly recommend Young’s Lobster Pound and Chase’s Daily. Belfast also has some lovely shops and Eat More Cheese is the perfect place to pick up essentials for a gourmet picnic!
