About this house rental
This is my self-contained one bedroom house with a small garden. There's room for up to 5 people with the sofa beds in the lounge. The house is 5 mins from Mile End station (zone 2) with excellent fast transport links to the City and West End. I work in London during the week, and this is my home. I'm generally not around at weekends, so I've made the space available to the community to meet some new people and help keep the place secure while I'm not around.
This is quite an unusual property for London in that it's actually a house and not just an apartment. There's a small south-facing garden with a table and chairs which is lovely for al fresco dining or letting the kids run around. (It looks a bit threadbare in the photos - I'm trying to get some plants in during the spring!). The space is great for families, especially with the garden and the close proximity of the park.
I've been a host for several years with a number of properties on several platforms. However, this is something different in that it's actually my own home. Most weeks I will spend a chunk of time in London for work and this is where I live. When I'm not there I make it available to the community, and I try to make a nice, friendly experience for my guests.
The house is over two floors; the ground floor contains the lounge and the kitchen, while the first floor contains a large bedroom and bathroom. The house has a ground-floor private entrance, and is fully accessible.
The lounge contains leather sofas, a dining table and chairs, and a TV with BluRay. The TV has access to several video on demand channels, including Disney Plus and Amazon Prime. There's also a PlayStation 3 with a stack of games. The lounge also has a door that opens directly out onto the private garden.
The kitchen is well-specced with a hob, oven, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster and washing machine. There's a top-quality coffee machine for espresso and lattes. There are also plenty of kitchen gadgets and tools - cooking is one of my hobbies, so please feel free to use any of the kit, and help yourself to tea, coffee, or any of the many cooking ingredients you find in the cupboard or the fridge.
The spacious bathroom has a WC, hand basin, and a bathtub with a shower. Fresh towels, shower gel and shampoo are all provided for you. There's also a hairdryer and hair straighteners for your use.
The bedroom features a double bed, ample clothes storage space and a smart TV / DVD combi. All sheets, bedding and towels are provided. There is a small travel-cot available if you're bringing a baby, at no extra charge. My youngest daughter is two-and-a-half and it's just about big enough for her. You will just need to bring your own bedding, sleeping bag etc for the small person.
In the lounge, there is a double sofa-bed that folds out to make a king-size bed, and a single sofa-bed. This means the house can accommodate up to 5 people. and this has been a particularly useful for families. All the bedding for these will be provided, just make sure you let me know the total number of people staying.
A free private parking space is available for one car - just let me know when booking so I can make arrangements.
Nothing's off-limits during your stay so please make yourselves at home, although if you see a locked cupboard, that will probably have my personal stuff inside.

The Regents Canal, and Mile End Park (with its famous Green Bridge) are literally seconds away, as is Queen Mary College (my alma mater). There are a variety of restaurants, pubs, coffee shops, fast food places and grocery stores clustered around the station and the college. Within walking distance, we have classic East End drinking establishments (great for watching football on TV), high end gastropubs for fine dining and craft ale, and everything in between.
To the East, within a 10-20 minute walk (or a 5-minute bus or DLR ride), we have the attractions of the Olympic Park, which often hosts sporting and cultural events. In the same direction, you have Stratford for shopping and restaurants. The Westfield Stratford shopping centre is one of the largest malls in Europe with retail as well as leisure stuff like cinemas and restaurants.
To the West, there are plenty of cultural attractions throughout East London - the Whitechapel Gallery, and the very vibrant music, art and technology scene of Shoreditch and Hoxton.
There are also many places of historical interest - the famous People's Palace at Queen Mary's, and the local Georgian squares have some of London's finest residential architecture. Lovers of the Gothic should check out Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park, a remarkable Victorian enclave in the city, just a couple of minutes away.

Had a great short stay at PJ’s flat. There was enough space for the 4 of us and we had all that we needed for some quick breakfasts before hitting the city. Online listing is all accurate and communication was great leading up to the rental.

We felt very comfortable in Peter's house, the area offers good groceries shopping and is close to the subway station. There is a park nearby and you can walk from there to Victoria Park along the canal. We can recommend the accommodation and there are good transport connections to the city from Mile End.

We loved staying at Canal Close! It was so great to be able to walk along the canal to Victoria Park, enjoy the scenery on the way, and also be so centrally located to get anywhere so quickly by Tube. We appreciated watching the birds in the back garden in the mornings, the kitchen set up, and the two levels gave our teen a bit of her own space. PJ was super helpful and responsive. We would definitely recommend this property!!!!

Great location to see the sites in London and some less touristy areas also. We enjoyed a beautiful walk to Hackney along the canal. Peter was very responsive and had some great local food recommendations. Highly recommended!

The flat was affordable, close to the tube, and had everything we needed for an extended long weekend. Grocery stores were nearby, the kitchen was stocked with all the basics, and there was enough room for all of us. Communication with the owner was easy and quick and he was kind enough to let us leave our bags on the last day until our afternoon flight.

This flat was perfect for my family of 3. We had plenty of space and it's an easy walk to the underground station. Everything was clean and tidy, and the kitchen was very well stocked (more than we could have asked for!). The owner offers a smart tv with all the major services provided which was also quite nice.
My only complaint about the property is that the neighbors were quite loud at night a few nights, but I don't know if they may also have been renters and not the normal habitants. All in all, we'd definitely rent this property again. It's a gem!

