About this house rental
Hope Terrace is a double fronted end terrace in Matlock Bath dating back to 1874 that has been renovated to a high standard and has been beautifully decorated throughout. The house has 3 floors and its layout is perfect for families or couples. On the ground floor there is a large fully equipped kitchen/dinning room and a living room with a multi fuel burner. On the 1st floor there is a large king size bedroom, a small bedroom with bunk beds (full size singles but we recommend that only a small adult sleeps in the top bunk!)and a bathroom room. On the 2nd floor there is a large king size bedroom, a twin bedroom and a shower room. Both of the king sized bedrooms and the twin room can accommodate a travel cot. To the front of the property is a private, small-enclosed courtyard with seating. We have a private parking space for one family sized car directly outside the house, additional parking is on neighbouring streets. There are lovely views across the rooftops towards the hillside above Stalkholmes. The amenities of Matlock Bath including shops, cafes and pubs are a few minutes walk away, and the attractions of the Peak District are all close by.
Dogs
We welcome one small/medium furry friend but we do ask that they are not allowed upstairs at any time. We have a stair gate to assist you during your stay and they must be able to sleep downstairs independently. We have very limited outdoor space so your dog must be fully house trained, there is a tiny courtyard at the back of the house for emergency wee’s! Pets must not be left home alone at any time. We do not charge extra but do request that you respect our doggie rules.

We had a wonderful stay in Matlock Bath at this cottage. It is very well equipped with everything we needed as a family of 6. Our youngest children really loved playing with the toys at the cottage and older ones appreciated the location of where we were staying.
We all really enjoyed the local amenities and even managed to find gluten free fish and chips at the Riverside cafe. At Tuckers they sold an option with Gluten free, Dairy Free and Egg free Fish and Chips, which perfectly matched our daughter's food intolerances, she was very happy!
Lots to do in Matlock Bath with Gullivers Kingdom, Heights of Abraham, walks etc.
The cottage felt like a peaceful oasis to return to at the end of our sightseeing. Our Alahambra car fitted the car space outside the front, which was very helpful.
We hope to come back one day! Thank you so much Helen for letting us stay at your wonderful cottage.
Best wishes, Fran and family

This house is wonderful and much larger than we expected. The pitcures actually do not do this house any justice, its GORGEOUS. It had everything we needed in the kitchen, very comfy beds, spacious bedrooms, lovely showers - it had it all.
The cottage is situated up a VERY large hill so not recommended for those who are not used to hill walking. However, very close to the town and all in easy reach. WE really enjoyed our stay here, thanks so much for having us!

Lovely homely weekend break
My friends and I spent a long weekend at this property to celebrate a birthday . It was very homely and has a welcoming feeling, including a thoughtful welcome pack. Beautiful property and within walking distance of Matlock Bath.
I had a few questions before our stay and Helen replied quickly.
Highly recommended. 5*
Thank you !

Fantastic property, fantastic location
We stayed here as part of our UK staycation this summer as a family of 7. 4 boys along with myself & my husband & my mother in law.
We were all very comfortable, although the bunk bed room is a small bunk so my nearly 6ft 13y old wouldn’t fit it in, but that was ok as we’ve a 5y & 9y old who did. Excellent that there are bathrooms on each floor so it wasn’t a battle in the mornings!
Location is excellent, although if you struggle with hills and want to walk everywhere you may struggle to get back home to the top of a hill.
The house was spotless and had everything you could need. The neighbours were lovely (we had a long chat the morning we were leaving stood in the sunshine with the back drop of the hills behind us). I had a good shop delivered the night we arrived & there is also a Sainsbury’s local.
I would most definitely recommended this house to anyone who wanted to stay in the Peak District to go off and explore. Helen the owner was always very responsive to our Q’s and even left us a welcome basket with a few treats in which was very thoughtful of her.
We even managed to park our camper bus with bike rails in the parking space albeit a little tight, which was a huge bonus for us!

Brilliant house in a fab location
We loved staying here- good space for 2 families, amazingly well equipped, comfortable and well decorated home. Matlock Bath and Matlock down the road were both such lovely places to be. The owner Helen was really helpful, responsive and flexible and it was such a treat to have Prosecco left for our NYE stay!

Fabulous family Christmas.
We stayed here 3 years ago and loved it so much we came back for another Christmas. It is a beautiful, tasteful cottage with everything you could possible need. It is comfortable and homely and we couldn't have asked for more. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch. And the raft race on Boxing Day didn't disappoint.

Excellent property
4 retired chaps stayed for a week, excellent facilities, only two minor issues, only two of the four slots in the toaster worked, and I found the sink in the first floor bathroom was essentially next to useless. Small, too close to cabinet above it. Would be better without cabinet and a mirror fixed to the wall instead. Off-road Parking was a bit tight but we managed. Good heating, good hot water, good facilites otherwise. We had an excellent stay, thank you.

Weloming, well equipped, and great location.
We rented this house for two weeks in April and had family aged 7 - 83 join us there, and we all had a wonderful time. Helen was great to deal with, very communicative and helpful answering questions before our trip. She also made us feel so welcome with a basket of wine, biscuits, Easter eggs, and coffee. There were quite a few toilet rolls, diswasher tablets, etc. which we really appreciated as many rental places give you so few of those kind of things that you feel you have to go to the store before you've even settled in. Indeed it's the most well equipped rental I've ever been to - several hairdryers, espresso machine, tons of mugs, videos, games, maps and guide books to local walks (with a compass even!), spare light bulbs - everything you might think of; it kind of became a joke among us to try and find something we needed that wasn't there. It's very kid friendly with plastic tableware, lego, games, lots of picture books, etc. Also the place was very clean and well cared for and felt like it had been remodeled fairly recently. The location is lovely. Amazing walks/hikes, from a mile or two to much longer, are steps from the house. Matlock Bath 'center' is maybe 5 mins walk away and has nice pubs, restaurants, cafes, and several fish and chip shops. The arcades were a big hit with the kids as was Gulliver's Kingdom, and we also enjoyed the Heights of Abraham, strolling along the River Derwent, the little aquarium, and the views from Lover's Walk. There was plenty to do to keep young and old (active and less so) entertained. We didn't have a car for half of our stay and that was no problem - easy to walk every where, even into Matlock or Cromford, each about a mile away. Took a taxi back from the supermarket in Matlock when we did a bigger shop (for things that the little convenience store in Matlock Bath itself didn't have, but they have quite a lot!). We really loved the place and can't recommend it highly enough.

First class accommodation
This is a beautiful property, the owner keeps it immaculately clean and fully equipped. Having enough room to accommodate 8 adults and a baby comfortably. With beautiful views of the countryside, in a quiet area, it was a pleasure to stay there. It's location is an excellent base for visiting Matlock Bath and the surrounding area. We parked up the car for the whole weekend as everything in the town was within walking distance. I would highly recommend this property and hopefully visit again myself.

Wonderful House to Explore Peak District
We stayed for a week at Hope Terrace in September. The house is lovely from top to bottom. We couldn't have asked for a better home away from home. Note that the house has two bathrooms. There are gorgeous views from the house since it is at the top of a high terrace. We didn't have a car and were able to see much of the Peak District by bus and train. I would recommend a taxi when you travel back from Matlock with your groceries though. Helen was great to work with from beginning to end. I would highly recommend Hope Terrace for your stay in the area. We enjoyed the house immensely.