First, let me cover the good. The location is close to the Tube and easy to get around. Before the trip the communication with PJ was great. He answered questions and provided an incredibly detailed check in and info sheet which was great. Upon arriving there were some issues. The front cover of his tub was broken and it appeared that it had tried to be fixed with tons of caulk, which didn't work. The slightest brush against the font of the tub caused the whole piece to fall down and we had to prop it up with a piece of tile. He had advertised a washing machine which was great, but upon checking in we found that there was no detergent so we had to go buy some. There is a refrigerator but no freezer. The refrigerator was also very tiny and unable to hold more than a couple bottles of water so if you plan on cooking, which we did, you'll find you'll need to buy groceries and use them immediately since you won't be able to store much. The description also showed that both sofas could be used for beds and showed pictures of them both made up with bedding. Upon checking in we found out there were no sheets or covers for one of the sofas. I immediately texted PJ about the bedding when we checked in on Dec 24 but never got a response back. I also asked about the tub front and never got a response back about that either. Not one response for the 3 days we were there. As a result, my son had to sleep on the bare sofa with no bedding. That and the total lack of communication during our stay is unacceptable.

Our stay was great! Truly a convenient location which was the most important for us. Easy and short walk to tube and grocery store as well as a safe neighborhood. Peter is wonderful and very responsive.

Peter is the perfect Landkind, he was eben prepaired for people like us who forgot to bring their own power-docket-adaptors. An eight page pdf, that he sent me a few days before our flight, provided us with all the information needed to come from the airport to the house and what to find in the vicinity. The house is large enough for two adults, two teenagers and a six year old to sleep, wash and eat. Wifi and Smart-TV are convenient.
We will for sure be back, if we may!

The flat is a very good starting point for trips to London. With the nearby tube, bus and bicycle rental you reach everything quickly. The possibility to park your car is very handy. If you travel from outside UK remember to register for ULEZ though. The neighbourhood is nice and quiet although one of the neighbours smokes ugly stuff constantly, making opening the windows a challenge.
The landlord is very helpful and responsive - we enjoyed our stay and would choose again to go there.

Gute Lage, Veraltete Möbel, Viel Potenzial, Sauberkeit verbesserungswürdig
Lage (+): tolle Lage, Bahnhaltestelle Mile End ist in der Nähe, Anbindung zum Flughafen Stansted sehr gut durch National Express
Sauberkeit (-): Ich empfehle Peter einen Geschirrspüler zu kaufen :-) die Besteck , Teller, Pfannen, alles was man in der Küche finden kann, waren leider dreckig. Wir mussten zuerst gründlich nochmal waschen damit wir überhaupt nutzen können.
Einkaufsmöglichkeiten (+): in der Nähe findet ihr mehrere Supermärkte (auch Lidl :-)).
Für Kinder (+): In der Nähe gibt es einen guten Spielplatz
Möbel (-): Möbel ist veraltet. Der Schwarze Sofa hat ständig abgeblättert. Neue Sofa wäre empfehlenswert

Comfortable and located in a convenient, lovely neighborhood. The host was very responsive and provided a fan for us when we realized there was no AC and it was 90+ degrees! Check in could be automated, but otherwise an excellent visit.

Everything about the apt was great for a stay in London. The apt. Is well located less than a 5 minute walk to the mile end tube station making it easy to get anywhere in London. All amenities one would need (washer, cooking supplies, etc).

Perfect for us!
We stayed 5 days with two teenagers and had a great time. Especially our son loved the play station. The location is absolutely perfect for doing some sports as well. You have the Park next door and the Olymic Park is pretty closed as well. Peter was so helpful with all the Information and all we can say is thank you! We’ll be back some day!

Peter's apartment is close to Mile End station, just 8 minutes walk. Getting in to central London is easy once at the metro, only 15-20 minutes depending where you want to go. Apartment has everything you need to make your own meals and fit a family of 5 comfortably. Would stay here again.

Schönes Häuschen in toller Lage mit eigenem Parkplatz
Das Häuschen liegt nahe eines sehr hübschen Kanals und nur 5 Minuten von U-Bahn und Busstation entfernt. Einen Supermarkt erreicht man auch in 5 Minuten. Man kann sogar draußen frühstücken :-)

Siamo stati 3 giorni in 5 persone, praticamente ci abbiamo solo dormito. L'appartamento è confortevole vicino alla metro. Abbiamo conosciuto Peter e sua moglie, sono stati molto accoglienti e premurosi.

Abbiamo soggiornato in quattro per tre notti. La casa è ben tenuta ed il rapporto qualità/prezzo penso sia ottimo. Cinque minuti a piedi dalla fermata Mile End, dal supermercato e da Starbucks o Costa. Adiacente al parco. Non ho incontrato il proprietario, ma è sempre stato disponibile e prodigo di informazioni. Punto di riferimento per un prossimo viaggio

Die Wohnung liegt in einem coolen Viertel und hat im Prinzip alles, was man braucht, außer vielleicht einen Haarfön.
PJ ist echt nett und ist uns mit der Check-in-Zeit freundlicherweise entgegengekommen.
